The last minute MMP

I have a nasty headache. And I can’t take anything for it – I already take as much Tylenol daily as the doc wants me to, and as of yesterday I’m not allowed to take ibuprofen because of my upcoming surgery.

Waah! I want something for my headache! ::stomps foot and pouts::

Curses! We just got an email warning of winter storms tonight. Looks like that snow is headed my way Haze. I certainly wouldn’t mind if you wanted to keep it all for youself…

Good luck to Drae and Swampy!

It’s still frigidly cold here. The high of -11C and low of -12C that are still being displayed on my daily forecast is a bunch of unmitigated hooey.

I think the storm Hank is currently enjoying is heading my way, as we’re supposed to get hit pretty good. Yecch.

I want me some spring!

I don’t know about the rest of the welbyland denizens, but I’ll take it! I love snow. Especially when it gets me out of work.

Currently the [del]magic 8 ball readers [/del] forecasters claim we’re only going to get an inch of ice. They’re wrong so often, I’m hoping this is just another screw up.

Come on snow, you can do it!

And of course, you can’t back out now because we’re all waiting for you to report back on how it went.

But, HAZE–it’s still wonderful. I feel like Laura Ingalls Wilder…
Got the drywall into the garage (I told the forklift operator that I loved him for doing it–thank god all he did was smile at me! I shouldn’t be let out alone). Groceries in and driveway shovelled for now. All’s good.

Went and got Daughter from HS (it NEVER closes)–she is not feeling well. Kinda wish I could have gotten #1 son as well, then we’d all be home and safe.

MMMMMM… my house smells like pot roast… well, the kitchen anyways. Ima steam some broccoli and make some cornbread to go with it. MMMMMM… Heck, I’m even toyin’ with the idea of makin’ a peach cobbler just cause I’m home, I got some good vanilla ice cream to go with it and it’ll make ol’ y’all know who need to do sump’n to show his appreciation.

It’s raining here. Over two inches in the very unofficial rain gauge out by the pool. Pool itself is waaaaaaaaaay full but I can’t do anything about it while it’s raining. Weird ain’t it that I’m gonna need to drain the pool a bit in February?

I was gonna say, “Hey!”, because earlier I was checking district web sites to see, and it looked like that one was closed too.

haze - the Bus Kid agrees with you. She’s at a certain, large-ish state school about 35-40 minutes west of me here, and she desperately wants a snow day too. She was supposed to go to her job at the mawl this afternoon at 5, but that would have required her to drive 30 miles along a wide open, snow-drifty stretch of Interstate that’s currently on the verge of being closed by the troopers.

So, she called in…unavailable due to weather.

I blew snow around off of the driveway, but I know I’ll be out there at least one more time tonight. Then I did some quick grocery shopping, now I’m getting some work done, then perhaps a nap with Young Cuervo on my lap.

Yeah, but it beats the heck out of shoveling your driveway.

We’re under a severe thunderstorm alert until 7 PM which also beats the heck out of shoveling…although it would be nice if we got a storm day.

I got a snow day - my class is cancelled for tonight - woo and hoo! Actually, it’s not so much snowy as icy, and I really didn’t relish the thought of taking on slippery county roads late at night.

When I left work today, I had to scrape ice blobs off my windshield - I think the temp was hovering right around freezing but not much below. Luckily, my heater is good and it didn’t take long for the car to be cozy warm. Plus once I got home and walked the critters, they weren’t interested in lingering out in the weather.

The gummint in DC closed at 2, but **FCD ** didn’t leave till almost 3. If he gets home by 5, I’ll be surprised. But I’ve got a big pot o’sketty sauce simmering on the stove, so when he gets here, I’ll have a hot meal ready, as soon as I boil the pasta. Plus, my sketty sauce-making skills are right up there with my soup-making skills. Yum!

Apparently, the meeting with Idiot Stupidhead was extremely benign. He didn’t get spanked or anything. I did find out why the one error was introduced on my page, although they didn’t explain why they didn’t just ask me to come in and correct it. But I’ll be fixing it tomorrow, and by the end of the week, we should be posting the corrected pages and that will be that. Then I can move on to my new project.

**FCD ** just called - he’s almost home - his commute wasn’t nearly as nasty as he’d expected. Yay!

Good lucks to **Drae ** and **swampy ** (even if you won’t clean my house) - neither of you is allowed to devolve into the bum mode. I have spoken!

There is no snow in Raleigh, but there will be ice on the rink tonight. We were in a tizzy all day because BIG COMPANY was supposed to show up. They didn’t, of course.

Got to run so, Good luck! Feel better! Don’t put that in your mouth, you dn’t know where it’s been!

MBG–the HS, HF, still had school. From what I hear, only Rich Central and HF were in. Bet the drivers were pissed…heh.

We are all home (except husband) and cozy warm. Ham and sweet potato biscuits for dinner. Then homework.

It looks like I never shovelled a thing out there. Have I said I love winter? I do! Call me crazy, but this is fun for me (of course, outside is optional for me, which makes a difference…)

#2 son asked me today if this was a blizzard. I said winter snow storm, but I’m thinking blizzard now. He got all excited and said he’d never seen one. I was taken aback by that, but he is right. The winters since he’s been born have all been mild and fairly light on snow.
I could go on, but that’s enough fascinating discourse for now.

The Weather Channel tells me one to two inches, but News 12 (which is a local station) says six to ten. I can tell you, however, that it ain’t snowin’ yet.

That sounds a little naughty!

OK, I’m just catching up from last week. Sorry to hear about the job, swampy. Good luck with the interviews. And good luck to **Drae ** too. I don’t envy you the job hunt. It is No Fun.

To those of you who are thankful that you’re in a place where you don’t have to shovel snow… well, the rest of us are thankful we don’t have to worry about hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. I’ll take the snow and cold over those any day!

Good weekend at home. Saw lots of people. Had fun catching up. Watched a lousy hockey game. Ate too much. Misplaced pronouns.

Now too much work.

Rigsy? Sweet potato biscuits? Please give a recipe. They sound yum!

I’m sorry for all the bad weather and related The Sick - it’s nice down here. We just got a rainy cold front yesterday, and today is sunny with a high of 60°. I’m grilling baby back ribs. It’s supposed to be nippy tonight and tomorrow night - mid 30’s…

I’m sitting here going through all our CD’s and re-ripping to mp3 format. You can’t do jack with a wma. (I’m too cheap to buy conversion software.) It’s kinda fun though. I keep finding stuff I didn’t know we had!

I came home pretty early. We had no snow day, unlike just about everyone else in central Ohio. Little brother is staying over another night due to icky weather. But he went out to dinner with some friends after his workshop today. I’m considering a tuna melt. Not sure why that sounds good tonight, maybe cuz of the warm melty part?

It’s so nice to have you back in the MMP, Ellen. And very kind of you to drag Rue back in. I’ve met him as well, although I’m not sure that he knows the color of my eyes. (You should come to his picnic etc. in May, by the way.)

Sweet potato biscuits sound good to me too.

Universities have snow days, Hank, very occasionally. OSU actually cancelled classes this afternoon. (They’ve closed something like 3 times in the past 25 years.)

Glad to hear about all the interviews. We’ll expect updates, of course.

And, picunurse? What zelie said.

I’m getting hungry, so I guess I should go locate some food. (Ya think?)

Back after a while…

GT

Dinner was nummy if’n I do say so myself. The peach cobbler should be out of the oven in about fifteen minutes. Somebody is beside himself with peach cobbler happiness. I shall expect a reward.

Oh, I get taken out to dinner tomorrow night! We’re goin’ for Eyetalian. Then, as is tradition, hit the stores for all the cheap Valentine’s chocolate. See, that’s how we give each other Valentine’s, by buying cheap chocolate. Almost too romantic for words ain’t it?

It’s too blowy and snowy for me to out. It’s all pretty, though. Thanks for the offer, Mork. I’ll take all of it.

I’m going to scrounge up some dinner and read.

Why am I so surprised at the stupidity I encountered today? Since I use an EZPass to pay my daily bridge toll, I have to make sure my vehicles are listed in my account. Today I made the entry for my Scion, except there was no option for Scion in the “Make” pulldown. Because Toyota makes the Scion brand, I picked Toyota, then sent a message to the EZPass people asking them to add Scion to the pulldown.

I just got a message back that they fixed it. So I checked the site, only to see that I’m driving a Toyota Scion, not a Scion xA. I guess we don’t speak the same English.

Whatever. What really matters is the license tag number, and that’s correct.

But they’re still idiots.

And for the record, my back yard is crunchy. I just took Scruffy out to pee and I had to step gingerly. Boo on ice!

Totally! Mindfield, **Alistair ** - y’all just need to use your imagination a bit more.

Some of the profs actually did cancel classes today, and most administrative offices closed early. It is ridiculous out there right now - the snow is like granulated sugar and actually hurts when it hits you in the face. And yet my friends and I are still determined to go to pub trivia night. Pray that we don’t end up stuck in the pub till spring.

Actually, that doesn’t sound so bad…
