The "I've finished the rhubarb pies" MMP

Back in the mid 70s when I was stationed at NAS North Island in San Diego, one of my coworkers was a rabid hockey fan from Cleveland. She had a mad crush on Gordie Howe and she and I and a couple of others used to go to hockey games before work (we worked the midnight shift.) I never did understand the game - still don’t - but we’d get to the hangar all hoarse and ever-so-slightly wired.

Didn’t a couple of his sons play also?

He played with his sons, with the Whalers in 1980.

Mowage has been achieved. I’m all showered and cleanded. I have also made up burgers for tonight’s dindin. The rest of the day shall be devoted to sloth.

RIP Gordie dawg’s namesake.

Sari how sad. I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss.

OK, time to go scrounge up some N.O.L. to be followed by nappage.

Laterz!

Lunch has been ingested, as has my after-lunch steroids. My arm feels like the muscles have turned to jello! So weird. I’ll start doing the exercises tonight. I may also do a load or two of laundry tonight and get them out on the lines to get a head start on tomorrow’s chores.

Learned some cool stuff about the software today. Creo is sooooooo non-intuitive, but my coworkers showed me one neat trick, and I figured out another all by myself. The interim futzing is very frustrating - I swear, I didn’t have problems like this with AutoCAD! Or maybe I did and I forgot about it. Either way, TGIF!! 4 hours to go…

Interferon works for viral hepatitis, which I don’t have. Not much I can do except live clean and wait.

I hate to be Donny Downer, but I got bad news from my biopsy from hell Monday. I am officially developing cirrhosis. This has been expected all along, but not quite so soon. I can now reasonably expect a transplant within 5-6 years, instead of 10.
[/QUOTE]

Well, keep that MELD at 6 as long as you can. (Weird scoring there, in that it starts at 6, rather than 0 or 1)

Keep in the back of your mind that a transplant will confer automatic temporary Social Security disability benefits. Get that process started the moment your docs say you’re on a transplant list.

Speaking of Social Security, I’m still overdrawn, waiting for the “Payment Center” to get their butts moving to re-pay what they took.

I got the call from the mortuary yesterday afternoon, and DH came home for the last time. Not sure if I mentioned it here or not earlier, but as I was getting the large sewing cabinet emptied out and ready to return to the store we bought it from, I found something that can only be a birthday gift for me. I remember the box arriving a couple of weeks ago and him spiriting it off to the sewing room.

**AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! **I am pounced/tackled/hugged

I meant to come back in & chat, but Janis nevvy #1 has been at my house all week, we went to the pool, he helped me cook, (He really really liked my meatloaf) played Monopoly & Villains & Vigilantes, watched Princess Bride for the first time &whacked all the weeks in my yerd. We have had a good week… Tonight we shall have a Sabbath Supper of S&G chicken, which I have been promising him for months
Rosie’s sig to all!

I have achieved N.O.L., nappage, and… bake a batch of tollhouse cookies from scratch even. Go Me! The cookies are a surprise for OYKW and also because I wanted some chawklit chip cookies.

Gotti that’s kind of bittersweet to find what was to be your birthday gift from DH. Also, glad you will be gettin’ that money back from SS.

I just realized that tomorrow is my team’s turn to mow the back forty over to the church house. With six team members that shouldn’t take too long to accomplish. I called dibs on Big Red. Big Red is the ancient zero turn mower that is hyuuuuuuuge, but a lot of fun to use at least to me. I used to be afraid of him but now I want to ride Big Red when it’s my team’s turn.

Had some lunch, talked with another friend.
Bills are all paid up.

Sah-son started sawing up the branches, but he was having a rough time of it.

I have lilies? out back, don’t know what kind, yellow with orange centers.

It’s such a pretty day, and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90s YUK!

The cat is back to hissing at him. We’re not very happy with the cat, it’s like not having a cat at all except for we still have to feed it and clean up the litter box. Sah-son thinks it would be the kinder thing to take him back and maybe he’ll find a home where he is happy, but I think this cat will not be happy anywhere. I’m debating getting another one, that will maybe pull this one out of his shell - but I’m afraid they will fight and make it worse.

Triffids.

i am awaitin’ the arrival of OYKW so the grillage of burgers can commence. I’s hongry!

Sari The cat may always be a lot of work. I think if you keep him, you’ll need to reconcile yourself to a long period of really just leaving him alone. Don’t go look for him (when you find his hiding places he’ll feel more threatened - no where is safe - paranoid kitty is paranoid). I don’t know if he’d be happy anywhere else. If you go for the second cat option, I’d suggest a female. Opposite gender will seem less of a threat, and may even seem interesting (even when the equipment isn’t all there). I’ve found that it’s easier adding opposite gender animals to the household. If you can, take time to select a kitten or find a very friendly and outgoing cat. You’ve saved one scaredy cat already!

Gotti I’m glad you found the present.

Happy Firday everyone!

Home and totally unmotivated. I’ll do yard work tomorrow. I’m going to veg tonight.

Two games refereed and one more to go at 6PM. Came home after the second one and tossed my uniform in the washer then over to the dryer to get the sweat out of it. Hot out there (93F). Did an OK job of refereeing, done better but no crying or moaning from the coaches or parents.

A little sore but better than I expected. When I mowed the lawn on Wednesday I thought I had broken in my new shoes and wore ‘dress’ socks instead of athletic soces and ended up with a couple of blisters on the back of my heels. Worried it was going to affect my refereeing, but bandages, rest, and some H2O2 have seemed to do the trick.

Biggest problem was the fields. Most U-10 games (7 v 7 players) are played on a field about 80 yards long and 40-44 yards wide. These fields are 80 yards long, but they are nearly 60 yards wide, adding nearing 1/3 more field to play (and for me to cover). Oh joy.

24 hours until my reunion. Just thought you’d like to know

Got everything at irk wrapped up by 1:30 so I left, went to the farmer’s market and the little grocery store. I think I’ll go to the ccomfort food place for supper tonight, then go to the big grocery. Such an exciting life. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m glad you found your birthday present, gotti.

rosie’s sig to everyone.

Nah, these are small and harmless.

I’m still trying to identify the white flowers. They look a bit like cow parsnip, but that’s not quite right either.
Sunny I don’t know what to do with him. I think though Sah-son has his feelings hurt because he didn’t want a cat in the first place and he has worked so hard to be friends.
I’ll go next Firday and maybe get a little girl cat, but I don’t want a kitten.

Burgers and sallit made for a good dindin. All is well.

You drank hydrogen peroxide??!!!

We let Cracker Barrel feed us, and afterwards, I ran into WalMart for kitteh litter and some cat treats. They had exactly ONE express line open and it had 7 or 8 people in it. I found a regular line that wasn’t too backed up, but all in all, it was nuts there! Still, that chore is done.

I just hung a load of jeans on the line. I’d have liked to get another load of something out there, but it’ll be dark before it finishes washing, so I’ll deal with it tomorrow. After I mow.

As for tonight, I’m going to do a few of my exercises, then veg.

We shall now retire to the boudoir. I’s sleepified. Who knew bein’ a semi-slug all day would be so tiresome!

Nitey Nite Y’all!
