Glad about the Mickey news and slowly catching up. I’ll fill you in on out adventures in Ohio shortly.
Nothing from Bobbio yet? Hope nothing happened to him. There are parts of Ohio we drove through that are so empty even a deer hunter wouldn’t come across a ------------ LOOK AT THAT BUTTERFLY THERE!
**BBBobbio **posted on FB that he was on his way home before 8 this morning. I don’t imagine we’ll hear from him till later this evening.
**FCD **is done in his shop, too. Now we need to think about what to do for supper. I’m hungry, but too tired to cook anything too complicated. This might be a mac-n-cheese night…
OK - about the Under the Radar Festival in Hillsboro Ohio featuring the Electric Amish. We got there to learn that is was cancelled because – no joke – there was no electricity in the whole damn county. Some transformer blew and some substation melted down and over 5000 people (basically the entire county) was without power. And somehow the Acoustic Amish just doesn’t have the same ring to it. (Actually it was for public safety and dull stuff like that but we can pretend, can’t we?) We couldn’t even stay where we were booked because of the locks and AC and all was not working. No storm or anything - just someone blew a circuit. The infrastructure isn’t built for the huge(?) population the county now has.
Herself has a bit of a summer cold and I was just flat-out tired so rather than do the whole drive back, we allowed ourselves to be distracted by shiny things and got a room near Columbus. We did dinner at this sports bar called Roosters where the food was very yummy and we could watch the horse race. Anyone else creeped out by the Burger King watching the race by the owner of the winning horse? What was up with that? And we had a quiet night in a motel filled with board gamers. Or bored gamers. I’m not quite sure what the difference is.
It wasn’t what we had planned but it was still a lot of fun.
I did a quick organization of the freezer - dang, I have a lot of chicken in there!! Supper, however, will be a hunk of smoked chuck roast, some twice-baked N.O.T.s, and steamed broccoli. Most of it will be warmed in the microwave, so an easy supper to prepare.
Home with a sinus headache. Stupid allergies.
Did make it to deheathenation. Realized just before we had to leave I’d tried to go out without a bra on! OK, I’m only a B cup, so it’s quite possible no one else would have even noticed, but seemed inappropriate to me.
Happy SHOE Day!

The neighbor kids are over (2 “goils”). The boy kid has reached his over-load point. I have released the Playstation. Sometimes when it’s 3 “goils” to one little brother, you just gotta cut the kid a break.
Elsewhere, napping is commencing. 2 cats, 2 dogs, one husband.
We have ourselves a “heat advisory”. Le Blurf. Temps may reach over 100. Just put my puddle over in the corner please. kicks and wails, but not with the left foot I HATE heat. Hate, hate, hate it!
I shall now go triple-check the a/c.
Howdy Y’all! Today I have deheathenated, had brunch, had a nap and been a sloth since the nap, though nappage can be counted as a part of sloth I reckon. We’ve had a little rain and it looks like there could be more. I hope so.
flytrap you asked about the mandarin orange cake. Since I got it from all recipes, I’ll just do it as a link. The only thing I do differently is I use 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of milk instead of a cup of oil. I think it makes for tastier cake. BTW I do that for all cake mixes. Ok, as promised Mandarin Orange Cake.
And now this…
<AHEM> CLEARIN’ THROAT <AHEM>

When I do mix cakes, I do a cup of milk and half a cup of unsweetened applesauce. It makes the cake moist without the calories. And the flavor of the applesauce disappears so you’d never know it was there.
Supper was early and yum. The dishwasher is now washing and we’re in max chill mode. Aaaaaaaahh!!
y’know, it you and FCD didn’t get up so frickin’ early, y’all could have dinner at a civilized hour!
I am just starting to think about what we might have for dinner. Pizza sounds like a lovely option.
I also having trouble “training the help.”
Take making the coffee this morning. I can move around fairly well on my little knee scooter, but until my cup holder gets here (I love you Amazon) I can’t actually carry scalding hot beverages and steer my scooter. So this morning I asked my daughter to get my coffee. She said “OK”. My MIL said, “Oh, I can do that”. (My MIL has come out to stay with us and help with the chilluns, which is lovely of her, really.) A few minutes later she asks my daughter how to use the K-cup machine. So my daughter shows her.
<insert Jeapardy theme>
A while after that I asked if anyone needed help getting my coffee. My daughter and my MIL had both left the room AND turned off the coffee maker. I think my MIL thought it was a theoretical exercise. I tell you, the help these days.
So I think I need one of those little Downton Abbey bell ringers. Totally. I’m sure I would not abuse my power at all.
I heard a really disturbing rumour about my mother, and I hope it’s not true, but if it is, she really is going off the rails, and there’s not much the rest of my family can do about it. I just hope she won’t get kicked out of her building where she lives. I don’t want her to come back here and royally screw up my life.
I have to try to focus on the good things in my life, I guess. I did have a nice chat with a friend online today, so there is that, I suppose.
T.G.I.S.!! (yes, today is another Firday for me). Dog is walked, groceries are bought and put away, life is good.
I use mixes when I bake. Easier for me.
{{{{rodie}}}} Hope they stop revolting.
Sounds like the playlist on my MP3 player.![]()
And {{{{{}}}}} about the Mom thing.
Happy Birthday shoe!!!
That’s what makes him so cool.![]()
Awwww, thanks for the birthday greetings, Mumpers! Y’all are so sweet, I swear I’ll get a cavity.
We didn’t have lunch today, so early supper was kinda necessary. And we normally have supper around 5-5:30, so 4:45 isn’t too much earlier.
I think it’s time to recline. *** MWAH!***
We had a <snerk> Quickie <snerk> for dindin. We both had the really, really, really good patty melt.
{{{Midget}}} hope everything turns out ok re your mom.
Now 'tis time to lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepy time.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Happy birthday, shoe!
sunny, it sounds like maybe making your coffee in a travel mug might allow you to get it to the table sooner.
Most of the chores are done and supper (pork steak, sweet corn, snap beans with bacon, cottage cheese wit a Roma tomato and cantaloupe). Now all that’s left is boxing it up for the freezer rotation and cleanup.
Maybe you’ll get Wilford Brimley or diabetes ------- whichever is the disease.
Oh – and Happy Birthday while I’m at it!
Wilford Brimley has diebeetus, not diabetes. Just ask him.
Mumpers, I’m home from funeralizin’. Didja miss me?
