The Imsomniac MMP

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

We have been told to keep a close eye on the weather as Hurricane Matthew is churning away down in the islands. Gitmo is in line for a direct hit. If it does not turn like it’s forecast to we may be in the path. It is a category 3.:eek:

One hour to go. Billy and Tim have been keeping me busy, which is great. They’re both tons better than the old boss at explaining what they need done. So it’s been a good day.

And my sweetie is taking me out to dinner tonight, so Yay for that!!

did you get your N00b yet? Moooommmm

Go PK!

Duck and cover, Butters!

Happy Birthday Rosie!!!
Congratulations on the new job Nuts!!

Good luck with month/year end AND the hurricane  Butters!

Made it back to OR last night, and it started to rain overnight. I love this time of year. It rains enough that I don’t have to water, but the sun is still occasionally seen. The temps are great too.

Boy child has acquired a cold. I kept him home today. DH had been making him go to school, but he’s been needing his inhaler to breath and using an entire box of kleenex a day. Hopefully a quiet day will help him get over this. Girl child went off to school to try and get her arms around everything she missed.

I shall now go and eat my lunch and see what the rest of the day brings.

Yay Firday!

Happy Firday!

It’s chilly and wet outside.

Math exam is over - he got an A.

McD’s/TacoHell did lunch and dinner.

Happy Birthday Rosie!

**Butters **- the n00b is in place and gradually coming up to speed. He seems to be a nice young guy - definitely a responsible kid. He’s living at home so he can pay off his college loans - good for him!

We’re about to head out for supper. We’s both stahvink! My ham sammich just wasn’t enough to get me thru much more of the day.

Happy birthday Rosie, and happy job day, you Nut, you!

Went to the estate sale this morning, and I think we have done pretty well. I bought $35 worth of items, and conservatively, at retail, they’re worth about 5-6 times that amount. Tony picked up two “wild cards” that I’m still researching. I don’t think they’ll have quite as good a margin as my picks, but I don’t think we’ll lose money on them. (And he doesn’t have my background in antiques, so I’m encouraging him to learn and take chances.) Littlest Miss went with us, and had fun playing small ambassador.

Gotta go retrieve the big girl from her after school stuff, and heat up some leftovers for dinner, and keep trying to research Tony’s mystery find of the day…

I’m done. Had a tasty Chinese lunch, and pieces of 4 different cakes (the best one was the Boston Creme) and am now crashing from the sugar high. Thank you all for the bday wishes. See y’all tomorrow.

Howdy Y’all! Dindin got ingested, the kitchen cleanded and then we went to Ferd’s. We live it up around here! I am also all packed for my pilgrimage up to Ye Olde Home Towne. I shall take my mother on a little roadtrip Monday mornin’ up to her old stompin’ grounds in Heard County, Jawja. It’s not far from Ye Olde Home Towne as it’s the next county up. All of her family is buried in the cemetary in large and in charge Centralhatchee so we shall go there. If she’s up to it we shall also tour greater Salem and Ephesus as well. We may even go to Franklin, the capitol of Heard County. It’ll be a whirlwind tour for sure!

Nuts congrats on the new gig!

rosie glad you had a good bday.

I was driving Mama plant somewhere when she was eighty, and probably brought on by her not driving, she asked me why Father died in his fifties and one of Mama Plant’s cronies was driving in her nineties.

I replied, “Mama, shit happens.”

Mama Plant responded, “Yes, it does.”

One of those irk days ------------ I was assigned to the trailer yard and everything that could go wrong did. One inbound “got hit by an overpass”. :smack: One dock door broke in mid-TDR/docking process. :smack: One I had to downcheck for bad landing gear and we had to invent a Plan B :smack: And a dozen other little things that could and did go wrong. And it didn’t stress me at all because at 8:30 I could pass my vest and all the assorted problems onto the next guy. I love my job!!!

Conga rats, nuts!

I bought groceries and two patio rockers this afternoon. No all I need is a small table out there and maybe a grill. I picked up supper at a soul food place. Hot catfish, red beans and rice, turnip greens and hot water corn bread. The next time I get the fish, I won’t pair it with spicy sides though.

What does it mean, “hot water corn bread”?

It’s a fried bread, with no leavening - it basically relies on boiling water to start cooking the cornmeal before it goes into hot grease, providing a bit of “lift” to the bread. Sort of a cross between a hush puppy and a savory fritter?

So the Canes lost in OT, but I had a lovely time with a new friend.

That’s as good as the dingbat driver who got stuck. When the cop showed up and asked what he was doing, he said “Delivering a bridge!”

Just trying to figure how one of Big River’s trucks hit an overpass. Aren’t they generally all the same height, or did the driver get lost and went on a road they should have avoided?

I have no idea how it happened; I avoid the drivers as much as possible. I have learned that they are paid about three times what I make or better and are about 1/3 as intelligent. But they are still better than our home delivery drivers. Heck, those folks make the long-haul drivers look like NASA material. :smack:

I don’t mean to go off on a rant but I still find it hard to fathom how a company that size, with the basic leadership it has, tolerates some of the stupidity it does. That could be why they have hopes and plans (but no real time-table) to someday replace all the agency/third-party people (like the drivers) with idiots of their own choosing. Like me!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled Off to work in a bit.

gotti, bridges do vary in height. Sometimes “low bridge” signs help, sometimes not.
