The Labo(u)r Day MMP

Evening all. Soccer has been coached, the girls were very shy at the start but as 9-11 years old will, they made friends fast and were all talking and chatting by the end. I know maybe a 1/3 of their names so far, the rest I am trying to learn. Ah well, still have Friday to get it figured out.

New camera that was due in on the 6th arrived today and has been programmed for picture taking, so that is 2 out of three major purchases in-house (the extra nightstand for the main bedroom should be in next week). Purple Heart has some blue jeans and shirts to use and dishes will be washing tomorrow.

{{{{Thel}}}}. If the Google Zoom works, I’ll try it out.

nellie, glad the jobs got done. And sari, pics of the fence once it’s completed would be nice.

FCM, that’s what happens when you leave the workforce…everything goes to hell…

flyboy, heck, I’d like to be seen in an MG (given my size, I don’t think it practical…)

{{{{ }}}} to all that needs them, and some more for those who don’t need them but are nice to hug anyway.

Mac-n-Cheese is almost assimilated, on to internettin’ and readin’ for the night. Take care all.

FCM: “where did you learn not to dust?”
FCDaughter:" FROM YOU! I LEARNED IT FROM YOU!"
:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yes, it’s absolutely helping. I’ve felt normal for the last week. Not sure what happened today. I desperately want a good night’s sleep.

Hey, a whole solid week of “normal” is nuthin’ to sneeze at!

Here’s hoping we ALL get some sleep tonight. Especially @Beckdawrek she’s running on fumes.

{stares idly upward for a bit, contemplating nothing in particular}
Good goddamn but my lamp shade is filthy!

Good. My sis said that had she not retired after last school year, she would have used all of her accumulated sick leave this year.

nellie, at least you got the jobs done, aggravating as the tardiness was.

Cuddling with a little brown dog before going to bed.

I am exhausted, but the Pooch Plunge was fun.
No Butterfingers in the pool that I saw.
Ripple did okay getting in this year, until he had to swim, then he was turning around and out.
Echo wanted no part of the water at all, however, she had a good time running around with the other dogs. A lot of the dogs won’t get in the pool, but they still have fun.

Both pups are exhausted.
They should sleep good tonight.

I know I will.

Don’t do what my brother did many, many years ago: stuff it in tube socks and put them in mom’s dryer on high tumble dry. Mom was not pleased! Dad was even less pleased.

Boo

Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Folding sheets is overrated. Enjoy the fresh sheets tonight. I just put my heavy blanket on my bed, we went from 70 degree nights to 42 degree nights in two days. The blanket is one of those weighted ones I inherited from my oldest son-going to see if it helps me with the troubles sleeping. His dog only chewed on a few edges…

BlanketedBoo

My local public pool does that on the last day of the season, figuring it doesn’t matter if butterfingers get in the pool I guess. Bet it was a fun sight to see. How come no pictures, hunh? Surely you know Mumper’s Pet Law: must include pictures.

They have an amazing amount of legroom.

Lemme know what you think! I’ve been kinda wanting one … I love having oodles of heavy quilts stacked on me anyway.

I tried a weighted blanket. It made me feel suffocated. I so wanted to love it.

Bug me In a couple of days if I haven’t gotten back with a blanket report-I have both an attention problem and an insomnia problem. Hard to say which came first and who cares, even if I knew, I would still have to deal with both of them. I love piled on blankets too. Big fat down comforters are my favorite.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work,

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis snerk 69! snerk Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and maybe some rain this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are willy-nilly today. Hopefully the bug man will be here today as I’m thinkin’ I got the day wrong. Also med should arrive at some point via FedEx. The other item on the agenda is to lay in provisions from the Pubic Sto’. Not sure which one of us will go yet. I guess whoever does not want to sit around waitin’ on FedEx which could be anytime today, though they’re usually really good about a.m. delivery. Sup shall be salmon patties, peas, smashed N.O.T. and bizkits due to a mutual gnawin’ and cravin’. 'Tis a southern USA comfort food thang.

Hope everyone got a good night’s sleep.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

You know why they don’t let donkeys in school? Because nobody likes a SMART ASS! :stuck_out_tongue:

OK, but that was kinda funny.

Interestingly enough, she texted me a photo of her kitchen last night - CLEAN!!! She said the rest of the house was still in disarray, but at least she could cook in an organized area. So there’s that.

Woke stupid early again, but I slept without Mel’s help - I count that as a win! Even tho I’m supposed to be Roxy-free on Weds, SIL will be moving more crap out of our basement, so I’ll wrangle the kid. Unfortunately, it’s supposed to rain today, ergo, no playground time. She likes to sit at the piano with me and sing along (the alphabet song, Twinkle, Twinkle, and Bah Bah Blacksheep are all the same tune - did you know that??) but singing doesn’t wear her out like climbing and running. And I can’t take her to the marine museum because she won’t wear a mask. I’ll figure out something.

Meanwhile, I need to head out and pick her up at school. And so it begins…

Happy Wednesday!

PS - I’d love a Mumper chat/Zoom/whatever on non-Roxy days. East coast here.

Blurf.

Started my day scooping out the litter box - my last conscious thought last night was “Dang, Monkey, was that you just now?!”

Off the the salt mines in a bit. Supposed to be rainy - maybe I’ll bring a change of clothes so I’m not stuck in wet jeans all day.

Blurf, I say, and blurf again!

Well, that was not the plan for today. The car doctor hath decreed the car is unfit for the roads without having work done- and, due to a whole bunch of factors, they can’t do it today. They even phoned round everywhere else in the area, and every single place replied with ‘Not a chance’. As garages here were only allowed to do urgent safety stuff during lockdown, the normal 1 year safety certificate- the MOT- got extended by 6 months for people who had it expire. I was one the people who got 6 months extra free, so the normal workload has basically doubled, at least at present.

I need to be 28 miles away at 9.00 at the latest tomorrow morning. No flexibility; I have a class and I’m already the last person on the list. There is no feasible public transport which will get me there in time. Hopefully the garage will be able to lend me a courtesy car, but there are no guarantees they have one available, and wrangling is still ongoing.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be under the bed with some comic books, pretending I’m 5 and have no responsibilities.

This week was stressful enough without this…

Nut, if they really need you there, something will be worked out, probably at the last minute… Good luck.

flyboy, isn’t the legroom, not sure I could lower myself in, and once in, you’d have to roll me out…

Just retrieved the paper from the driveway, so Sudoku-solving and jumble-depuzzling will take place shortly. Heading for 90F but not a chance of rain, so will water the yard on Thorsday (that’ll bring in a Thunderstorm…).

Now to prepare some sustenance. All y’all have a good Hump Day.

Afternoon, mumpers!

Nut I hope they manage to find you a courtesy car to get you to irk. It’s difficult when you are so far away from irk and there’s no reliable public transport. I got my car MoT’d on the first day of lockdown as it was already booked in so I’m ok until next March but I seriously hope I don’t need any fixing done in between as that could be very hard to organise. HE continues to be madness, my boss and I are making executive decisions and generally fudging stuff to get our students sorted out. Nobody really knows what they’re doing - one thing I said to the boss is that I’ve got an electronically-signed Chair’s Action form and I’m not afraid to use it!

shoe I cleaned the cats’ litter tray and it had been used within a couple of minutes of fresh litter going in. Sadly the deposit from the cat (pretty sure it was Ophelia) meant I had to clean it again!

I have done laundry today, and have to go grocery shopping later in the day, then I am off to the pub with two friends tonight before de Pfeffel decides we can’t do that any longer. Socialising in groups of six maximum is a fine idea, we were at a lovely pub last Wednesday and there were probably six of us in there including the bar staff!

Currently listening to a presentation on workplace mental health while I’m posting on here…cruel irony?! :grinning: :grinning:
