Jahdra - I live around the corner from some commercial properties and at least once a week, some store’s alarm goes off and rings for what seems like hours. In the wee small hours. It starts off by invading my dreams and by the time I wake up, I have no clue how long it’s been sounding, and it always takes a good half hour before it stops.
swampy - save some breakfast, I’ll be there (half hour to dress and pack, 45 minutes to the airport, 3 hour flight) in time for lunch Meanwhile, put the cookies down, or I’ll tell fcMom
I am up, dressed, packed and ready to head to the bus. Road Trip! And ya’ll know - what happens on road trip stays on road trip.
I found a bag of baby carrots for my seat mate, who had a mad crush on one of the players. The bag says “Bunny Luv”. How could I not get them for a potential puck bunny?
Speaking of pucks - DB, you should be getting a small package in a few days.
Wow - where did all the coffee in my cup go? Must go refill.
Good morning! This PC is slowly dying I think. It freezes up after an hour and is painfully slow. I was going to re-install ME, but I can’t find the product key. (maybe I am a poet, and don’t know it). An old friend is coming down to see his mom in the hospital, we will meet up after I get off work today.
tone it down, people. Hank has too much blood in her alcohol this morning
LiLi, that’s what happened to my regular PC.
swampy, I love the sound of tapped kegs in the morning! Charlie don’t tailgate!
Jahdra, I am on the main road, so I sleep through fire engines, trash pick ups, and sleep howling.
SCL, you want puck bunny? One of the girls in the booster club has a crush on a player who was traded away, then came back. First game back she was pounding the glass so hard she almost broke it.
rosie I just made up a lasagna which is chillin’ in the fridge gettin’ all lasagny good. I’ll bake it soon as you get here.
It’s cold outside but gonna get up to mid fifties this afternoon. I decided it was a good lasagna day, especially bein’ as I just happened to have all the fixin’s for lasagna. The ground beast I had taken out of the freezer was gonna be burgers until I made this highly executive decision.
LiLi did you jump up and down on Mr. Lissar? Is he cleaning up what he did to the puter? He should. Tell him it is now a firm rule… no more downloading weird stuff.
I’m considerin’ a little naptime. It sounds like a good idea to me.
<perks up> Ahem…there is something called an Lady Eleanor Scarf?
and that should be made for MOI, no? <bats eyes in general direction of all knitters…I look my best in BLUE. To go with my lyin’ BLUE EYES, of course>
I am home. It is Saturday and we are going to the John G. Shedd Aquarium, come hell or high water (high ice?). I haven’t been out in quite some time and this will be fun.
It took me 90 minutes to get home last night from work. At the very entrance to the expressway, there was a huge accident, with many cars and lots of paramedics and cops (who just stood around-what are they there for?). Anyhoo, I couldn’t get on the highway, which was a bad thing, because I didn’t know an alternate route (well, I knew one years ago, but wasn’t sure I could find it in the dark etc.) So, I drove east, and then south. Found Torrence, a street I know, and just used it. But to get out of the mess around the accident (I wasn’t the only one trying to find an alternate–go figure!), took me 40 minutes. I had to stop for gas as well (figured I probably shouldn’t run out in a strange neighborhood in the dark and all…nothing gets by ME!).
So, am off to do suburban family city outing. happy Saturday all!
Naptime? Sheesh, I’ve been up for about an hour, you get up too early.
I too had far too much to drink last night, but I was a good boy and did it right here on the floor in front of a nice fire. The Kid worked and came home after, at about 9:30 - she made cookies, I started a fire, and we watched the original Casino Royale on On Demand. She kept looking at me saying “Dad, this is one WEIRD movie…”
I told her it wasn’t like the Casino Royale she just saw at the theater, but does she listen?
Busy day, and I should get to it - we got snow I have to clear off, then take the wife to get our taxes signed and filed, deliver some Avon for her and do some grocery shopping. Then, back here - do some vacuuming, and get some workish work done.
Tonight I think is a stay in and watch movies kinda night.
We had chili dogs for lunch. You know, Lazy Husband has a miniature dachshund. We could totally make a bun-shaped bed, and pile chili on it, and insert him. Or something.
Now to clean the kitchen. Oh, for anyone who observes Lent, I’ve started a thread in IMHO. Please drop in!
why do we always keep SHOUTING at the folks who PARTIED TOO MUCH? That’s mean!
Lasagna sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately all I have is frozen diet lasagna, but Peapod is coming tomorrow, so I will tack a few Stouffers* (just for emergencies) onto the list. Today, soup will have to suffice.
Ohhhhhhhh, the fun never ends around here. Exit the pukies, enter the back-door trots. My poor little darling. Poor mama! Up two nights in a row. Yawn. Ah, the joys of motherhood. They’re much more joyous when they don’t involve gross things spurting from either end of the offspring, and mounds and mounds of laundry.
It’s a Winter Wonderland here; very snow-globe~y.
I’m just waiting for poor baby’s germs to begin the rounds of the other family members. Say ‘healthful intestinal tract’ prayers for me, would y’all? <pitiful face>
Tigs, yes, I’m making the Lady Eleanor in Silk Garden #243. I’m using 10s, and I got stitch AND row gauge, quite a feat for me. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Plus, it comes together beautifully in Noro, with each rectangle a new color. Rigs, here’s a picture of the original Lady Eleanor stole. You’ll note that you can have it knitted for you, for the low, low price of $360+. I’ve seen tons of pictures online, and they’re all beautiful.
canineservant, normally I sleep through everything, since I leave near the airport, the train tracks and a major highway. Sirens, jets taking off, train whistles and rattling rails don’t bother me. But that car alarm was *right *outside my window while I was having a 3 vicodin migraine. It finally stopped going off for a few hours, and then started again around 6. However, I could take another vicodin then, so I managed to go back to sleep.
Skunk, the little stinker, has been determined to get my attention today. He jumped up on the wireless router - BAM! - no internet access, knocked over a speaker, and just now tried to pull my knitting off my desk. He’s on The List now.
Rosie I confess to “making” lasagna the Stouffer’s way a lot. Especially for a crowd. I mean, it’s good and it beats spending a couple hours puttin’ a huuuuuuge lasagna together. Tonight’s lasagna is homemade cause it’s a small one that’s meant to be dindin tonight and lunch tomorrow along with a salad and some good crusty Eyetalian garlic bread. By small I mean it’s a three quart casserole. That’s small for lasagna purposes.
The cheese crisps are all made and in an air tight container so they will stay all crunchy. Tomorrow morning before headin’ out for church I’ll put 'em on a glass platter and cover 'em tight. Ah the wonders of plastic wrap!
Ellen here’s hopin’ Baby Cherry is all better and that The Sick does not infect the rest of the family.
Jah I’ve heard that a flamethrower is pretty effective in getting a car alarm to stop. Just sayin’ is all.
Dinner here tonight is pork stuffed green peppers. I confess to buying them just like that from the butcher’s. A little water in the bottom of a roasting pan, these things on a rack, and covered - they should be nicely done.
While I was at the store, I found a fresh duckling - I think that’ll be Monday, after the Kid goes back to school. She used to love duck, but not lately. I’ll make my black tea/honey/lemon zest glaze, do the thing in halfsies (so’s it cooks faster), I’ll make some dumplings, warm some sauerkraut and pretend I’m an old Bohemian woman - probably serve it up wearing a plaid apron or something.
My Salukis are on ESPN right now - so I’m going to keep myself plopped here on the couch and watch.
Hello all. I had a teaching demonstration this morning and had to do it through a haze of a hangover, thankyouverymuch. But last night was glorious - the music was all 80s and 90s and once people got drunk they danced like there was no tomorrow. Here’s a couple of pics. (It wasn’t a serious dance party so the fanciness of the dresses varied - some people just came in jeans.)
Tomorrow’s Lunar New Year so I’m having rice cake soup instead of lasagna.
Um…for that price, I think I’ll stick with this polar fleece vest I have on. TJMaxx and onlhy $10! Tis my Rig’s er, waistcoat.
What is WRONG with the John G Shedd Aquarium? I would like to know. Last year, this time, we tried to go to it, and the line was too long–and it was below zero, so we went to the Field Museum instead. THIS year, we tried to go to it, but the line was too long and not moving at all (but it was warmer out), so we went to the Adler Planetarium. (for those not familiar with Chicago, all of these museums are a short walk from one another on a now beautiful campus).
#2 son is convinced that he will never see sharks. I promised him the next day he is off school-we are going to the Aquarium…We went to the Planetarium and had a great time, but as we were leaving, several hours later–the line for the Shedd was still as LONG!
Going out to rent a DVD and cozy up for the night. Had my post-museum nap (does everyone do that?)
I am home from work, the dog is walked, and leftovers are nuking. I’ll have a beerverage or two and see how much I can surf before the closet PC locks up.
I’m assuming that group is your little circle of friends? I feel bad for the brunette on the right - she’s almost a foot taller than the next tallest.
But you all look terrific and toasted
Honey, get it out of your system now, because the older you get, the longer it takes to recover from those little binges.
