The last minute MMP

Ellen, so sorry to hear about your sick child. I hope everything is better soon.

swampy, you sound like a good cook. Your descriptions make me hungry even if I’m a vegan and don’t eat lasagna.

Hank, very nice picture. What a bunch of nice-looking friends you have!

Jahdra, would calling the police have helped the alarm to stop faster?

rosie, do you like the peapod service? I was thinking of trying safeway.com but wondered if they pick nice fresh stuff like I would take the time to pick.

FCM, I’m looking forward to your MMP.

As for me, I’m struggling with a bad headache (hopefully which won’t turn into a migraine) tonight after a beautiful 74 degree F weather day. Oddly, it felt almost too hot jumping from low 60’s to mid 70’s, but I’m not complaining. I love the sun.

My big trauma for the day was that I was replacing my batteries in my smoke detectors and after I put the new batteries in, I found that I can’t open the battery door anymore. So I had a little meltdown and will try to call the company on Monday or Tuesday to see if they can help. Any of you have any ideas?

My big treat for the day was buying some velvet posters to color. I love coloring. I use all kinds of mediums. . . colored pencils, water color pencils, markers, crayons, water color paints, water color crayons, pastels, etc. I’m very bad at coloring or drawing but I really like putting colors together. And I find it very relaxing sometimes. There are velvet posters that have hidden ‘highlights’ in some of the parts that you color (it’s like a slight dye resist), so I bought some of those because they’re fun and they were on sale today.

Roo - I like the convenience of Peapod, since walking and carrying heavy bags are beyond my abilities these days. I don’t have the patience for supermarkets either. I rarely have a problem with their produce and other fresh products. There was once time I got some yogurts and had to finish them all within 3 days, but that kind of thing is rare. My only issue is that I cannot buy smaller quantities of deli items or milk. But I deal. Also, because I’ve got a permanent “arthritis” comment on my account, they bring the bags up to the kitchen for me. Usually they leave them at the door for you to lug around the house, but hey - you don’t have to stand on line behind some jerk who bought his penny jar in to pay with.

I like “coloring” too. I do mine in Photoshop.

Yeah - I’ve actually noticed that it takes longer for me to recover from these nights than it did for my freshman year. Not that I drink anywhere near that much/often anymore. Honest!

I use Peapod sometimes, but only when I have a lot of stuff to buy. It is rather convenient and fairly cheap (although you do have a delivery fee).

since I have no good reason for being up at 2 am - I will go to sleep

I have no good reason for being up and about at 5AM, but I have one annoying reason: Scruffy. She decided since I got up to pee, she should be permitted to pee also. So I donned sweatpants, my fleece robe, and my boots, added my hat and fleece jacket, and took the canines out to tour the yard. They attended to their toilette and have now been fed. Both are getting comfy for a post-potty nap, and I’m wide awake. So I shall make good use of my quiet time - them Sunday funnies won’t read themselves, you know!

**doggiebut ** - I don’t have the right face shape for a buzzcut. :stuck_out_tongue: But while I was at Mom’s yesterday, I asked her to take off about an inch all around. My hair was getting out of control and I really hate going to a salon or a cuttery. Mom’s not a pro, but the price is right, and since my coif is pretty much short and feathered/layered/random, it wasn’t a big deal to shorten it.

Heff, part of the reason I didn’t crawl back under the covers next to my snoring sweetie is that I got to thinking about tomorrow’s MMP, and I figured now was as good a time as any to open Word and begin the first draft…

Happy Sunday, all!

Would you all keep the noise down please? Some of us spent far too long in the pub yesterday and had a little more “Spitfire” than we would normally…

It’s going to be a busy day today though - yesterday 'im indoors forgot to shut the bedroom door and Shadow decided to go and wee on the duvet again. So that’s an extra trip down to the launderette to get the duvet washed.

That’s after I have to clean the kitchen, finish cleaning the bathroom, sort out some fancy dress outfits, do some baking, wash the bedding, go shopping and start looking at our summer music festival schedule.

I suppose I’d better get on with it then…go on, envy me.

FEELIN’ ANY BETTER BOOFAE???!!!

I’m up and caffienating. I woke up to pee and that was it. I couldn’t go back to bed. Maybe I’ll go purty up in a bit. It’s not as cold here as it has been but it’s windy. Like March windy outside, so it feels colder.

Ok, off to do stuff. Later y’all!

Well, I’m up and getting ready for chuch. I have no plans for today, except reading the paper.
BooFae, you know what’s good for a hangover? Heavy drinking the night before! HaHa! I crack me up!

Happy Lunar New Year Haze!! Rice cake soup sounds good, unless it’s those flavorless rice cakes. ick.

Showered, dressed, ready to go get some breakfast… And tomorrow’s MMP is ready. Go me!

I’m up. Morning, everyone.

We went to church yesterday, so I’m going to run around organizing things until it’s time for work. We both have an allergy to putting things away, so everything gets messy fast.

Yawn.

We built a reasonable-sized snow fort yesterday. Not enough snow for a proper 7-foot walls with crenellations (sp?) and interior hiding space one. It was waist-high, fifteen feet across, and only took two and a half hours. Nice weather last night, too. Fairly warm.

I just plated up the cheese crisps. Dang, I make good cheese crisps! I know cause a couple ummm… “accidentally” fell into my mouth. I was in some kind of strange anti-gravity field when it happened. Really. What? Gravity never goes weird on anybody else?

LiLi I’m glad you had fun building your snow fort but, ya know, I’ve never done that and it will be all right with me if I never get that opportunity. Tell you what though, it’s ok if you think about me while building one.

FCM yay for what will be a timely MMP! I think you need some french toast for breakfast. That’s cause, if I was gonna make breakfast I think that’s what I’d make. Instead it’s cereal and milk at the swampcave this mornin’. Well, it was cereal and milk cause I already et it.

G’mornin’, folks!

We are gonna have steak omelettes for breakfast, from leftover T-bones we had last night. Later today we’re going to go root out suitable stuff for ReboSon’s new apartment. We have a 1970’s style very thick glass topped dining table, and maybe some lamps. I can’t remember what else is in there.

And of course, grocery shopping. I had my menus all planned out by Thursday! I had to make sure I have easy stuff on hand, since I have to go back to work on Tuesday. I’m alternating between Yay! and Uggh…

Friday I finally went and had my spa day. For anyone who has never had a facial - GO! It’s heaven. I had the facial and massage, and got my nails and toenails done. I guess I’m ready for work!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Salukis?

salukis?
SALUKIS!

I got a Saluki! When I was leaving Miami, I asked my internet friends who could lend me a sofa for a few days, sincce I had two weeks between the end of my work permit and the flight home. The only ones who put their sofa where their mouth had been for a couple years were two Cdalers, so I greyhounded my way there. Had a great time, specially when they told other people I was there and they hopped over.

Went with one of the friends, Mike, to visit another, we stopped by the uni to see his mom. As we were walking to her office, i said “isn’t that your mom?”

Turns out it was. I hadn’t seen any pics and Mike swears everybody tells him he looks just like his dad, but he has the same chipmunk cheeks and eyes as his mom, methinks people are blind.

Mmmmm, French Toast sounds good. And I have the ingredients and everything.

I’m still all sniffly. I think I caught my little brother’s cold. Last time he gets to spend the night at my house!! Grumbles about nasty germ-sharing germ sharer

I’m considering a shower and then breakfast. I might go to church around the corner to avoid having to clear snow off my car.

Gravity is not my friend. nuff said

It’s been cold all week, but sunny and ever-so-slightly above freezing, so the blanket of ice is going away. I’ve not left the house since Monday and I’m a little stir crazy.

I don’t know the exact transliteration but

to Haze and everyone else

Mmm. I’m having stew for breakfast.

What? It’s got protein and veggies, and I’m dipping focaccia in it. It’s yummy.

If I make a black bean chicken bok choy broccoli thing and freeze it, do you think it’ll be horrible? I’ve never frozen bok choy before.

bok choy is in the cabbage family. I suppose if it’s already cooked and well sealed, anythiing could be frozen with no ill effects

Ahoy there. I’m not hungover, thank you very much - although my feet are sore. I went to a dance event last night. Performances by dance troupes followed by an open floor with a DJ. The performances were amazing and the dancing was fun.

Plans for today include quantum mechanics homework and, apparently, revising my grading on the test for the class I’m TAing. Evidently I was too harsh. Bah.

swampus, what are cheese crisps?

I need to learn how to make some good stews. Those would be good to make for dinner sometimes. Mmm, food. Speaking of food, I think it’s time for mac & cheese with a side of a Star Trek: DS9 episode.

Nava - And they won! On the road, on national TV, against a higher ranked, really good team from Butler. The neighbors must think someone was getting beaten up over here…

rigs - I’m with you, I love the Shedd - when the Kid was in 5th grade - right after that big new fancy addition opened, her class had an over night sleepover there. We got there for dinner, they had activities, like a scavenger hunt, and some fun hands on classes and such, and had the run of the whole place. Maybe 90 kids, chaperones in that huge place by themselves. We slept in those galleries - lit only by the bluish light from the tanks. Way, way cool. Then in the morning, we had a private show in the porpoise tank place.

Can’t you buy reserved tickets in advance these days?

I’m about to make breakfast - ok, dump some corn flakes in a bowl, and toast a muffin - but it’s early (for me, for Sunday) so it’s breakfast dammit.

Then off to workout, clean up and I’m a running to the mawl for some new boots. Perhaps the library for a couple books before I head home. Tonight is burgers on the grill.

Haze - nice pics, the dirty old man in me thinks you and your friends should invite me to party some day.

Wife? What wife? Oh, that wife… Uh, she’s allergic. She’d love to, but can’t.

Normally we don’t admit dirty old men, but for you, MBG, an exception will be made.

As anyrose said so colorfully, Happy Lunar New Year everyone! Saehae bok manni baduesaeyo!

Me have much work to do today. Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
