The spring on the scissors of my SAK broke. I’ve been expecting it to, and it finally did. I have spares, but they’re a PITA to replace.
This really says inner hippie to me, and, um nope!

dot, I guess that puts Nelson in sturdy peasant stock then.
His water bowl is a double cappuccino mug of restaurant china.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and ready to see if the rain has let up enough to take Nelson out to do his business. Once that and KP is done, I’ll heathenate virtually. The usual Sunday chores will be accomplished at some point and poke roast, baked sweet potatoes and roasted green beans with mushrooms.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Happy Sunday!
It’s a sun shiny 70 degrees outside.
Nice morning at the park.
The fence guy didn’t make it yesterday, so he is supposed to come today to hang the gate.
Then he is going to look at my bathroom.
I don’t know what to do there.
It needs all the peeling paint scraped and to be repainted, as well as getting rid of some mold on the ceiling. However, I really want the entire bathroom redone. Or something. So not much sense in painting it until I decide what I want to do. If I am staying here, then I want a nice bathtub, or I could just get a walk in tub. But people I know who have them don’t like them. But maybe I should go ahead and get the back closet redone and expand the bathroom into there. Or maybe I’ll move and my new house would have a nice tub. Or I could just get a hot tub put out back and I can soak in that instead of having a bath tub. And do I need to get a new fan for the bathroom, maybe the one I have isn’t powerful enough and that is why there is mold on the ceiling. Or it could be that whoever did the work in the house before I bought it didn’t do a good job, like maybe he just painted over existing mold? Of course, it will take me 6 months, at least, to decide what color to paint the bathroom. I know it’s not going to be the color it is now, kind of a creamy off white. The whole dame house is painted in a creamy off white, and everything looks yellowish depending on the light, and I have had quite enough of dingy yellowish.
I didn’t do a damn thing yesterday except carry one load of clean laundry upstairs. I didn’t even put it away.
I have a long list of things to do today.
I have been here for 6 years and only one room has curtains, the living room. Looking at all the pics of curtains posted here, now I know why.
Yesterday? Hm…
I made breakfast: Leftover Shake & Bake pork chops, leftover packet Country Gravy, freshly-grated hashbrowns, and over-easy eggs. A couple of hours later (noon) I got a flu shot and then drove into town where I returned a box of nails to Home Despot and bought cat litter. On the way home I stopped in Ferndale to get some tamales. I switched cars to the MG and went and got some margarita mix. Mrs. L.A. called me as I was driving home and asked me to buy some limes, which I did. Later, I steamed the tamales.
Mrs. L.A. grouted and painted a window.
Guess I have some learning to do. Wanted to print out two recipes from this thread, and was too lazy to figure out how to get one post on a page.
If I printed out the entire thread, it would be 110 pages. That’s a lot of paper.
Made two batches of cookies today, one with chocolate chips and coconut oil (no eggs) and the other with a bit more traditional with coconut (not much, should have put it on the list), chocolate chips, oatmeal (in lieu of the missing coconut) and nuts. Should have enough cookies for some time.
Have to remember to skip breakfast tomorrow. Only water as I have a doctor’s appointment at 8:00 for them to stick me.
Yesterday I finished up trimming the hedge on the one side, and trimmed the other hedge as well. Looks a lot better. Next weekend I can work on the other overgrown bushes. They liked the nice weather from this summer, but I can’t leave them as they are. We often get really wet snow and that will break the branches.
Cut and paste into notepad, then print.
Also I confused Gordie last night. I stayed up late, and went to bed about the time I usually get yp to go to work( 0130 ). He kept looking in my room like, “Dude, are you OK? It’s time to get up for work.”
Replacing the spring was much easier than before. I must be getting the hang of it.
FCM, here’s the best combination – fancy camouflage drapes with a valance! The website is called “Touch of Class” so it must be classy! And it’s a “window treatment,” which sounds even classier!
You’re welcome. ![]()
MissOwl, you’re a sick, sick woman… not that I’m surprised.
The hutch is gone. There were a grand total of 9 cat toys and 1 dog bone hidden beneath. And there’s a pair of deep divots where it sat for the last 16 years.
SIL has removed all the stinky stuff from the basement - all I need to do is vacuum and it’ll be ready for the critters tomorrow. They won’t be happy, but they’ll deal.
Pellets will be delivered later this afternoon - I need to go get cash so I can pay the nice delivery guy.
Now it’s time to take down the curtains.
Happy Birthday to Midget and Boo. I am late as usual. I opened the thread and about had a heart attack thinking it was Moanday already. Lord know I shan’t miss irk.
Daughter and SIL left this morning. He had flown in on Thursday. Hubs had his facet block shots on Firday and is doing good. Dr. Said full affect will take 3-5 days. He can walk now but is very slow and unbalanced but he will be ok in time. I hope. It will be nice to have the house back to ourselves. I have a permanent case of tiredness. I bet I slept 20 out of 24 hours from Friday to Sat.
We had rain and lots of it from TS Sally. There was over 11inches in KW and our neighbor measured 4.53 on Firday night. Probably had more on Sat. I haven’t seen rain like that in forever.
I am a bad mumper So sending out hugs to all who need them. I just haven’t been on the net much at all. I preordered Bob Woodward’s new book as if I need anything more to piss me off. Thank goodness my Daughter thinks like me in that respect so no dancing around the politics or TV.
She was a huge help here and will be missed. Her dad has been a real grouch and even grouched at her one day I was at work and she texted me she was leaving right then. I called and talked her down. Now she knows he is not the perfect sweet man she always idolized. He is a very nice, sweet man to everyone but there is a bad side only I ever see until now. She celebrated her birthday while here and all that crap was on her birthday so it shall be one to remember for her. He probably won’t even remember.
I am still trying to buy a stair lift as I know in the future one or both of us will need it. I also know the nearest places I could find were in Sarasota and Boynton beach. There are tons of old people that retire here and most homes are on stilts so one would think they would be readily available. We v
Can get the lift with some modifications to the stairs for about $6K. An elevator which would require no mods is 25 to 30 grand. The problem with our beautiful stairs is there is a landing about halfway down and the lift needs a straight shot or we would need two lifts. Hubs is not thrilled about modifying our stairs but the guy who built them (Slick) Will probably do it for nada since hubby gave him an a/c a while back.
Barter is used a lot here. Wish we could barter for an elevator. I am not wanting to spend that much. It would be used as a dumb waiter anyway.
Curtains are down. I need to tack a sheet or something over the window on my side of the bed. The neighbor keeps his outside light burning all night and it shines into our bedroom. But I’ve got an old sheet somewhere and it’ll be easily removed for the painter.
Gotta run to a money machine so I can pay the guy bringing the pellets. Then… I don’t know - so much to be done. I’m beat already.
Fence is done!
I thought my yard would look smaller since it is now cut in half, but it actually looks bigger because you can’t see all the junk next door.
He looked at the bathroom and took some measurements. He says if I want a new bathtub I should get it now, otherwise I’ll just have to get the bathroom painted again after he tears the old tub and surround out. Also thinking about putting the plumbing in to move the washer and dryer to the upstairs closet. Too many decisions.
Getting the closet redone is not going to happen now. It can wait until next year.
Today’s schedule got blown because I woke up with a migraine, second one this week. Maybe it’s all the smoke? It’s down to the “hangover” part–only hurts when I stand up or bend over. But it screwed up my day.
Moooom, what a busy day! So much to do when you’re already tired! When all the painting, curtaining, kids-moving stuff is done, will you take a day completely off? Seems like you do the work of two people every day.
Butters, you need a week off to do nothing but sleep. Kudos to your kiddo, who sounds like a wonderful help.
Dot, glad the drive went well. PT sounds like a good idea that’ll really help. As for more sessions with the driving instructor, do you think that was just salesmanship? They probably get few requests for one session only. I guess I’m not sure of the point.
I would love to have a beaded curtain but the cats would destroy it in two seconds.
I have a heavy ceramic cat bowl and the kittens drink it dry every day. If I had a fountain they’d kill the motor. When do they stop being bottomless pit adolescents?
On Fridays and Saturdays I stay up past 10. At 9:55 Samantha comes to the bedroom door and LOOKS at me. It’s bedtime. Why am I still on the couch?
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got food from Publix, and napped. What? Somebody needs to sloth to counteract all MOOOOOOM’s business!
It’s been rainy off and on throughout the afternoon and looks like it might be stormy in a while. We shall see. I have hauled the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow and we have closed the garage door, signalin’ to the world we are in for the night.
MOOOOOOM yay for gettin’ rid of the hutch. That first pair of curtains you posted reminds me of a tablecloth my grandmother had. It was her everyday dinin’ room table tablecloth which she washed and ironed weekly. She also had a plastic cover over it to keep all us slobby granchilluns from messin’ it up, I guess.
red GMTA. I’m thinkin’ poke roast and sweet N.O.T. for sup tomorrow. Vegetative matter TBD but might be collard greens, which would mean I’d have to make cornbread. I live such a difficult life!
The guy from Tractor Supply is loading the pellets into our garage as I type this. He’s doing it on his own time, not as an employee. I thought it was mighty decent of him to do this. Of course, we’re paying him, but it’s more than worth it so that we didn’t have to do it ourselves. Been there, done that eons ago. No more!!

We had Chinese delivered for supper. 'Twas yum. The rest of the night will be chillage.
I’m glad you talked your daughter down butters. Sometimes even good, nice people can get a bit grouchy, especially when they hurt.
{{{nellie}}}
Supper is still in the oven. Unlike swampy, no cornbread is happening for tonight’s meal. It rained most of the day, and I think there may be flash flood warnings coming.
Nelson took a page from the Gordie playbook and refused to pee in the rain this morning. About noon, it slowed to a sprinkle for a brief time and I took him out. This afternoon, it stopped for a bit, so I took him out again. Little doofus!
I heathenated this morning (virtually) and played in the studio for a while. Now, it’s time to pull supper out of the oven.
I haven’t figured out dinner yet, but I got a (new!) rat customer comin’ over in a few, so that’ll have to keep for now.
I think she AND the other guy will become weekly regulars, which puts a few bucks in my pocket for as long as it works out on both sides. Yay!
Irk started out crabby-tastic but by the end of the shift, we were all joking around and laughing like hell.
Gotta get kitty litter & a few other sundries - might as well venture forth tonight. I’m still wearing pants, and maybe something will inspire me for dinner.
FCM and my aunt could be friends… and this place would definitely get cleaned and moved tho there’s a habit of once someone’s there to help … as for me most of the time I have to work up energy just to move about and play a video game …
