The moment all you MADs have been waiting for... Gettysdope II!

Absolutely! The more the merrier!

Hey, some stupid low-life Gingy-colored tramp pointed me toward this thread. It looks as though I can attend, if that’s aiight…anything in particular I can bring?

AFAIK, dogs are okay, as long as they’re leashed. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t be.

Robin

Happy Birthday, you filthy -uh. Animal.

Yay! More recruits!

As for what to bring: food or beverages to share. It’s looking as though there may be 50 or more people there, so whatever you want to bring is fine – even if someone is already bringing it, more is good. Bring hot dogs and buns if you don’t want to cook. (Is anyone bringing mustard, relish, etc.?)

Also – everyone – remember the book exchange! If you’ve got a book or three you’re ready to release back into the pool of potential readers, bring them along. (And someone remind me to bring some puzzle magazines, okay?)

Hey, I can bring mustard, ketchup and relish if nobody else is.

I’m going through all my old required-reading books to see which ones I’m willing to part with. Shame Olentzero isn’t coming; two of them are right up his alley. I’ve also got a literature anthology I desperately want to get rid of, because it’s just eeeveeel.

Robin

I’m still trying to get actual answers from the two friends who are being coy about their possible attendance – it’s time to figure out who all is driving out from Philly and who can give rides. I know either Scuba_Ben or I will be driving, if not both of us, and we can arrange to give rides to Cleophus and Doc Cathode, plus other Philly denizens as needed.

Bueller? Anyone?

I plan on attending. I will likely be getting a ride with Verrain and True Pisces.

I shall bring Turkish delight and other desserts from the Russian grocery in my neighborhood. I don’t remember if I brought halvah last year or if anybody liked it. I hope to get another container of the good brand of rugalach (kind of a cross between a tiny croissant and a cookie. They are also called shnecken). I’d like to bring a bunch “bar cheese” (individually packaged bites of cheesecake with Cyrillic labels and no crust) but don’t know how they’ll hold up in the cooler or how much room we’ll have.

I’ll also be bringing a few boxes of magic tricks. The little kids will be entertained by these. The big kids will be entertained when they demonstrate that they can do them better than I can, and I collapse into a sobbing mess and tell the heart breaking tale of the day I was fired from the circus. (Then, :sob: they took a really big pair of scissors, and they :moan: cut the front off my big floppy clown shoes! :wail: Then, they were just regular shoes!)

I’d like to bring some balloons filled with hydrogen (you can’t tell them apart from helium filled until you set them on fire. NOTE- This a very safe activity I first saw on Mr Wizard. The fire is of extremely brief duration- blink and you’ll miss it. It produces no loud sound other than a bizarre barking noise. The fire risk is further reduced by the fact that burning hydrogen in atmosphere creates water.). But, odds are that something will go wrong and prevent my bringing them.

So, are there going to be nametags? I’ve never, um, actually been to a dopefest before.

HJay has had to cancel, so it will just be me and the gentleman. Oh, and the alien device which has attached itself to my leg. I’m cleared for some walking etc., although I’m dependent on the gentleman to do the driving.

See you Saturday!
CJ

I plan on adding nametags to my load of paper goods.(I was in your boat last year. Nametags are a good thing.)

Yes, we can do nametags – is someone bringing some?

Turns out neither of my favorite Doper Wannabes is gonna come, so it’s just me. OTOH, I’m pretty sure I’ve talked Blue Kangaroo into joining us.

You have, you have. As long as GingerOfTheNorth and WeirdDave are still willing to give me a ride up.

Personally, I think I’ll bring a dessert type item, as I firmly believe you can never have too much dessert.

Sure, if you don’t mind telling Boris to triple-wrap, we’d be glad to drive you up

We’ll also have Hama with us. She smells a bit, so bring a mask.

I’m all set, except for making the tater salad, and buying the Kimchi. Unfortunately, I fried the dash electronics on my car, and my passengers and I will have to rely on either conversation, or an add on radio.

So, water, ice, kimche, and potato salad.

Tris

I would like to be there this time, but my health and wallet won’t permit it.

Not that I’ll be missed, but just in case someone might wonder.

Could you just send the chicken, then?

runs

The chicken and your lovely wife. You, otoh … :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry you can’t make it – hope to see you next year.

As Doc_Cathode said, Verrain and I will be driving the carpool for him, as well as for Cleophus. I’m still not 100% sure what we’ll be bringing - I need to take a look at what is on sale at our local grocery store since money is a bit tighter with the move. But I’m hoping to get there in the next day or so and then I’ll be able to let y’all know what to expect.

I’d bring books for the book swap, but I have about 7 large boxes that we’re trying to get rid of and I think that would be a bit much. I may try to pull a few out, aside from the ones that weirddave as already claimed.

Can’t wait to see you all.
