It’s been a hell of a week. Surgery on Tuesday. DMV visit on Thursday. Call DMV on Friday due to their cock-up on Thursday, they can’t find my vehicle, so try again on next week.
How can I continue with the fun? Slice off the end of my thumb with a paring knife? Yes, let’s do it! It’s what I deserve for keeping the kitchen knives well and truly sharp.
The only good thing is that my first aid kit is almost an urgent care center in a box, so I had everything needed to manage that bit of mayhem. Really, about all that’s missing is oxygen, X-rays and casts. I might have made a good Boy Scout…
gotti - how many black cats did you follow under ladders while shattering mirrors? Sheesh!!! Be careful, dude!
I’m feeling yesterday’s weeding in my back. I’d like to try to finish today - we’ll see how that goes.
I was also noshed alive by what I think were skeeters. Whatever they were, I’ve got itchy spots on my arms and legs. My own fault for not putting an insect repellent on before I started. Need to remember that today.
Meanwhile, I’m awake and the dog has been fed. When **FCD **gets up, I’ll see if we’re going out for breakfast or not. And then the day will truly begin.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 93 for the day and sunny, unless it rains this afternoon/evenin’ then it won’t be sunny. Seriously that’s what the weather forecast sounds like.
gotti if you must be sliced open, leave it to the pros, ok? Hope the thumb is feelin’ better today. OUCH!
flytrap I shall dig out the recipe for the mandarin orange icin’ and post it at some point today. I use a yellow cake mix for the cake part. Don’t judge!
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. At some point purtification for deheathenization must also commence.
It looks like a true Sun day today.
When I was a little kid (very little) I used to think that God made all Sundays to have perfect weather so it would be nice out when people went to church.
Later I found out that my father only took me to church on nice days.
I have much to do and haven’t done much.
{{{Gotti}}} you’re sure having a rough time of it lately.
Swampy and Nettie, I have suggested my mother move in with the HFH. They, however, would rather move back in with her and have said so several times.
I doubt that will happen. After we all moved out my mother got new carpeting, new furniture, and is clearing out the hoard. There is no way they are coming back with three unruly dogs and a half ton of junk.
My mother is already mad that they, without asking or telling her, put a bunch of stuff in the attic. Which was discovered when my niece went up there to look for my stuff. I wondered how they moved so much stuff in so few trips, now we know they left a lot of it behind.
Not my problem, other than I still can’t find my dishes, flatware and a bag of broken jewelry.
I honestly don’t get the hate for cake mixes. So you let someone else measure your ingredients for you and bag them for convenience. Big fat hairy deal!
We went to IHOP for breakfast and it was very mediocre. Plus we had a server who tried too hard to be perky and friendly and crap. Just do your job and don’t try to be our friend, dammit!!! She really was a piece of work.
I’ve got a load of jeans on the line and I’m about to change into grubbies and finish weeding the hill. That’s all I intend to accomplish today.
Sunday morning. It’s raining, supposed to rain on and off all day. I’m in my pjs watching the French Open. I have NO plans for today. I may not even get dressed. Making my version of chicken enchiladas for finer, involving sour cream and cream o’ chicken soup. And lots of cheese.
swampy, I can’t remember the last time I made cake from scratch. Box cakes are perfectly fine for most occasions.
After hearing some good bluegrass yesterday, SIL and I went junking fo a while. I came out of it wit a couple of books from the used bookstore and a skirt and a sweater from the thrift shop. Supper was hot pot at an awesome Chinese place on the west side of town.
Today I get to do the chores that I didn’tget to yesterday.
I went to a really cool concert last night. It contained all sorts of music, from The Supremes to short piano pieces to jazz variations on Bach to a German song about cheese, and everything in between. Great fun!
I did a root rescue on my hair for the first time today. I know why I normally pay $90 to have it done. It’s so messy but I think it turned out ok and only cost $7.50.
Still cleaning out closets and packing away clothing that is too big. I am getting rid of some but am keeping most as I don’t want to buy again if I cannot maintain the weight loss. Keeping it off is almost as hard as losing it in the first place. OK. Back to the clothing hoard.
Boy, is this a banner year for poison ivy!! While I was weeding, I saw some on the hill, so when I decided I’d weeded enough (no I didn’t finish) I raked up and dumped what I did pull, then got out my sprayer and started walking around the yard. There weren’t a whole lot of plants in any one place, but there were plants in lots of places. I may not have gotten them all, but I got most of them. Here’s hoping we don’t get rain for 24 hours.
I figured out the extent of the front garden by looking at the lay of the land, literally. We can mow the side hill with the riding mower, going up and down. There comes a point in the hill where the gradual transition from flat to slope becomes an abrupt change - that’s where the garden ends and the lawn begins. I’ve got about a dozen iris to move, and I don’t know how many day lilies. I’ll try to get the iris done this afternoon, but I don’t know if I’ll have the energy for the rest.
I also hacked back the wisteria (again) next to where I park the truck. The long, leafy tendrils were reaching out to grab me when I went to the truck. Not any more. snip snip snip!!
No doubt about it, I need a staff landscaper to do my dirty work…
All righty - I’m done. I moved the iris, pulled a few more leaves, raked up and dumped some debris, and put all my tools and stuff away. I’ve showered and I’m dressed in a manner fitting for public exposure.
