The n00bing of the MMP -- a tale of hubris and temerity

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 76 for the day and sunny. Nice! This also means start the day off with a light jacket which I then need to remember not to leave said jacket at irk which I am prone towards doin’. This means to remember around N.O.L.time to put said jacket in the vehicle cause I won’t need to wear said jacket anymore if’n I’m outside. Actually by around nine o’ clock I won’t need said jacket.

BooFae appropriate/inappropriate appendages shall be crossed re the interview.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, purtification for irk must commence. At least today is my Firday.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Up and sorta awake. **FCD **got up and tended to Higgs so’s I could sleep in a bit, but Taz jumping on the door to get it soon ruined that fantasy. Instead, I got up and let my sweetie go back to bed. I crashed early last night and I’m pretty well rested. He stayed up later, so I’m sure he’s tired.

In theory, ShedGuy will show up today. He durn well better. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous, and we’ve prepped the area. He’s also cashed the deposit check, which makes it tougher to cancel him, so let’s all just cross our fingers that he does today what he said he’d do last week, and we’ll be done with it.

Tomorrow will be paint-buying day. From my paint-advice thread, I’ve found out that Sherwin-Williams makes a good exterior latex and they’ve got a 40% off sale starting tomorrow. Plus I was given a link to a $10 coupon, too! YAY! So I should be painting this weekend.

Today, I’ll be doing more stick-wrangling, at least for a few hours. I’ve also got to get another load of laundry on the lines when it gets light outside. Breakfast has been ingested and caffeination is on-going.

Happy Thursday!!

Spud? And Yay for him. I am totes jelly!

Micky D’s supplied breakfast this am, and it was tasty. Another slow day at irk.

Tomorrow we get to go see a show called TAO, its martial arts and drumming and other cool stuff.

Need to remember to call Jynxster Mom to check on her and see how she is doing.

Last night I discovered during the Great iTunes Reorg of 2014 that I have more music than will fit on either of my iDevices. Granted, I don’t listen to most of it, but I want it all available to me for long car rides. So it may be time for a bigger iPod. I would kind of like it all to be on my phone so I don’t have to carry two things (oh, the horror of living in The Future), but eff it. I’ve got most of the good stuff on my phone anyway.

And that’s about the most exciting thing to happen to me in the last 24 hours.

Taters, sounds like the Tot is better at life in general than I am.

Sari, time for some tough love: If you don’t make a decision, you CAN’T MOVE. Was that helpful?

We have achieved Shed Guy!!!

[faints]

::while waving a fan over Sean’s face::

Blurf!

However please note she didn’t *specifically *say she has achieved shed.

Yesterday at work I was exchanging texts with my reporter as she was being driven to the Mayor’s Press Conference where I was already. In the conversation we exchanged our mutual disinterest for the topic at hand (potholes) which as of late has been in the nature of “How many shits do you have? / I don’t give a shit / I have not any shits left to give.” which brought me to remark in the end that “Shits are the currency of attitude.”

Once I let that one fly my reporter decided it was worth sending to some coworkers and even tweeting it.

Fast forward a few hours and a coworker sees me in the station and give me a fist bump: “Great quote dude - I never thought of it that way!”

“Thanks but it seemed kinda obvious: who gives a shit? I don’t give a shit. It implies a numerical value.”

“Oh SHITS, that’s what you said. I thought you said* ‘Shirts are the currency of attitude.’* You know button downs, sports jerseys, wife beaters all make a statement, you know? I thought that was profound.”
So if you hear I don’t give a shirt you’ll know why.

Happy Thorsday!

It looks to be a beautiful day, supposed to get up to 70.
Although the shed guy showing up may cause hell to freeze over and send the temperatures plummeting.

Good luck Sticky and BooFae

Congrats to Tater and Tat-son

I hear you Drae Got to talk to the realrot this am and clarify a few things. I need to check out a few more things and look at the numbers again.

Need to call my mother and ask about her bf. I guess she is staying at the hospital with him.
I need to make a to do list because I am getting behind in things and I don’t need the added stress.
I need to mail in my tax money and my estimated tax money (that hurts), and renew my tags and pick my health care plan, call the college. Sah-son needs to see a doctor as part of his health care coverage, I need to go to the doctor, I have one issue that would be TMI and another is a spot on my leg that is spreading. It doesn’t look like skin cancer pics and the spot has been there for probably over 20 years but now it’s getting bigger and new ones are showing up. We need to go grocery shopping, the bathroom needs to be cleaned, Sah-dog isn’t himself today I hope he isn’t getting sick. Two friends want to meet up for lunch and that is stressing me out because I hate to turn them down but I’m trying to figure out when I can fit it in. Maybe I should combine the lunches. The two friends have met once but they live at opposite ends of the world. I’m dead center but I can’t have anybody over here.

And to think that when I decide to thin out my shirts (I’m a shirtaholic) I really do give a shirt or shirts. Or, as folks like JDD and Partner like to say, “comin’ over and goin’ through the mission barrel.” They once got poed at me because I gave away a bunch of shirts without their gettin’ first crack. Next time that happens I will say, “Well, I don’t give a shirt what you think.”

Yay for shed guy showin’ up MOOOOOOM! Now the big question is, did or is he really movin’ the shed?

Sari we anxiously await your decision. I foresee this could make a good MMP starter.

In other news, sump’n is definitely in the air this mornin’. My sinuses are all achy. ACHOO!!!

Giggity - that’s hilarious! Thanks for the giggles.

Well Swampy I know what is the right choice but I’m not sure I’ll get the mortgage approved if I go with a higher sales price. I have to go FHA and repairs will have to be made. I can get additional funds for the repairs but by going higher on the sales price I may not be able to borrow enough to get all the repairs done.
If I move ahead I may lose the cost of the appraisal and inspection if the mortgage isn’t approved.

I could just withdraw my offer and go with my second choice but looking at it rationally, even though I like that house better, the location isn’t as nice. It will be cheaper even with financing the repairs but in the long run it will only be about $15,000 lower and the second house will never be worth as much as house number one. The other issue I have with house number two is that the price has dropped $30,000 in three months and it’s been sitting at $54,900 for over a week and no investor has snatched it up Then again I estimate the repairs being $25,000, it needs 25 new windows just as a start. If they pay 55000 for the house and 25000 for repairs they won’t make much profit on it.

Of course either way I will be living there so I’m not trying to make a profit, but it would be stupid to ignore potential resale value.

Logically house number one is the way to go and take the risk of losing the appraisal and inspection money. I guess I can get the appraisal done first and if the cost of the repairs is too high I don’t even have to get the inspection done.

Or I can refuse the counter offer and stand on my original offer.

Oh well, decision made, accept the counter offer, move on and see what happens.

and an LOL to 2gig

Sari house buyin’ ain’t for the faint of heart is it? Here’s hopin’ it all works out. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages are crossed.

N.O.L. has been ingested. Ham ‘n cheese sammich. Fried chikin livers, coleslaw and peas ‘n carrots for dindin tonight cause that’s what I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for plus both of us lurve us some fried chikin livers.

Shed movage has been accomplished! Our back lawn, such as it is, has been destroyed, but we were planning to bring in a truckload of dirt anyway, so we can fix it. And I moved 3 large azaleas and 4 or 5 small ones, plus I dug out around the remnants of the paulownia stump so **FCD **can chainsaw the crap out of it! Once that is done and I move 3 more azaleas and a peony, we’ll be ready for dirt and a box blade.

But not today. I just had me some tylenol and I’m finishing a sammich. Much lazy will ensue for the rest of the day. After a shower. I’m cruddy.

**tugig **- that is worthy of a t-shirt!

**sari **- good luck! I hope this is the beginning of the end of your house adventures!

Oh, my aching back… :frowning:

****Yeah Moooooom, the shed is moved.

Happy Thorsday all

Blurfity blurf blurf

2gig that is a rather utile statement, and use it I shall

Jim

Oooghh… I hate pollen! Today through the rest of the weekend is supposed to be 12 out of 12 on the pollen scale around here, according to the TV news people.

The good news is that I won’t be here next year to be attacked by the yellowish-green crud.

It’s been a productive day. Shed moved, bunches of azaleas transplanted (3 more to go) 2 loads taken to the dump, and I think we’ve decided on the new roofing for the shed. Plus, I’ve done a load of laundry and mostly dug out around a stump the **FCD **will remove eventually. I ache, but I’m feeling accomplished.

I’m also glad I built the lasagne last night. It’s sitting on the counter for a bit - in about half an hour, it goes into the oven. It’s big enough that I’ll have another meal to put in the freezer. It’s impossible to make a small lasagne - it simply can’t be done!!

I’m really beat - I should sleep like the dead tonight. A certain comedian asked if I wanted to go to the gym today. I didn’t smack him, only because I was too tired to life my arm.

Oh yeah, for those who don’t follow me on FB: Relocated shed.

PS - if you want to follow me on FB, you have only to ask. A chocolate love offering wouldn’t hurt your case.

I’m home! Did you miss me??

I got a call from a different school which is just about exactly half way between my family and RT’s and I have an interview with them in 2 weeks. Yay!

Decisions, decisions… We plan to move in a couple of months, and we have some options. Some of them are surprising.

Option 1: Cram everything into two jumbo U-Hauls and we caravan across the continent. We’ve got some friends who are willing to drive a truck, so we’d be a merry band of Rennies. The downside is having to schedule around everyone elses’ schedules, and probably needing to cough up some airfares to get them here. Oh, we also have to lug everything on and off the truck. Estimated price with gas is $6,000.

Option 2: Cram everything into three PODS containers. Quoted price is just shy of $12,000, and that’s with a return customer discount. We have to load and unload these as well, but their one-inch loading height makes that easier than a truck with a ramp.

Option 3: Hire professional movers. HUGE surprise here. Someone came to the house today, poked around all our stuff, taking note of antique furniture, pianos, etc. and they just sent me a proposal listing a “not to exceed” cost of under $8500.

I’m hoping DH considers this to be a no-brainer.
