Blurfage. Another day of futzing around. Doing laundry all day. I am almost done. The maid comes tomorrow and she won’t even have to change the bed. Hubby actually got out of the house alone and went to look at a job. He was tuckered out when he returned. We are off to Miami for a Dr. appt tomorrow. I don’t wanna go but go I must.
Nothing much else to report here. I am returning to irk on Firday to start the EOM work. Our fabulous neighbors are cooking dinner for us tonight. I will have to figure out a way to repay their hospitality.
It’s cold and windy here. What started as a nice day went bad pretty quickly.
Multiple packages from da jungle came today, including some new dog treats. I swear the dogs know when there is something in the box for them. I ran out of their favorite treat, chicken jerky wrapped around a rawhide chewy. That didn’t come today but the dogs are happy with what did come.
Glad you speak puppy FlyBoy.
I feel in need of a nap, but I have to log in to irk at 6, so not much sense in taking one now. Besides, I have a mess of stuff to put away, a case of TP, a case of paper towels, a mess of dog treats, and some other stuff.
I need to do some laundry, but that can wait until tomorrow.
Well, I have a bedroom set now, instead of just box springs and mattress. Heavy stuff too, the Dresser is 205 lbs and the nightstand is 84lbs, so I’m not likely to be moving too much stuff around in the future. Guys did an excellent job on the moving and assembly. Hope Firday’s planned movement goes as well.
Just a small bit of wood floor remains to come up, I think they’ll get it done in the next 1/2 hour or so and start putting the floor down tomorrow.
flytrap, I guess you wouldn’t believe clean living and good moral character as to why I can afford it? Truth be told, I’ve been single all my life (not planned that way, life just happened), had a better than average paying job for 34 years, and did some extra savings to supplement my already generous Government pension, so I am making as much (if not a bit more) than I did when I was working. Even so, this will make a hole in the budget that makes me glad I only do this once every 20 years (next time will be at 86).
Butters, y’all think you could send those neighbors up north? I’ve got some real good ones on one side of me, but the others are virtual strangers.
Becks, hope you get feeling better. A Grandkid experience may perk you right up.
swampy, tomorrow will tell if the Grand Plan needs amending or not. Still, it goes OK.
Didn’t you get the word? **MetalMouse **took a side gig as a gigolo, and he’s built quite a clientele. He cleans up real good!
The insulating is done. Then SIL got a call asking why he was late for work - he thought he was off today! So he missed supper. Speaking of which, thisis a really good soup! I didn’t have any half-and-half, but whole milk worked just fine. We served it with sour cream and shredded cheese. Very yum!
I also finished the afghan, so I need to pull out some more yarn and start another. Onward!
sari, yay for your son getting to campus. As far as parallel parking goes, while it’s not my favorite, I can do it. Of course, I drive a smaller vehicle than you do.
doggio, do you have access to a grill and paper plates? That could resolve the food problem without having to raid Gordie’s stash.
shady, I always compared you to archy from the archy and mehitibel books (yeah, I know, a cucaracha, but he always wrote in lower case too).
{{{wet one}}} There are times when the loss of those who have gone on, both human and animal, hits me too.
Moooooooom, when you don’t get Roxy out of the house to something like storytime or the museum, does she get the zoomies like Nelson does when he’s gone too long between dog park visits?
That was sweet of you to take time out to accommodate an overwhelmed pupper Johnny.
I had a lousy night’s sleep last night. I didn’t get to sleep until sometime around midnight and got up a couple of times because I was restless. I think Nelson noticed, as he finally moved from his usual spot between my knee and foot and came to curl up under my arm with his head on my chest. I had weird dreams, one of which I remembered. In it, I had been rear ended badly enough to total my car. Heavens, I need another accident like I need another hole in my head.
I survived Test Day! Thanks for the kind thoughts! It was a smorgasbord of all the eye tests I’ve ever hated, including the one with electrodes in huge, thick lens-thingies that go on your eye and the one where they inject dye in the arm and watch it go through the retinal vessels. And the visual field test, extended version, which for some reason makes me nervous, so I mess up. But everyone was really nice. I met with the genetics counselor and said it can’t be genetic because I have no blind ancestors. She said most of her patients are like that, and that sometimes it’s a brand-new mutation and sometimes it’s a recessive gene that takes both parents to pass on to only one of the kids. Still, can’t believe it’s true of me.
Tomorrow I get a dilated exam and a consultation with the eye doc. Then I get to go home!
Becks, I sure hope you’re feeling up to grandparent day tomorrow. Sounds like a cheerer-upper. I can see why you’d cry during the overheard conversation. I’m the same way. I think it has to do with stuff about ourselves we don’t let ourselves feel; compassion brings it home when it’s someone else, though. Not sure that makes sense. Maybe they dilated my brain.
Flyboy, glad you speak dog, but we want doggy details! What kind of puppy? What color?
MetalMouse, when is everything supposed to be done and in place? Surely by the end of the week, right? I’m living vicariously. I love that new furnishings feeling, but like you, I don’t get it very often.
Sa****hi, do you let the dogs claw open the boxes when the treats come?
Swampy, I’m craving chili dogs now. Hope they were yum!
Butters, hope the trip is smooth and the appointment goes well.
I is officially on a diet now. For some reason, I is nauseous & have no desire to eat anything…
:o
Something weird happened with the terlet earlier. I flushed but the flap must not have sealed properly. From the other room I heard water trickling. I walked in, the bowl was overflowing & I could tell from the sound that the tank was still filling. First thing I did was wiggle the tank handle to get the flap to close. For some reason it decided that that was the point that there was enough water weight in the bowl that it all went down. Of course the damage was already done; not too bad but bad enough that the floor is now really clean.
Make of this what you will. My computer screen went dark, like it does when the screensaver is going to come on, so I hit a few random keys to stop it, and suddenly I see that Mail (which I hate and never use) is open, and there’s a blank email to “huboy70”. I do not know a huboy70. I have never known a huboy70. I do not want to know a huboy70. What *is *a huboy70?
Maybe I have a secret life even I don’t know about.
Damn, I just found out something that I hope has a happy ending.
Within the last month our cathedral just installed a new dean, after a loooong search. Turns out he was already here, the admin assistant to the bishop, so we all know him and his family.
We all got an email from him today that he’s been diagnosed with a rather rare form of leukemia, called “hairy cell leukemia.” It’s early days, and he says it’s manageable, but that he will need some chemo, and may get tired easily, or have to wear a mask if he’s in a meeting with, say, the vestry.
Nellie, if things work out as planned, I should have the new flooring and 90% of my new furnishings in place by Friday night. Will still have to get some of the stuff I kept (including 12 8’ tall oak bookcases) from the garage to the house and there will be bits and pieces (chest of drawers and ottoman) that’ll deliver later and a couple of minor things (new ceiling fans, maybe a bigger monitor for the computer, dinette table for the breakfast nook), but those can be bought over the months and within the usual credit card budget. Biggest thing will be putting things back; I hope to get everything unpacked and distributed by the end of February.
And congrats on making it through test day! Baker, sounds like they caught it early and leukemia is much more treatable these days. Best wishes to the dean.
OK, it’s still early but I’m going to enjoy my new bed. Take care.
Oh, and I forget to mention this. While I was sitting in the waiting area between tests, two prison guards brought in a prisoner. He was all decked out in a mustard-colored jumpsuit, and his wrists and ankles were cuffed and chained, so he did that rapid shuffle-walk. He was very thin, very young, and looked happy (to be out, I’m guessing). He wore glasses but didn’t seem to be in any pain.
Now I’m wondering what crime he committed. Also, what was wrong with his eyes? He was only in an exam room for maybe 3 minutes. I’m sure they were trying to get him out ASAP, but still…that was fast.
Up and at em. Not looking forward to the drive but the appts are usually quick. This will be an all day affair. I just hope we get a plan of action to get the old ticker ticking correctly. That poison medicine really set us back.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of 57 with rain all day and into tonight. Good day to be inside and dry. No plans for the day at all. We shall be chill. In a little while I shall get beast stew goin’ in the slow cooker. That and cornbread shall comprise tonight’s and probably tomorrow night’s sup.
Butters hope all goes well for hubby at the doc.
CupCakes prayers ascendin’ for the Dean. Glad the cancer was caught early and that he seems to be in good spirits.
FlyBoy Good for you for makin’ the puppeh happy. He’s a lil cutie!
Nellie glad the day went relatively well. Here’s hopin’ today is as well.
MetalMouse after my last go round with remodelin’, I swore that da cave will stay this way 'til I’m toted out either dead or to the home.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
**Spidey **- we had a bit of toilet weirdness this morning, but not as bad as yours. After a flush, it ran and ran and ran - luckily, I was still in the bedroom and noticed how long it was taking, and a quick jiggle reseated the flap. Just glad it didn’t happen as I was rushing to go somewhere - that’s a lot of wasted water!
We’ll be doing, sorta, some remodeling after the kids move out. The carpet and most of the paint is 15 years old, the dining room set is close to 25 years old, and the living room furniture is of various ages and all looking sad. We’re giving the dining room set and anything else they want to the kids. Then I’ll paint, and we’ll have the carpet replaced. That way I don’t have to worry about drop cloths! But I figure that’s at least 2 years away, unless we fall into a chunk of cash and can buy a place where they can live. What’s PowerBall up to now??
**Red **- Roxy gets the zoomies and the cliimbies and the throwies and various other moods when she’s bored. The mini-tramp I bought her for Christmas will wear her out for a little while. And I can rassle the vinegar out of her sometimes, tho that wears me out, too! She’s not a bratty kid - she’s just a toddler figuring out what she can get away with. It’s an adventure!
I just saw that there’s a Wiggle-Giggle Storytime at the library today - essentially a playgroup for toddlers. Guess where we’re going! So, the plan is made.
