The Independence Day MMP

In hotel & downloaded pix (but not video) to external drive. Time for bed.
In fact, the only reason I’m posting this is so Swampy won’t need to start a new page whenst he wakes up later today. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good morning, all.

Well, we survived Hell Night. Shayna wasn’t too much of a mess, last night. Especially after I doped her, gave her countless treats, lots of reassurance, hugs, scritches, turned up the tv, and kept it on for her all night. She was still pant-y, and pace-y, but, we made it through. I’m glad it’s over. I’m sure there will be more fireworks for the next week, or so, but hopefully it won’t be as bad as these past few nights.

I did procure my new pressure canner, yesterday. I’m afraid to use it. I still predict carnage, when I do. If I have an ‘incident’, there WILL be pictures, and most likely, a vehement rant.

It’s supposed to be another hot day, with the temperature getting up to around 93*, and the heat index into the low 100’s. Joy. It is supposed to cool off, starting tomorrow. For several days. Lows into the mid 50’s, even! I look forward to that! It’ll be nice to have my coffee on the porch, again.

The agenda for the day, will include the usual hovelwork, and probably laundry.

Have a good day.

Death toll at 19 now across the province. I think I’ll head to my dad’s house today so as not to become part of that.
Last night was rough. Only got a few hours of sleep. At least I have a big fan now.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. But just for 2 hours. Then I get to [del]pour lava and boiling acid on[/del]bathe Gordie. He’s itchy.

Happy (I am so tired I have to check my phone to see what day it is) Thorsday!

I woke up too early, damn bladder. Once up, I’m up.
I’ll take a nap later, maybe.

Going to be another hot one day, and we should have some rain.
I hope not on the rain as the front postage stamp needs to be mowed and the back jungle needs to be whacked.

Ripple did well with the fireworks.
He slept through most of them until there were some really loud ones. Then he woke up and looked at me and asked did you hear that? I said yeah, I heard it, it’s no big deal. Then he started running to the doors and windows barking. I went outside with him so he could check it out. The cat came over to sit next to me and he keep asking me do you hear that? They both must think I am deaf or something.
Oh well, the cat already thinks I’m defective because I can’t catch mice.

Be careful in the heat Midget. When I lived in Baltimore in a row house with no AC I lived on popcicles. I kept the shades down too to keep the sun out. Sometimes it helps to open the windows at night and then close them before it gets hot out in the morning.

Nothing special to do today.
I’ll make hamburgers for my son for dinner, chicken and broccoli for me. I’d rather have cabbage but the broccoli has been in the fridge longer.

Up, caffeinated and at irk. It is irksome although I do have the window open and there’s a nice breeze blowing through. It will get worse this afternoon when the sun gets round to this side of the building - on the plus side, our Ops Manager has offered to bankroll an ice-cream run if we want it. I think that’s a yes from us!

Up, showered, dressed, finishing breakfast, and about to log in at work. Weird dreams last night, one involving 2 snakes in my car that kept morphing back and forth between long, thin snakes and short, fat lizard-things. Then there was a dream about a flood. Not a very restful night, alas.

We could hear some fireworks last night, but none too loud or too near. The animals didn’t seem to react at all. Good thing - I was in no mood for furry drama. :stuck_out_tongue:

**FCD **has a couple of meetings today, but he’s going to give me a thumb drive with a bunch of models that need to be drawn. That should keep me plenty busy. We shall see how working from home works out.

Happy Thursday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and brekkied, so no YAWN. ‘Tis 73 and N.O.S. out with a predicted high of 90 and yet again a fifty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. OYKW and I went to Pearly’s for breakfast and then he headed to Columbus, Jawja for a meetin’ thing today and tomorrow. Thus, I am sans adult supervision until early tomorrow evenin’. Plenty of fireworks last night but they ended around ten p.m. so yay for that. I need to accomplish mowage today. I would be out there already except ‘tis very wet out. I think it may have rained some durin’ the night. Also, I shall turn the leftover chikin boobs (smoked enough for this purpose) into chikin sallit. Smoked chikin makes yum chikin sallit!

Midget make sure you stay hydrated and find some place cool to be, at least for a while durin’ the day. Yay for gettin’ a big fan. I grew up in a house that didn’t have a/c until I was fifteen. It was an old house and the first a/c was two window a/cs. Then the 'rents had central air installed. Later on they sold that place and bought a house out in the country. Thus, I know the joy of summer without a/c. Find ways to stay cool.

OK, I need to motivate. Really. Actually I need to wait a bit longer before mowage begins. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Your fireworks ended at 10, that is about when ours began, and went on until the wee hours of the morning.

It’s already raining this morning, so no mowing or whacking today.

Happy belated to you, Flytrap!

Hung with the kiddos yesterday. Went grocery shopping in the AM with Juliet Jr. Then played some video games with the girl. She’s only 5, but she’s really into Mario Party games. She used to be a really sore loser, but when we play as a team, and she loses a mini game (but our team still wins because I dominate), she’s become more gracious about losing. And it’s helping her fine motor skills. We don’t play many video games, but sometimes it’s a fun treat/bonding activity for the two of us every now and then.

Happy fifth!

We’re about halfway to Dragontail with bikes and dogs. It has been fun so far. We’re waiting for breakfast at a little gas station / general store / cafe about 150 miles from home. It’s a regular stop when we go to east Tennessee and a welcome one. The truck is running so that the dogs can stay in the AC, so we won’t dilly dally over our meal (country ham and aig bizcuts and coffee).

A fifth always makes me happy.

::jealous::

However, envy me, I’m at the Hotel California. I checked out, but I’m not leaving

(It was easier to come in last night & stay on my own than driving all the way home last night & then back up North this evening. So last night’s stay was on my own dime but the rest of the weekend, the event is covering. I’m staying in the same room, though, so even though I checked out, I’m not leaving.)

I brought irk laptop so I’m technically working remotely today. I think I shall take my next conf call poolside.

I use that as the excuse why no-one can find me on FaceBook.

Yesterday -------- 96k plus leftovers from the previous day. We did NOT get everything done and out yesterday. One of the regulars knows just how bad a sin that is in Da Jungle. Seattle will call, explanations will be given, but the short version is the bosses screwed to pooch passing problems on instead of dealing with them. Today starts a couple bosses who actually can lead so I expect we’ll be back on track. But with that Prime Day thing quickly approaching … lets just say I don’t have any warm fuzzy feelings.

The OW brought me some leftovers from the party so I will shortly forage.

Home. Walked Gordie. Twice. Made chorizo and egg tacos for breakfast.

Except in Flytrap’s case, it’s the Witless Protection Program.

It’s hot and humid. I object. With whom should I speak about this?

The week after next we are going on an Alaskan cruise, very last minute. It’s mostly inside passage, with a quick run up to the Hubbard Glacier.

I have completed mowage and the makeage of chikin sallit. I am also all showered and cleanded. Go Me! I declare that I have adulted enough for one day. So mote it be! Also the chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse has gone down to twenty percent. Of course it did, I mowed!

Sunny enjoy the cruise. I’ve always said if’n I do another I want it to be a cruise to Alaska.

Vinnie did not like the fireworks at all last night. He kept begging me for something. I thought he wanted to go out, but he’d just stand on the patio and look at me. Finally we figured out that he wanted us to go to bed so he could get in bed with us. (He usually sleeps on his own bed.) We did that, and, after I convinced the bedroom TV that we did, indeed, have a netflix account, we continued binge watching Midsomer Murders until midnight. The fireworks pretty much stopped by then.

Of course Gibbs, being a terrier, just wanted to go outside and bite the fireworks.

Wifey is decidedly not happy. Somebody at the Cultural Center was supposed to provide her with a mailing list, and flummoxed it, and then, when she went over Parks and Rec to get the banners for the Lavender Festival, they couldn’t find them. I’ll just be staying out of her way today. :o

Time for me to start adulting. Carry on.

I’ll try this at least once!

Working a little today; this is not something I get to do more than 8 or 9 times a month, so it’s truly a pleasure and a positive thing for me to have something that my Company will actually pay me to do, and pay me the same hourly rate I earned while I was full time and doing a much more complex job.

I’ve been “part time on call” about a year now, and usually get to work about 12-14 hours a month. Last month I got to work 21 hours, and that’s good, but because of the things I had to do last month I may not get more than 4 hours or so in July. Bummer. There’s no doubt that what I do is important to someone–the Company won’t allow me to believe otherwise.

Close of business today is my deadline to submit the consolidated June Monthly Status Report for my small work group to program management. It can be like pulling hens’ teeth to get the individual reports to me on time and in a format that fails to bother me somewhat, but at least I don’t have to do this on a Winderz machine–my Mac with OpenOffice Writer does the job just fine. One guy hasn’t provided input yet, so I flagged program management earlier about that, by asking if he was on leave or something this week. The PM is supposed to let me know before 1800 local time whether I should submit the MSR without that input, or whatever else he prefers. (If I don’t hear from him, I’ll submit what I have, with appropriate explanations.)

Not to mention (but I will), I get to work from home, so I don’t have to face the roadway idjits during the ~80-km round trip!

I did a solid 8 hours of real work on drafting today - I think I may have gotten more done than if I’d been at the office because there were no interruptions. I’ll do a few more hours tonight to wrap up an assembly drawing, and tomorrow, I have some more drawings to do, but not as many as I had today.

We’re going out to eat - dunno where, but that’s the plan. No dishes to wash, so yay!

It’s been a screwed up day today.

My land line keeps hanging up on clients, so I switched to my cell phone which started giving half a ring before sending calls to voice mail.
I had sent off an email to the land line company yesterday and they said they found no problem but reset the modem anyway. It wasn’t working earlier but now it seems to be, which is a good thing because AT&T was supposed to fix my cell phone, which worked fine through the test calls the went right back to sending calls to VM.
AT&T told me I set my phone to go straight to VM and no I did not. It worked fine all day yesterday and this morning.

I got both of my tax bills today, and both the county and city taxes have gone up.

My bill that was supposed to be paid in full by today has not been paid. If the check was mailed on Firday the 22nd they should have gotten it several days ago, even with the weekend and holiday. The nice rep I spoke to said she extended the due date by 10 days, but I won’t relax until I see the bill paid off.

So nothing has gotten done that should have been done.

I am very grumpy and it’s not getting any better.
