The Mini Cooper owners are no longer waving at each other and flashing their lights at each other. It is so disappointing.
I am still excited about my Mini, even though I’ve had it just short of two years. Sometimes I open the door to the garage and look at it again and say to myself, “I can’t believe it’s mine!”
My mom just got one last Saturday. Red with black top… I actually felt cooler just being close to the thing. I love the whole dashboard and whatnot layout. The windows and lock switches were particularly cool. I’d steal it, but my mom got an automatic since she doesn’t know how to drive stick. Minis are becoming more and more common, but they’re still relatively rare.
Are you certain that they can see you flash ?
After all, the light from the car’s headlights may keep them from seeing your breasts and…what? Not a Mardi Gras thread?
I rode in one once in London many years ago and I still have the nervous tic.
The driver was a madwoman, we were zipping between huge trucks (lorries) and of course every time she turned left onto the left lane I would scream girly screams and well…let’s just say I admire you all for having the courage to go out in traffic in one of those things!
I test drove one last Friday. I do believe I’ll own one someday, but not soon. I’ve got a PT Cruiser that opened me up to small cars and while I love it, it’s not ‘athletic’ enough. The Family has the Cruiser, an Avalanche, Two Corvettes with more than 400 hp a piece, and twin two year old boys.
The reality is this: The kids would fit in their car seats for another year or so, then the thing would be too small to be practical.
I’ve driven RX-7’s, Vettes, Miatas, etc. and am in deep deep Smit over the Cooper. But it’s another in a long list of things I’ve had to give up for the kids.
If course if they’re like their dad, the Boys will be 6’5" or taller, at which point we’ll buy a mini as a project car. I figgure they won’t be able to ‘get busy’ in it, and when they’re not driving it, we can hang it on the wall in the garage.
Actually, I test drove TWO. A loaded Cooper S and a base model. Both were a HOOT and a half. I actually wouldn’t see the base cooper as being deficient in power.
