The Just To Tick Everyone Off MMP

I love it when a plan [del]works out[/del] changes for the better. Congrats!

On a side note - holy crap! I can haz post! Much weirdness recently.

“The board is down for maintenance.”

Hey! I’m on.

*NO, you’re not. *

YES, I am!

:: post::
*
NOT
*
Whaaa? OK, back on again; yay!
*
Nope. *

Wait, swampy’s got what in the oven?!

Somebody’s gotta get me up to speed here…

::clueless::

Might try a new cake recipe today. I got it in one of the local papers.

We did Chinese for supper. I’m about to assume the knit position and chill. I’s tahred!!!
I made Bloody Mary mix because I had a request for Bloody Marys tomorrow evenin’. Not a drink I consider an “evenin’ drink” but one must please one’s guests must not one?
Bloody Marys at night? What’s next? Mimosas in the evening? Wearing white shoes after Labor Day? Not using coasters?

Re weather’s broken here too. Mid 50s, damp, drizzly and windy at noon. This at least was “fine English weather” for us as we were doing a Ren Faire promo today. I’m told that the same event at this time last year was in the mid 90s.

Off to ingest some prime rib, then stroll across the parking lot to buy a new terlet. The one in the master bath has been acting up, and it’s not much more expensive to just replace it than to mess around with buying a new seat and innards. The new one will be longer and taller, which should be more comfortable during my recovery.

gotti mimosas in the evening? Could you possibly have thought of anything more unthinkable! I mean, one could conceive of a Bloody Mary in the evenin’ bein’ as it is a proper breakfast/brunchy drink and as such could extend from a.m. to p.m. but a mimosa is strictly an a.m. drink. Even if one has a mimosa or three for brunch one knows that at noon one switches to a Bloody Mary on the dot. OJ and champagne are strictly mornin’! Anything else is just savage.

So, the fish fry was a success. Yes, it’s all over. We didn it early latish afteroon just so everyone would be gone by around seven. It’s been a very rainy dreary day but we were able to dine on the back porch as the temp was right pleasant for doin’ so. Thus, a good time was had by all. Also, I done good with food plannin’, so no leftovers. Go Me!

Yay for bein’ able to post again!!!

Gotti, what’s a coaster? :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh! I almost forgot the Fun & Excitement from last night!

So I get into work this morning and notice a big pile of potting soil next to the main entrance. I ask Night Audit Lady what happened and she said someone ran their car into the planter that used to be there just as Squirrel AGM was leaving last night. They pulled around to the back and got out of the car before the deputy on duty* got around there so he didn’t know who was driving and who to charge. Detailed AGM and I watched the security footage this morning. They nearly plowed into the front doors before they hit the planter.

You will all be shocked, I know, to discover alcohol was involved.

There will certainly be some consequences afoot when I get back in on Tuesday. I expect Big Boss to give me a full and complete update on the happenin’s and goings-on when and if they charge the guys for the damage.

*We’ve got off-duty deputys doing our security at night. There’s a no-tell methlab hotel next door and all kinds of crazies down Manstealer Rd at all hours.

Cakes are in the oven. I hope they turn out all right.

How could cake turn out anything but good? The idea that they could turn out not all right does not compute.

Update: The cakes taste not bad, though they were a little overdone. The recipe said to cook them for 35-40 minutes. I cooked them for only about 23 minutes, and they were still a little overdone.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I added an extra ingredient (added orange extract to a plain white cake recipe.)

I can try making them again sometime, cooking them for 20 minutes maybe.

I’ll eat a few and give the rest to swampy.

I did not work all day. I’m eating applewood chicken and rice, and drinking beer.

I am having lower flank cramps. Ergh

I worked at the annual plant sale at the park this afternoon. It was a beautiful day, so plants had already gone fast. Got to talk to a bunch of people, both old and new friends. Bought a few plants.

Came home and weeded,

Grilled burgers and brats for dinner.

Went for a walk and Dairy Queen.

Chillin’ now. Yay!

Saved a link earlier because there is apparently big flytrap news: The New York Botanical Garden

Hugs all.

I just got back from a showing of “Mysterious Island” , the 1961 version with Herbert Lom as Capt. Nemo. It was part of a greater Jules Verne film festival that ran Friday and Saturday over at the university. Regretably I was only able to get to the evening movie tonight.

I did win a door prize, the “Mysterious Island” dvd, but the one with Patrick Stewart as Nemo. As someone said, that one looks like Capt. Picard on the holodeck playing Nemo. Oh well, now I have something to throw in as a white elephant gift.

But next year they are bringing back the Godzilla film festival. It was on hiatus for two years, but the audience tonight, many of which were familiar faces, cheered when the announcement was made.

Anyone want to camp out here the first weekend in May, 2014? Free movies, although donations are gratefully accepted. We could watch movies, go see the rainbow house across from the Westboro Baptist church, and have a picnic!

so we are back?

'bout time

For the first time ever I cut my own hair yesterday. I think I was too severe, it is criminally short, but for a one-man job it appears to be okay, and it’ll be a decent workable length by the end of the month, I guess. Might have to buy a proper hair trimmer doodad if I attempt it again in the future, as I just used my cheapo beard trimmer.

That cake sounds REALLY good.

Happy Sunday!

It’s 15 degrees above freezing and the sun is starting to rise.
I’m up way too early.

The board seems a bit cranky this am, I think it needs a spanking.

Nothing important scheduled today.

Not so much sleeping in today - up at 6 with the dog. Naturally, **FCD **is still sleeping, because I’m nice, dammit! :stuck_out_tongue: It’s probably good that I’m up early, tho - it should mean I’ll be tired early tonight so’s I can get up at 5 tomorrow for work. WORK!!

Some time after 8, we’ll take our trash and recycling, then head to Lowe’s for some pressure treated boards so **FCD **can make a trio of plant stands for the deck. Now that we have furniture, my planters are lost, and I’d like them to be visible again. We’ll also pick up some weed and feed for the front lawn - after it gets mowed today, we can feed it before the week of rain sets in.

I’ve got a dozen or so pots of coneflowers and blacked-eyed susans to plant, plus one bleeding heart. Then I’ll put away all my planting stuff and take a break. But not till later. It’s 46° and overcast - not pleasant dirt-playing weather.

Happy Sunday!!

The annual arboretum plant sale this year got bumped to next week because of commencement, which is a month earlier due to the switch to semesters.

The plant sale has been the Saturday before Mother’s Day for aeons, so yesterday morning while I was doing some pre-commencement stuff, I ran into a very confused person who was looking for the plant sale. She’d driven more than an hour to get there. I was kind of surprised she was the only one who showed up looking for plants, but I felt sorry for her.
