The n00bing of the MMP -- a tale of hubris and temerity

My son is going to Paris, France this summer for a summer college session atthe Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises. A study abroad session is a requirement for his major and he just got notification that he was accepted today. I’m so excited for him! Details should be finalized by tomorrow. I’m afraid to know what it’s going to cost, but I do know he was recommended for a scholarship. Hopefully, he’ll get it and it will help defray some of the cost.

I am proud of my son. He’s really found his niche and he’s popular with both the professors and students in the International Studies program. He’s doing exceptionally well and he’s just so much happier doing this instead of the Engineering program.

Everyone’s talk of food has made me feel a little peckish. Well, that and the fact that all I’ve had today is a couple cups of coffee. I think I shall find something to nosh on.

Taters yay for the tot! Sounds like he’s doin’ great in college.

Howdy from da cave! Mexican commestibles have been ingested. YUM! Also, I did get all the stuff for fish ‘n chips and get ‘em over to the church house. Can’t believe how easy it was gettin’ in and out of the Pubic Sto’! Most of that had to do with the fact that except for the coleslaw mix and the catfish filets, everything I needed was on one convenient aisle.

Sari you could take off the ets and the ager.

Tomorrow’s supper is assembled and sitting in the fridge. Much cheese has gone into the assembly of this lasagne, and it will be very yummy! I think I’ll get some crusty bread tomorrow. Cain’t hardly wait!

I did laundry. Guy in the SUV next to me said he could fix my bumper cover, since he did body work. I looked at the duct tape holding his right side doors on:dubious: and said"uh-huh. sure." Now I’m making something caliente for dinner.

Yay for Tater-son! Although when I see your son’s name on Facebook, I think of the hockey player. Bet your son has more teeth, though.

sari, if you don’t get the house, get a new Realtor[sup]TM[/sup] and a new ass[del]et manager[/del]

Moooommmm!, you make me feel like a slacker, with all the work you do.

He who would pun would pick a pocket.
//old roll eyes//

Sorry, Taters. Somehow I keep forgetting that your husband is a truck driver, too. No idea why.

I’ll start backwards with other news… I just woke up from a nap. I drove about 7 hours today and had about a 45-50 minute interview in the middle. I was and am still exhausted. I checked my email when I woke up and unfortunately I found out two pieces of bad news. First of all, despite the fact that I told them a week ago that I wouldn’t be there today, there’s a general shortage of substitutes and no one accepted my job today. Generally that makes the job of my co-teacher more difficult and also leaves one class period a day without coverage. I find this really frustrating and yet there is nothing else I could have done. It’s not like this school system has offered me a full-time position for next year, so I must be able to leave to go to other schools for interviews.

The other piece of news is probably something that I can’t share, but it was about a significant negative event in the life of a child who was just starting to get themselves back on track.

It all sucks.

In better news, my interview went pretty well, or at least I think so. There was one question that I didn’t know the answer to and I was pretty impressed with the principal and his conciliatory tone about the demands of the job and how it was ok that I didn’t know the answer but when he questioned me I was able to tell him how I’d find out the correct information. They said they’d let me know either way and that there would be a second round of interviews including teaching a lesson to a select group of students. Hope I make it to the second round!

**Taters **- I’ll repeat congrats here! I envy your son - I’d have killed for a semester abroad when I was in college.

**doggio **- could it be because you *are *a slacker??? Just wondering…

I am going to slack off shortly. I need to get this afghan done in the next week, then all 3 have to be washed so I can take them to my Mom when we go up there on Easter. I’d get it done a lot faster if the idiot dog and cat would leave me alone while I work on it.

All of a sudden, I feel really tired. I think I’ll shower, then dress comfy and assume the afghaning position. MWAH!!

What else would you call Taters’ offspring?

LOL! Yes, my Bryan definitely has more teeth than the hockey player.

Thanks for the congrats to my son. He’s worked very hard for this. He’ll be cutting it close upon his return for fall quarter because he won’t be leaving until some time in June. It also means we won’t really see much of him this summer. But, this is such an incredible opportunity for him and I’m so happy for him.

I’m so sorry about your bad news, Stickie. Fingers crossed on a call back for the interview.

Well I finally heard got a counter offer so I have to decide

damn I hate making decisions

Tater’s offspring
Offspring (v.1.0)
Young Tater
Child of Tater
Rug Rat
Ankle Biter
Tater’s Larva.

I kind of like “Child of Tater.”

YMMV

Besides, it is an ideal chance to diss Swampy.
 I licked your pie.

My son is my youngest child. He has a sister who just about three years older than him.

In even more good news, he has an interview with the university newspaper tomorrow. They find his writing to be “very impressive” and want to offer him a column. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of that.

[Magic 8-Ball]Yes, Definitely[/Magic 8-Ball]

Watching hockey on the computer.

My Son, the Column Writer.

Lazy day off. Most productive thing I’ve even wanted to do was get a few grocery items, since I live in walking range of a decent enough grocery store.

What I didn’t want to do was buy another printer, but the current one has decided it will no longer dispense yellow. This is not acceptable.

Also playing with voice commands on my phone, and have verified that I can get it to dial that way. Also got the Bluetooth earpiece paired and working. On days I drive to work, having the ability to make any necessary calls, such as letting work know if I’m going to be late due to traffic issues, legally while in transit would be good.

Morning, mumpers! I am at irk, it is not too irksome yet but it’s early in the day. I have tea so that will make the irksomeness feel a bit better. Also, I had an email today to say that I have an interview for a job next week so perhaps instead of genuine irk, I shall do a bit of interview preparation instead.

Pub last night was fun, conversation ended up with the spoof goat simulator game. Yes, we do talk about odd stuff. Tonight there will be a workout and some grocery shopping but not necessarily in that order.

Back to the grind…

Howdy.

Blurf.

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Last home hockey game tonight.

Boofae, the spoof goat simulator would be cool, because everybody wants to goat.

Good morning.

I’m awake. I suppose that’s a good thing. I need more coffee, though. Another cup should do it.

Not much going on around here today. I’ll be wandering off to the store for groceries, and paying a bill, or two. That should cover it. Of course, there will be housework later. Such an exciting life.

I hope your day is a pleasant one, folks.
