The moment all you MADs have been waiting for... Gettysdope II!

I think someone (Paul? Robin?) said they were going to be there around 11 AM to set up, and anyone could sort of drift in anytime they wanted after that. I imagine duskish would be the end point.

Central PA Dopefest directions

From Phila:
PA turnpike westbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit (was I-17, now I-236), take US-15 south. Take ramp right onto York Street US-30. Follow US-30 into the center of town to a circle. Go ½ way around and follow Chambersburg Street (road name changed at the circle) for two blocks to Franklin Street and turn left. Proceed three blocks south, Franklin Street becomes Long Lane at Breckenridge Street. The Borough Park is on your right. First entry off of Long Lane, park near the brick administration building, and our pavilion is to your right, behind playground equipment.

From Pittsburgh:
PA turnpike eastbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit. After that, follow above.

From Washington:
I-495 inner loop to I-270 towards Frederick, MD. Follow US-15 north, into PA. Take the Taneytown Road SR-134 exit, and follow it into the borough. Cross Steinwehr Avenue Business US-15 and the road name changes to Washington Street. Pass Gettysburg Hospital on your left, and turn left on Lincoln Lane. Lincoln Lane dead ends at Long Lane, and you will be facing the park. See above for pavilion and parking detail.

From Baltimore:
I-795 Northwest expressway to MD-30/MD-140. Take MD-140 into Westminster, and turn right onto MD-97. Follow MD-97 into PA, cross US-15, local road name is now Baltimore Pike. Baltimore Pike merges with Steinwehr Avenue and becomes Baltimore Street. Proceed north and turn left on South Street. One block west, South Street becomes Lincoln Lane. Continue and Lincoln Lane dead ends at Long Lane, and you will be facing the park. See above for pavilion and parking detail.
Notice to all who may look for the blue van with lightbar-it is now pining for the fjords. A white van has replaced it and no lightbar as yet, because I’m still on the Maryland 60 day temp tags.

My personal plan is to arrive ~ 1000. Folk can arrive whenever it suits them. They roll up the park at dusk. Better jump on anything regarding motels-you may have to go to Hanover or another nearby town because the touristas have likely overtaken Gburg by now.

Any Dopers wanna carpool from Pittsburgh? Yes, really.

If you put Lincoln Lane, Gettysburg PA into google maps, you got it. If you switch over to satelite photo, the green part is the park. You can’t see the “lake”.

Tris

I think Siege already has a carful, but catsix indicated she’s coming, and perhaps Guinistasia and other Burgher Dopers can be persuaded to come along. Yinz are all welcome.

Maybe, really, but aren’t you like from DEE-troit? but then you did say wanna - very Pittburghesesque (is that a word…is now)
Are you implying that you’re coming from Detroit. If so, you are welcome to stay a my house! (for a fee of course. The fee is you must pet my dog and tell him what a good boy he is. And you must wash the dishes in the morning. Oh, and water the garden. Oh yeah, and wash the car for the trip. Do you think I’m kidding ?

 )

Any Pittsburgher’s up for doing a one day trip, ie coming back that evening? I am so up for anything but have a preference for coming home that evening.

I’ll be drivin out in the lambourgreenie.

HIP CHECK BUMP!

(Well, the strike IS over.)

I’m just confirming–we are still on for July 23, right?

We are indeed on for July 23.

Good news. I did not have surgery today after all and I’ve actually been cleared to stop depending on crutches and put some weight on my leg. I’ll be there without crutches and with brownies. HJay may not be able to make it, but the gentleman and I are still coming. Oh, and Scuba Ben, I may be up for that tango after all, depending on what the physical therapist says.

I may also throw in a batch of sausage rolls.

FOOD FIGHT!!!

That is just no fair. You’re bringing kimchee! That’s chemical warfare.

From tomorrow afternoon through next Tuesday night, I’ll be offline and out of town on business, so if you’re asking questions or requesting info, it’s not that I’m ignoring you, I just amn’t reading your queries. Once I get back home, feed Sam and the Kittenator, I’ll get to it.

What have you got to worry about? The picnic grounds are open-air. I’m going to be sharing a vehicle with that kimchee for two hours. YIKES!

How much do gas masks cost? Should I check into buying in bulk?

You can borrow mine if you pay the shipping.

You’ll be fine. Put it up on the luggage rack. Unfortunately, a stray bird may hit it and it would break, thereby eating through the roof of the van.

Being too lazy to read the entire thread for a single question - is this a pet-friendly event? There’s a slight chance that we may attend, but I’d have to make arrangements for doffie care if we do, unless we can bring her along.

I’m making no promises or predictions, but when I mentioned it to my sweetie, he sounded almost interested. For someone who usually doesn’t get into Fests, I thought that had potential. So maybe…

Yay! FCM and Cap’n Steve might come? Yay! (Guess we done good in Baltimore, eh?)

AFAIK, well-behaved dogs would be okay – it’s a municipal park. I’m totally guessing, though – hopefully MsRobyn will see this before dances gets back next week and can answer.

Wow! A twist of fate has made it possible for me to attend. I am actually driving up to G’burg next Saturday to meet my MIL and she’s taking my two oldest kids for the weekend. Can I come?
