The moment all you MADs have been waiting for... Gettysdope II!

Outstanding! You’re among the many who’ve not graced my eye-bones since last year. A quick hint-rooms go early during the tourist times in G-Burg, so book ASAP. If you or anyone else has questions about motels, proximity to the GDope location, and so forth, email me. As per last year, directions will appear in the thread when we get closer, and I’ll start a recap post of who is bringing what at the top of each page to spare endless reading.

I’ll be coming, perhaps with a companion or two. (My friend M is still being coy about pinning down a date two months in the future. Go figure.) I’ll bring carrot cake, which (for reasons I don’t now recall) I didn’t bring last year.

I think I can make it. It’ll be my first Gettysdope, too. I’ll have to figure out what to bring for food, though.

By then I should be able to drive on my own. (Although I’m sure that 'punha, Tris, and Anita have enjoyed driving me around)

July 23rd- smack dab in the middle of summer school, but I’ll have Sunday to recover, so pending approval from the parental units, I guess that’s good.

August 16th- what I would prefer, but I see that’s rapidly dying, so I’ll just leave it at that.

So it turns out that July 23 is the weekend nearest my mom’s birthday–a fact I should’ve been aware of when I said it was great. I’m going to have to hold off on committing or canceling for the moment.

C’mon. Bring your Mom. It will be a birthday party she’ll never forget.

OK kids, we’re past Memorial Day, so it’s time to fill in the blanks. This is the list generated from a thread scan-offer updates and additions as required. A +x after your name helps us have a handle on total count, and so folks can adjust quantities of what they’d like to bring. Those dopers who seemed hesitant about attendance weren’t listed-as always, offer a correction if I’ve messed up.

For those who need directions, worry not. The directions page from last year will be posted when we draw closer to the event, and for anyone who would like to purchase something nearby, there are two markets available-one a few blocks, and another a few miles away.

My cell phone number will be provided to anyone who emails to request same: danceswithcats@att.net

Anyone who plans on staying over should make haste to book a room. Email the above addy if you’d like help with that-distance from event, and other good stuff.

Hubby doesn’t know it yet, but we’re in!

Not only will I bring a change of clothes for the little one, I’ll bring some water if it’s a dry month! She (mudsplasher) and I were just talking about GettysDope last weekend, and the conversation went like this:
Me: Do you remember going to Gettysburg last year?
Mudsplasher: I remember that! I was just a little baby, and I kept playing in that muddy lake!
Me: Right.

As soon as she hears the word “Gettysburg”, I’m sure she’ll be in! We’ll also be bringing the 14-year-old along.

I think I’ll bring cole slaw.

I noted in the wrap-up thread from last year that we wanted to bring plastic wrap for leftovers and a broom for cleanup.

Oh lord. You’ve got love the perspective of a child. A lake, indeed. What a cutie!

Since I’m close, tossing a broom in the van is easy enough, along with trash bags for recyclables-simpler than asking folks who travel a distance to schlep stuff. Good reminder-thanks.

This year, we’ll be happy to bring Glad containers, plastic wrap and foil. We ended up with a LOT of leftover cheese, so this seems like a good idea.

I wasn’t at the last Gettysdope, so I have to ask: are there cooking facilities? Like, oh, grills of some sort?

'cause I’m leaning to bringing an as yet to be determined meat that would need grilling, since so far I don’t see meat on the menu, and I likes it, yes I does.

I do believe they had grills near the pavilions. I don’t THINK Dave and Gingy brought their own, and Dave definitely cooked chicken*. (GOOD chicken! Mmmm!)
*Provided by steelerphan, now The Mad Hermit

There are grilling facilities adjacent to the pavilions, and one must supply their own charcoal, and other accompaniments d’ fuego. I also bring my propane grille so folks are free to use that. There are also electrical receptacles and much cordage for anyone who would like to bring a crock pot or other plug in type stuff.

Actually, it will be me, plus HJay, plus that gentleman I’ve been seeing, the same two guys I brought last year. I’ll also bring along assorted games.

CJ

My daughter will be glad for something besides Fluxx. She tried and tried, and just couldn’t get the hang of it! Of course, I’m talking about the daughter that’s too old to play in the mud.

I’m in. This year I’ll make it, come hell or high water (or a really bad bout of the ickies like I had last year). Be forewarned.

I’ll bring something full of sugar and maybe chocolatey as well.

So, are we settled on the July 23rd date?

I’ll be there. Is someone bringing a stereo? I promised Seige a tango.

As for food… how did you all like the gazpacho soup from last year?

I’m still planning on attending. My wife will join me, but I don’t know about the kids. I’ll bring a killer fresh fruit salad and some Tapas (don’t know which type yet).
July 23, right?
