The MMP That Drives Like an Idiot

Wow! That tile is eye-catching, McUne. Nice colors.

I don’t watch AI either, but the 80-something organist at my old church did. We had to end choir practice on time so she could get home to watch. It was cute.

We got some venison & wild rice brats from one of KeithT’s coworkers so we’re going to have them for dinner. Should be interesting. I’m looking forward to trying them.

That tile is from the 70’s or there-abouts like everything else in the house and it’s LONG gone. I’m very happy about that.

McUne, you’ll probably flog me with a wet cod, but I kinda like the old tiles. Then again, I have a more-than-passing obsession with all things retro 70’s.

As evidenced by my favourite comfy chair (cite).

Hope your bathroom remodel saga is over soon. I bet that first shower once they’re done will feel like manna from heaven.

Photos like these make me so glad that all the remodelling was done by the last owner in our house. Sure, he cut a few corners here and there (the tiles are laid a bit wonky and he did a sloppy caulking job on the tub), but it would’ve cost a fortune for us to buy a fixer-upper and then hire someone to do everything properly for us.

You can like them all you want, but they aren’t coming back in this house. That is a cool chair!

I’m guessing it will be over by Saturday. I’m already anticipating that first shower…

I can’t wait for it to be done with. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was planned, but it wasn’t…

Pretty kitty!!

Yes, yes she is.

Though she’s not quite as pretty when she’s sitting on my chest at 5am, swishing her tail in my face and complaining loudly that I Never Feed Her.

(or when she’s clawing my beloved Ugly 70s Chair into shreds… the white throw is actually a strategically placed decoy meant to hide a disemboweled arm rest)

McUne, first reaction I had to the first picture was “cool tiles”. Although I probably would have gone with a solid color, with randomly placed patterned ones.

Mahna Mahna, Nice kitty!

I hope everything will be well for you, Pie!

You, too Rosie

I talked with L for a long time this morning, and we agreed to slow down just a bit. We were about to each go down the rebound relationship road, her from a recent breakup with her last girlfriend, and me from losing Hubby[sup]TM[/sup]. We already feel too much for each other to take our pain out on each other that way, so, friends first, physical stuff second. Hopefully, we won’t have a long time to wait, cause damn is she sexy!

Hope you get your shower back soon, McUne!

Mahna, your photos look really nice! Is it a hobby of yours?

Oof, it’s been a crazy busy day!

Yay, boo, hugs, **Haze **-- great picture, second removing the background with photoshop :); **Rigs **-- you’re charging now? (d&r); Flower yay for new passion! :); M&M – cute cat; {{{Pie}}}; Hi Ivory! Just because…

Vroooooommmmm!

MCUNE that’s a lovely planter in your yard. Whatcha gonna plant in it?

Hi Y’all I’m home! My tummy feels a little wonky so I left work. I’m sippin’ on ginger ale which seems to be helpin’ a lot. Hopefully it’s just a little upset tummy and not the beginnings of a major teh sick. I can’t have teh sick. I have a lot of stuff to do at work plus I gotta cook for St. Patrick’s dindin on Saturday. I shall not have teh sick. You hear that teh sick! :dubious:

Time for some more ginger ale.

Later Y’all!

**McUne ** - how old is your house? That outlet in the shower wall was pretty scary! Can’t wait to see the “after” pics!

We’ve got a 70s vintage bathroom to redo - thankfully we do have another to use in the interim. In fact, the bath to be redone is the one the kids will use when they move in. They’ll be here in less than 2 months. We should probably get on it, ya think?

Supper was yum! All of the corned beef is gone (I only bought a small piece) but we’ve got a bunch of veggies left. They’ll be good with whatever I make tomorrow.

And I’m finally caught up. Whew!

Lots of hugs and warm thoughts for CutiePie.

One day closer to Firday … tahred tonight, though, because I did grocery shopping after work. Was able to get my corned beef brisket, so woo hoo! I have more to say but now I can’t remember it … D’oh! Ah well, I’ll probably remember it later, during dinner. Now next weekend I gotta see if I can pick up a little lamb. And not Mary’s little lamb.

You folks just had to mention plumbing problems, didn’t you? This afternoon the plastic connector between the toilet handle and the flap broke right up by the handle. I assume Papa Tigs is able to replace it – normally we’d ask our landlord to do it since, hey, it’s his house, but since he’s in Iraq for a year, that’s somewhat impractical – but in any case it’s a pain in the arse having to take the tank lid off and yank the thing manually to flush. Stoopid toilet.

Yay for bathroom electrical up to code, McUne! I hope the remodel proceeds as smoothly as possible. <knocks wood>

Morgan looks like a rounder version of Emily. I assume she has the personality to match. She obviously has Emily’s trick of sitting on your chest and ensuring you wake up to a mouthful of cat hair down pat.

Back to the next round of congressional [del]drivel[/del] valuable and important testimony <insert pukey smiley here>. I swear, if they didn’t pay the Big Bucks for this crap, they’d never talk me into it. Or in this case, send it to me without getting my approval first.

[singing] tar-ra had a little lamb…

Mooom, the house was originally built in the 1890’s and it was Jason’s grandparents before he bought it from them. (I wasn’t in the picture yet.) They lived in the house basically their entire life. Once they were older, they didn’t do much remodeling. Neither did my husband, at least before he met me.

Originially it was just the lower level, and then they added on the the upstairs (2 bedrooms) sometime, I’m not sure when exactly. But we are slowly and surely doing remodeling and bringing the house up to code.

Since the house is so old, it’s small (under 1,000 square feet), but it has beautiful hardwood floors in the living room! They do need to be refinished, but they are beautiful!

Next year we are doing a kitchen remodel…that will be nice when it’s all done. I will actually have cabinet space. YAY!

Thanks for the compliment on my photos, Haze. I’m all blushy-like. It’s one of my many hobbies, though I have to admit that I’ve been really lazy about it lately. I think it’s time for me to take another trip soon, because going somewhere new is usually the kick in the pants I need to start snapping photos again.

MamaTigs, I assume that Emily is a big whiny sookypants? If so, then yes.

McUne, you are my hero. A bathroom remodel AND a kitchen remodel in the space of a year? I’d be a basket case.

Home now. Going to make myself some chicken soup with rice and chickpeas. My tummy is still angry at me over that fruity martini from last night.

Thank Og–while they are pretty tiles, they are a bit overwhelming. They’d look nicer (IMO) as an accent.
I am going out to dinner in 20 minutes. yay!

Also, I put out a plea for help in MPSIMS–if any of you know someone or are that someone or similar, please PM me. Ta.

Rigs, you’re cute and all, but are you sure you’d want to work for them? I sure wouldn’t be a customer, because for $5000, I doubt I’d get the best bang for my buck.

<ducks and runs>

Bad Bobbio!

Hugs for Pie, of course.

I’m starting to think we need a weekly update on beebs’s map to tell us Nava’s location.

Yay for DH’s passed exam!

They do always get you with the cooing, don’t they, LiLi? My nephew was the cutest little baby. (OK, he’s never been really little, but you know what I mean.) It was so calming to hold him when he was getting sleepy. He’s still more affectionate than my niece, but he’s also rather tornado-like. Except when attached to his DS or watching a movie or video.

Is that the kind of outfit they’d expect a teacher to wear to work, Haze? If, so then I think it’s a nice picture, although they might be put off by background.

Pictures are a standard part of German resumes (and probably in many countries besides Germany and Korea). Faraway Best Friend used to teach business English and had to teach her students how to write resumes for U.S. companies. It was always hard for her students to understand that you’d NEVER expect a picture in the States.

Wow, all that plumbing and remodeling! I grew up in a house that was build in 1920 or so; the slats looked very similar to your house, McUne. And probably to the ones in this house (which is vintage 1929, IIRC).

I love card games and board games. I keep thinking I should find someone nearby to play with. But I’m not sure I could fit another extracurricular activity in right now.

I really want to remodel both my bathroom and kitchen. Also want to pull up the carpeting and put in hardwood on top of the existing hardwood (there’s no subfloor, so I think I need a layer over the slats). I need to have a bit of re-wiring done, too. It won’t be happening this year, I don’t think; no time and not enough $$$$. I might do a bit of painting this spring and summer, though; maybe even the exterior (I’m not fond of the color). If I can get an electrician friend to do it, I might get the re-wiring done, too.

Dinner tonight was gingered carrots and little beef tacos (thank you Trader Joe’s on both counts). Seems like I should have something else, but I’m not sure what…

Off to clean out the fridge (tomorrow is trash day).

Hugs.

GT

Since I just know everyone is so worried about my icky tummy, I thought I should report in with the latest. The ginger ale and two pieces of dry toast seem to have helped. Tummy no longer feels all icky. Rejoice!
