The Muslim Guy Appreciation Thread

In his now legendary thread, “Ask The Muslim Guy”, this treasure among participants here at the boards signs up for a monumental task. Namely, clarifying about the Islamic faith, which is quite wrongly being perceived as America’s new enemy. Most here know that this is not the case, but an alarming portion of American people are willing to conflate sheer criminality with an entire faith and creed.

So heroic an effort as this cannot go unappreciated. Therefore I’d like to thank you personally, Muslim Guy, for doing your level best to spread some enlightenment and wisdom on this important topic. A tip of the hat goes to Tamerlane and the other scholarly folk who’ve lent a hand. Too many Americans are completely ignorant of what the Moslem faith represents. They have too easily lapsed into blind bigoted hatred while seeking a more tangible enemy to focus their rage upon. Making a direct effort to prevent that is a most worthy deed and crys out to be answered with genuine gratitude. This is the reason for starting this thread so again, thanks, Muslim Guy.

A Friend,

Chris

Ditto. That was a wonderful thread, and I’m glad to see Muslim Guy is posting elsewhere. I’m looking forward to sharing the board with you, MG!

Yes indeed. Thank you so much for sharing your time, education and perspective with us.

Yes, thank you so much for sharing your perspective with us, and I look forward to reading more things that you post too. I hope you’ve broken the ice so that more Muslims and folks from other faiths and cultural perspectives will de-lurk. :smiley: This message board really needs the richness of their different experiences.

I learned more in that thread than any other.

Thx MG.

:round of applause to the Muslim Guy, and the others who joined in:

An exceptional, timely and helpful thread. Nice job!

Nice idea, Zenster!

Yep, he’s really put in some quality work. Hours and hours of it. Same for Tamerlane
Thanks for all your efforts!

::ahem::

YAAAAAAY!

thank you.

89 posts, and he’s already done more to fight ignorance than I could ever hope to do in 20,000 posts. It’s proof that “newbie” is a state of mind, not a number.

Thank you, Muslim Guy.

Thanks for what is quite possibly the best thread these boards have ever seen.

Timely, appropriate, and healing. Very well done, sir!

i’ve been printing and saving. kudos to the muslim guy.

Another pair of hands joining the standing ovation.

Muslim Guy was doing a very brave thing when he started the Ask the Muslim Guy! threads. He was risking getting flamed from every direction yet still did it. Great job, Muslim Guy! ::claps until hands fall off::

Aw, shucks, guys …

<wiping a tear>
You’re too nice. Thanks, Zenster, Tamerlane, and everybody. Dopers rock!

{{{{{cyberhugs all around}}}}}

Heard somebody wise once say that you cannot educate without communicating.

Muslim Guy, you did BOTH exceptionally well.

GREAT JOB!

Ditto.

MG’s thread was one of only three threads I’ve ever printed in entirety and added to my Internet Reference Materials file.

Thanks for your efforts, sir. Of course now I have about a hundred historical references to look up…

**Muslim Guy ** and Tamerlane I just want you two (and others) to know that your single handed efforts to help educate us dopers on the wonders of Islam have made me appear OH-SO-MUCHO SMARTER in the eyes of my brain dead, mouth breathing, knuckle draggin’ lets-nuke-them-mooslim associates. They think I know everything about Islam now. [sub]Ain’t that a kick? [/sub]

I hereby award you both this bowling trophy covered in tin foil in appreciation for your find works and [new word alert) humanitarianisticism that you both represent.

Yes, thanks, MG. A wonderful effort.

This is why this message board rules the world. This thread is making me feel pretty good. It’s nice to see that people are willing to show their support and gratitude to others who’ve contributed to this board.

Thank you, MG, for your very informative thread. Though I don’t think I posted in it, I read it with great interest, and learned a great deal about your faith. I’ve even been able to use some of my newly acquired knowledge in a non-SDMB argument.

Again, thank you.
