The international candy exchange

What’s the latest?

Count me in! I have a serious sweet tooth and would love to try sweets from various overseas type places. Love gummi bears and sour bears, hate coffee, coconut and cinnamon but would go for just about anything else.
Do we get matched up in pairs or small groups or what?

Oops, chocolate as well! I might be biased but I love Cadbury (bought up big when we did a tour of their factory in Tasmania in March). Love Lindt balls but can get them here too. Don’t like Hershey’s as a rule but do like the Hershey bar with toffee bits in it.

Should say I generally prefer chewy lollies over hard ones.

Well, I sent out e-mails to everyone that I had an address for. Unfortunately, there were lots of US Dopers who were left out with no partners, but if I hear from any more international folk who want to participate, I’ll still match people up.

Sorry to gfloyd, Lily of the Valley, Reality Chuck, and N.Sane, who I also couldn’t match up with partners, but didn’t have e-mail addresses for.

So, I guess the exchange is officially on! I’ve arbitrarily decided on a spending limit of around $10.00 US, so that the exchange is relatively even. On your marks, get set, mail that candy!

Also robinc308, for some reason, your e-mail with your partner’s name bounced back to me. Do you have another address I could try? Send me an e-mail.

Ultraviolet, I got your email, and I have also already got an email from my exchange partner. I answered, and I think we’re on track!

This is going to be fun.

As for the US Dopers, what about matching them up with each other? Could there be regional favorites?

If any US Doper is too disappointed I could take on maybe one more, especially if it got me something tasty I haven’t had before!

I think I’d be happy to trade a local US treat with another US doper. Baker- email is in the profile…we have world famous peanut butter chews…I’m just saying.

Id be glad to trade with another US doper, if they want some southern candy. I cant count on it not being available up by them, but I know of a few places around here that sells regional stuff.

After reading your post the other day, Sierra Indigo, I made a point of enquiring about this at the Post Office. They said that confectionery isn’t on the prohibited list. And since I wanted to be doubly sure, I checked the Australia Post website and there’s nothing there about not being able to send lollies or biscuits.

I must have missed this first time around. Can I play? Does anyone like tamarind balls and sweet cakes? I even have a US address you can ship to :). My email’s in my profile.

Strange… I got it OK. Twice, in fact. Mysterious.

Weird, it came back to me as “delivery failure”, so I tried again. Anyway, good, we’re set!

I got candy!!!

The peanut butter chews arrived yesterday actually, but I wasn’t there to sign for them, so UPS tried again today.

They are nummy!!! There’s a soft white candy on the outside, with a peanut butter core, and my hand can’t seem to stop reaching into the box.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Jess, did you get your CanuckCandy from me yet?

I would LOVE to get in on this. I’m from the US–Oregon, if it makes any difference.

Looks like I’m way too late :frowning:

It just came in this morning’s mail, Amazon Floozy Goddess! I was hoping for maple sugar candy when I saw my partner was from Canada (I love maple sugar candy!), and I’ve already eaten half the chocolate-covered cashews. Thanks especially for the tea – I’m a tea drinker and it’s very good stuff! I mailed your box out day before yesterday, so watch for it, ok?

This was fun – candy in the mail, what could be better?

Great! Glad it arrived safely…I could almost see the guys at Customs checking out the box going, “Hmm, looks like candy, but better try it to make sure it’s not a bomb or something…munch**smack…that one was safe, better try another…” And you end up getting a box full of wrappers.

I’m happy you liked the goodies! Can’t wait for my treats…drool…

I am just seeing this for the first time and I want in. If there is a kind Canadian Doper who would send me some Jelly Tots (please tell me they still make those) I would be grateful, and willing to send something back, maybe some hot pepper based candy.

I just thought to reopen this thread. And you’re welcome! A Bakersfield specialty, they are.

I haven’t gotten yours yet :frowning: . I blame…the man. He’s always trying to keep me down.
