Memo to the media: There are other things going on in the world that have nothing to do with Tiger Woods. There are actually some very important stories with life-or-death issues that you could be telling me about . . . things that may have actual meaning to your viewers. I suspect that the world would not come to an end if I’m not constantly updated on his return to golf.
I know, right? There could be more stories on Lady Gaga, the Teabaggers, or the missing white woman du jour. Get your priorities straight, media!

Oh preach it!! When the lead news story here in Australia is fucking Tiger Woods and the new Nike ad with his dad’s voiceover, you know it’s time to plan migrating to Mars.
When Tiger was on the tee a small airplane was flying around pulling a sign saying "you mean bootyism’. Someone spent their money to do that. Cool. (Tiger said he was back to Buddhism at his pre Masters interview.)
Can you imagine the shitstorm if the message had been mocking Christianity?

Speaking as a Buddhist, I’d suspect there’s no outcry because A) we tend, as a religion, to be pretty laid back and B) it’s funny as hell.

I turned on ESPN News at a random moment last night, figuring there was at least even odds that something else was being talked about, but no, it was Tiger being interviewed.
It’s Tiger all the time. Nothing else remotely matters. Deal with it.
Goign to ESPN (who has Masters coverage during the week) and bitching about Tiger stories is a bit stupid.
I checked CNN, ABCnews, & FoxNews this morning, and none of them had a front page story about Tiger, so I’m not sure what all the complaining is about. CNN had a front page story about Golf & The Masters that wasn’t about Tiger, and ABC had a small link to a story in their sports section. All in all, I’d say the amount of hype has been considerably less than I thought it would be.
I thought it amusing yesterday when the TV commentators at the Masters repeatedly commented on how surprised they were at the favorable response Tiger received! 
I was surprised at how well he did on his first round.
That was easily his best opening 18 holes at the Masters.

CNN plays here at work and there has been tons of Tiger coverage all week. His picture is not on the frontpage of their webpage today, but there still is a Tiger link there.
And certainly the Nike ad created a lot of buzz on TV, radio, and here at the Dope.
It’s not just ESPN. Maybe you expected more coverage, but it is still too much.

Yeah, it’s a bit ridiculous. I heard several (hundred) times on various news programs yesterday that he was sitting fifth after the first round. I never did hear who the leader was.
