The New Guy MMP

Same thing, sans cheese.

ETA New page, beyond the counter…

Happy Friday all!

Was asked to go to work a bit earlier than normal for me - in at 11a instead of 2p so I get to go home earlier as well. Very excited 'bout that.

I will get a chance to hit the grocery on the way home and make a chili tonight. It makes me very happy.

Had an amusing thing happen last night: I had bought a newfangled stereo amplifier some months ago which has the ability to play internet streams (internet radio statios) and it has also allowed me to plug my iPod directly into the amp to play iTunes over the big speakers.

Well last night as I was playing with my laptop a note pops up saying “The computer has detected a shared source” or some crap like that. Long story short after messing with the stereo, computer and my iPhone I end up being able to play anything on the iPhone over my stereo: iTunes, SiriusXM & other stuff without plugging it in - it works through the wifi.

Oh what a technological hardon this brings…

Let’s see… I had an edible cheeseburger for lunch today, and yesterday, I played tiny little David and went up against mammoth giant AT&T.

Our first-year intro pricing expired, and the price for our Uverse went up by nearly $50 a month. I called them, expecting to dance with an unflappably polite, but incomprehensible person on the subcontinent and maybe get a token “Well, we can knock ten dollars off of that” and I’d parry and say I might switch to Dish, and they counter with a $15 discount and 30 days of free HBO.

What I got was a cool cat in Florida who ran through everything we had and put together a package that bumps us up to the 300-channel tier, the internet kicks up to 24 meg, and our monthly price only increases by $6. Very acceptable! Best of all, we now get the Smithsonian channel.

Smithsonian Channel and National Geographic represent 50% of my TV right now.

May I suggest Inside Combat Rescue, a six part series on National Geographic about the Air Force PJs in Afghanistan. They are the combat helicopter paramedics - unbelieveable series on right now.

I will attempt chicken Parmesan for dinner this evening.

I had empenadas (sp?) with chimmichurri and some kind of a chorizo sausage sandwich for lunch with my Peruvian friend. We loves us some Argentina.

I ate chunky chicken dumpling soup and a chicken salad sandwich. I made the Chicken Salad a few days ago, so I hope it is still good. That, or this will be a interesting next couple of days.

Leftover Nommy soup & a PBJ for lunch.

Dinner will be syrian chicken.

Doing my Pre Sabbath chores. (wow exciting!)
(that’s pretty much it.)

as opposed to an inedible one?

I’ll be right over.

“Speak to us about Syrian chicken”, the multitude asked.

I believe Swampy’s similarity in birthdate to Hugo Chavez was just mentioned in the Death Pool. But then, I’m bad at IDing MMPers. :frowning:

Gather around me, chilluns and I will tell ye of the Syrian Chicken.
First of all ye must have the chicken pieces, as many as will feed ye family, thawed well. Then ye must have the butter, athough the margarine will do. And ye must apply the pot to the fire, and melt the butter, and put the garlic into it. and the garlic should be chopped fine, and should be about half a bulb’s worth. And when ye have the garlic butter, then it is time for the adding of the chicken. And the chicken shall be sauteed until brown-ish on the outside, but not too long. The chicken is removed from the pot, and the fire shall be dwindled to about medium. And the can of Tomato paste is added. and a cup of water that is hot and more cinnimon that ye think should go in there, at least a spoonsfull, and the salt and the pepper. Still the pot well. Add the chicken and the potatoes that have been chopped. Cover with water, and let the fire cook until the chicken is all cooked. And ye can add a bag of vegatables, if ye desire.

Shhhhhhhh!

And thus endeth ye olde lesson.

Thanks!

Home, have shopped, am ready to go into hermit mode.

Giggity, I shall also be making a chili this weekend. And I will have to pick up some chicken on my next Trip To The Store so I can make some of that Chicken That Is Syrian. (More cinnamon than I think should go in there? Girl, you have no idea how much I loves me some cinnamon.)

:frowning:

I just logged onto facebook for the first time today and found out that Dave’s roommate that he lived with the entire time I knew him passed away this week. I know that he had some kind of health issue that no one ever talked about but it was still a complete surprise to me. I saw him two weeks ago Saturday and had tricked him with some fake cupcakes and promised him real ones for tomorrow. Right now they’re sitting in my kitchen waiting to be iced. :frowning:

I’m sorry, Sticks.

(((Sticky))) :frowning:

I think I’ll just quietly knit the night away…

Sympathy to Sticks and anyone else who needs it.

If one more thing goes wrong, I’m going to have to take that as a strong hint that I need to skip the BBQ social at church tonight. I’ve had one batch of banana bread fail spectacularly and I discovered on my way back from a panic fast walk to nearby grocery (which didn’t have bananas anywhere near ripe enough for batch 2, I had to use up what I had on hand that was at “just right” eating stage, darn it!) that the car’s headlights had been on since I got home from taking DH to work. I got home at 2, discovered the car wouldn’t start at 4:15-ish, had to call for roadside assist (one piece of insurance coverage I do NOT wish to drop, especially since it’s only about $1/month). Slammed the new batch of banana bread into the oven by 4:40, expected remove time ca. 5:30. I need to be out the door by 6, and still need to shower and change clothes somewhere in all this.

If I were a drinker, I’d probably be skipping the glass and chugging from the bottle about now.
