The "I've finished the rhubarb pies" MMP

That’s what a pot roast is when it’s leftover. :stuck_out_tongue:

We have a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY in effect. Is it significant due to the fact that the weather PTB finally got it right and it actually is rainin’?

Also, I had an email from IBARF informin’ me they now have unlimited fries. So the next time we go there and get pancakes, Ima order me some fries!

Whatever the exact opposite of blurf is, I has it.

Airman and I spent Friday afternoon at his place of employment, filling out mortgage forms online and faxing other things back and forth. The mortgage guy walked the package across the hall to the underwriters, who are now doing their thing. So the mortgage broker gave his blessing for us to pack!!!

Excellent!

The Opposite of blurf is** Woot**!

So WOOT for you!!

Nappage has occured and pot roast is now in the dutch oven simmerin’ away and smellin’ nummy. MOOOOOOM if today is a taste of what retirement is like I say bring it on now!

Rockin’ congrats! Should we start a pool about which household repair you’ll have to take care of first?

{{{Pearl}}} ::tackle hug:: !!!

63 rhubarb pies sound about right.

We just had one pie made from our entire available stock of homegrown rhubarb.

It was good.

metal mouse, (from Sunday evening’s post) you eat like a six year old. :stuck_out_tongue:

rosie, Facebook has been the boon to class reunions everywhere. I went to my five year and said “meh”. Then FB happened and a couple of hundred of us (out of ~500) got together for the thirtieth. The thirty fifth is coming up in August. I will try to get up there. Oddly enough, even though I graduated 400 miles north of here, I live within an hour of five of my classmates, one of whose real estate office is just down the street from where I sit.

WTG, bat boy!

Yay, rockin’ and Airman!

I haven’t had rhubarb pie in years. I don’t eat many sweets anymore (damn dibeetus!) but always liked rhubarb pie or better yet, rhubarb dumplings.

Time to get back to the salt mine. I’m covered up and annoying cow-irker is behaving like a combination whiny toddler/defiant teen/curmudgeonly old woman and interrupting me everytime that I make progress on my work. I wish she would just retire already, but she still has a few months before she’s eligible for SS.

My younger niece’s birthday was a few days ago.

I remember when the nieces were younger and they’d complain about some sad thing in their poor little lives. I’d say, ‘If you think it’s bad now, wait til you get to be my age’.

My younger niece said, ‘I hope I never get to be as old as you are Aunt Sari’.

LOL Guess what?
I think I need to send her a text - remember when…

YAY! Rockin’

Front yard has been whacked, now he needs to get out back.
The seeds I planted have started to sprout, I’ll get my garden yet!
I know it will take a couple of years. Some of the stuff I want has to be planted in the fall.

I tried to blurf, but it sounded more like a splash this morning. We are having our second round of tropical storm rain (Bonnie, now Colin,) in between the usual evening thunderstorms, so the yard and the roads are getting squishy. (I think our county still has the record for the most miles of dirt roads in the state. The road crews just barely finished repairs on the washouts from Bonnie before Colin arrived. Thank goodness our road is usually passable, has little traffic, and the neighbors just did the big maintenance on their pond dam!)

Another summer cold is galloping through the household, and it’s cool-ish for Georgia in June, so I think we need soup tonight. Gotta get the bread rising shortly, and then decide what flavor pottage to throw in the pot. Maybe N.O.T., if I can talk The Boy into driving the 4WD to pick up some more milk…

Re: class reunions. Didn’t know about the 5th or 10th, and probably wouldn’t have gone anyway. Attended the 20th and 25th, and had fun. I guess I should start asking around, and maybe volunteer to help organize - next year is the 30th. We have a Facebook group already, so that definitely makes the logistics easier.

BatKid forgot to say earlier, but congrats on bein’ accepted for more skoolin’!

Peaches the west side of Jawja (particulary southwest) needs more of that rain. Maybe one of those tropical storms in the gulf will send us some.

Da cave smells so goooooooooood! The pot roast is perfection if’n I do say so myself. Steamed cabbage, lima beans, and cornbread shall be the sides. Brownies for dessert with ice cream even. Possible fartfest to follow.

Thank You!!;)

My graduating class was over 850 people, and I wasn’t close to very many of them, plus I moved away before the 10-year anniversary and haven’t been back all that much, so no, probably no 2021 50-year anniversary for me.

Debating myself on mowing the lawn today or waiting until Wednesday. I think Wednesday is going to win.

Congrats, robin and Doors. Enjoy.

If the pie does not have apples or pecans involved, I tend to pass on it.

Right around 2PM it got dark and started to rain. My clerk came to my office and told me I should go before it got worse. I grabbed my purse, ID, keys and dog and was out the door. I rang the boss to let him know I was leaving early and he was all confused :smack: I live 32 miles up the road. Dummy that one.

This Morning my hubs had to go to the emergency room for stitches in the back of his hand. Work accident. Normally he wouldn’t bother and just tape it up with electrical tape, not joking, but since he is now on blood thinners I guess he thought he was gonna bleed to death. After the stitches and a tetanus shot he went back to irk. I got home just as he was switching vehicles to give the friend who took him to the ER to KW to pick up a new truck :smack:

I did successfully fight off the creeping crud that was threatening me on the weekend. Yay for good immune system.

Rosie’s sig to all

Ugh, Anthem/Blue Cross is a bunch of poopyheads!

After DH passed, our health insurance converted to an individual plan. That part makes sense, but the bad part is that all of the bills for me that had gone to the overall “family” maximum out of pocket have been reset, so now I’m back to paying doctor bills at full cost to meet my deductible, then once again, nibbling my way towards a different out of pocket max.

GOTTI. That ain’t right. Seems to me it would have waited until the new year. SMH. I have no words.

Home at last. We dropped off the car for its 105K mile oil change and possible tire rotation.

Dryer to be delivered tomorrow. Not much to be done tonight. FCD’s tummy is off, so he doesn’t want supper. I’ll have some leftovers because it’s easy and I don’t feel like cooking.

And I’m looking for a different local orthopedic practice. I don’t want to go all the way to Prince Fred to see FCD’s guy and I refuse to go back to the woman I went to last time. I hate shopping for doctors.

Gotti, that’s just rotten - I agree that the switch ought to have happened at the start of the year! And FCM, I could recommend a great ortho practice for you, but I suspect that our guys in Savannah would be a little inconvenient for you! Good luck with the weather Buttercup - we’re getting a lot of rain from the northern bands, with the main event expected later tonight. Got the portable lights charged up and some drinking water and toilet flushing water stockpiled, but hopefully we’ll miss the worst weather here.

Swampy, come on over and get a truck load of rain any time. The last couple of months have been so wet that the neighbors just plowed and planted their fields, and I’m afraid that whatever they planted has washed into the creek by now. I think all of the rivers around here are at or above flood stage right now, too, so I expect we’ll start seeing a lot of road washouts from overtaxed creeks and culverts.

The Boy went to the bank and got milk, so I guess I shall settle down for an afternoon of paying bills and some N.O.T. soup and trying to keep the children from going stir crazy. Woot.

I wish I could give someone who bakes these homegrown bananas that are almost overripe. Can I freeze them on the hoof?

Dindin has been ingested. I got the highest possible compliment from OYKW who said, “it’s just like supper at granny’s house.” High praise indeed!

Peaches you can get milk at your bank? How strange. Convenient perhaps, but nonetheless strange. It has been rainy here all day but supposed to back to sunny and in the nineties tomorrow.

gotti I agree with everyone else. That sucks.

Butters, you can freeze 'nanners for later use in 'nanner bread! I’ve got a bag of frozen 'nanners in my freezer right now!

Rockin’ Yay!

Gotti Might be worth a conversation with someone. Do you get the insurance through your employer or through the state exchange? Trying to figure out the point of most leverage for you. Maybe one of those “7 on your side” tv spots they do around here, if it comes to that.

Today poor DH got up and headed off to work. He was first up for the first time in 9 months. I usually am up first to deal with kiddos. They’re out of school now. I took them out to breakfast, then we went to See’s Candy to buy dad consolation candy and did the weekly shopping. I am hiding in the dark again.

Class re-unions… I was in drama, and I had a very small class, but I never wanted to go. Maybe a drama club re-union, but otherwise I’m not that interested.

Rhubarb pie… I’ve baked them a time or two, usually with strawberries. Currently the family is not interested, so I haven’t in years. We’re also (the grownups anyway - darn kid metabolisms) watching our weight, so I don’t bake sweets nearly as often as I used to.
