The next MMP

Haze, that’s disgusting! It’s totally uncalled for and unacceptable nowadays!

On a lighter note, today (Saturday) is my official day off!!! In about 2 hours time, I will be sitting in Chilli’s with my friend, eating some kind of crap fried food covered in cheese goo, planning our assault on the shopping mall. Meanwhile, my husband will be sitting at home, whinging about how hard it is to get anything done when Noor won’t sleep for longer than 45 minutes at a stretch. Boohoo!!!

Sorry - it’s part of a set and I hate to break it up.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, only 2 freebies have been claimed so far, so you’ve got a shot at my “primitive” work - it’s in the MMP Giveaway Subalbum.

No online store yet, but that evil, evil etsy site is calling. I may select a few pieces and give it a try - not a lot of risk as far as I can see.

Oh yeah, I am up ridiculously early on a Saturday, despite having a beverage of the alcoholic persuasion last night (Mike’s Hard Lemonade that the kids left behind) Miss Brandy felt compelled to share my pillow about 5:30, which somehow triggered my bladder to express urgency. Anyway, I’m up, I’ve got the dishwasher running, the critters have been pottied and fed, and I’m slightly bummed.

I got an email from one of my bestest friends from high school. Apparently there’s going to be a 35th reunion - on the day I’m already committed to do a craft show. I did ask for details - if it’s in the evening, I might be able to make it, then spend the night at my mom’s, since it’ll be held in Baltimore. We shall see. Thirty-five years!!

Speaking of getting old and decrepit, don’t forget that tomorrow is a very special day for a very old and decrepit subliminal MMPer. Remember to speak up, since his old decrepitude probably includes being hard of hearing. Just sayin’… :stuck_out_tongue:

Morning everyone! It’s actually not raining for once over here!

Ems - whereabouts is your mother? Mine is in Notts and has been phoning regularly just to make sure my feet are still dry.

When I left work yesterday the two lower floors had pretty much been emptied but that means the contents of a lot of offices are stacked up in the corridors and every available bit of space now has someone working in it, well as much as they can work without the IT guys putting in extra network points for them. The basement is completely flooded and all the archived records in there are lost, including a lot of the case files for student grievances and appeals that aren’t completed yet.

Outside, everything looks fairly normal around the building, it’s not sitting in a lake yet but you can see that a lot of damage has been done. It’s a very old building and there are now concerns that the amount of water might have caused structural damage.

I was supposed to be playing rugby down at Pershore in Worcestershire tomorrow, but this is the pitch so I guess we won’t be playing down there for a while. That was also the site for dragonboat racing weekend which has been cancelled because we can no longer tell where the river is!

I would love a FCM Original, but right now I don’t know our new postal code. Maybe at the next giveaway.

Haze, that’s insane! Stuff like that hasn’t happened to me in fifteen years. What the hell was wrong with him?
I’m wearing my new maternity jeans. It’s a little hot for jeans, but they’re new! And slightly more comfortable than excercise pants! So comfy!

Time to drink tea, wash the dishes from yesterday’s late supper, tidy, and throw things into boxes.

Morning, all. I ended up being pretty lazy yesterday, which was quite nice. And I crawled in bed early and got lots more Harry Potter catch-up reading done – I had to reread 5 and 6 before starting 7, and I’m halfway through 6 now. What’s my excuse? I haven’t had exactly a lot of reading time lately, thanks to the dear idiots in Congress, not to mention catching Teh Sick which just put me to sleep. :frowning:

That is really awful, Haze! Not to mention the guy was an idiot, since you’re not even Chinese. If you ever had any doubt about racism being a product of ignorance…anyway, I’m sorry you had to go through that. Me, I probably would have spit in the guy’s face!

Her Royal Highness is a total doll, Dotty! She looks like she is a lot of fun. And is she perhaps daddy’s spoiled little girl?

I couldn’t see your photo of the rugby pitch, BooFae; it said I didn’t have permission. Want to try again? I hope there’s no damage to your building; do be careful!

Off to do something productive. Like caffeinate some more.

I can’t do much about the photo, MamaTigs, it’s from a friend’s photo site. She says it should be publicly accessible but obviously not!

This YouTube clip is the same place, the last couple of seconds just as they show the corner of the leisure centre is the view of the rugby pitch and the playing fields. Hopefully you’ll have more luck with that one.

Been out, done errands, am off for a bath and general bit of purtification before we head out to the Wellington with some friends for beerverages. Yesterday the beer board said they had Sarah Hughes’ “Dark Ruby Mild” which is a fantastically lovely pint, but today they aren’t listing it. I suppose I’ll have to make do with the chocolate stout instead. Such hardships…

Back from breakfasting and erranding and boat checking. **FCD ** is going to fix the faucet that goes out in front of the house - right now, it leaks and spills into the blocks that make up the foundation, ultimately flooding the basement. Not good. So that’s his main plan for the day. I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer, and once they’re done, he’s turning off the water and playing with plumbing.

We ran by the boat, and while it is doing fine, the finger pier isn’t. When **FCD ** walked out on it, the bolts holding the side nearest our boat let go - rot, I expect. He, of course, had to be funny and bounce up and down. Then we went and found Jimmy, who runs the boat yard, and showed him the damage. He was talking about getting the little floaty platform and fixing the support for us, so yay. It’ll be a couple of weeks before we sail again - I expect it’ll be fine by then.

And I think we’ve finally decided how we’re going to handle the additional residents. **FCD ** has wanted his own separate shop and since we have such a huge yard, there’s no reason not to build one. We walked the yard with a measuring tape and finally settled on the preferred site. It’ll require that we remove 4 smallish trees, but it’s on one of the flattest parts of the lot and relatively close to the house. He’ll have access from the side gate to bring lumber and stuff in, and it’s set back enough from the house that it won’t block much of the view out the back windows.

The big unknown right now is how much it’ll cost to run electricity to the new building. He wants 200 amp service, and the nearest transformer is on the other side of the house, beside the road, probably 150’ or more from the shop site. Since they run power underground in this neighborhood, that could be very pricy. We shall see.

So chances are we’ll be building that shop starting this fall. The ultimate result is that my studio space will double and the kids will get most of the basement for their “apartment.” They’ll have a bedroom, a living room, and an office, plus 2 huge closets. That’ll give them privacy within the house. So it should work out.

I need to get into my grubbies again and build more monsters. Laterz!

We went to Las Vegas? Was Elvis there? Was it the fat Elvis or the skinny one?

Again with the room. The last time this was suggested, there were so many people pounding on the door to get in, I couldn’t even hear myself think. And usually the thinking is so loud, I can hear it clunking through jet engine noise.

Huh. That’s like 11 pm my time. That wasn’t that late. This time warp stuff is mind-boggling. But I was already sleeping by then, so it doesn’t count. But I just figured something out (doesn’t take me long). . .when you’re here at 10 pm my time, it’s already 8 am for you. For some reason I thought you were getting up much earlier. My slug comment still stands.

Is that because you don’t need any?
**
Queenie**, congrats on the new horse.
**
Dottie**, have fun on your day off. Your plans sound fun. . .especially the eating crap fried food part.

Lili, you’re sounding a lot more chipper. I hope you’re feeling it too.

Good morning, folks! It’s 9:16 am and I just got done cleaning the toilet. Yeehaw! And that’s the exciting news for the day. Off to see if I can top that.

I’ll get to the fun stuff presently, Roo, but I’d like to address this:

seriously.

I’m an atheist. Hard. If somebody comes up to me and offers to “pray for my soul” or asks me to “join them in prayer in order to heal my soul” the fireworks will make a July 4th extravaganza look like a wet firecracker.

That said, when a person asks others to pray because it makes them feel better knowing others are praying for them I have no problem with that, and I will join them, pray for them (in my own, non-denominational and non-theistic way) and do whatever I can, in their own frame of belief, to help them.

I hope this makes some sense…

On to write the fun post now… stay tuned!

BooFae, I fixed your linky-poo. That’s a LOT of water!

So, lunch and shopping was nice. We ended up going to Johnny Carino’s for lunch though, instead of Chilli’s - stuffed my faced with Pepperoni Bread (like calzone), Chicken Milano (grilled chicken breast topped with mushrooms in a cream sauce, ham and provolone cheese) with a side of Fettucine Alfredo and Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake. Man, did I feel sick after all that!!! :: pukey smiley::

My purchases were indeed grand - some LCD screen wipes, to clean all the crud off my 'pooter screen, some disposable nappies, some baby bottom wipes and some photo paper. Woohoo!!! I admit I was sorely tempted in Gap to buy some REALLY cute stuff for Noor, but I resisted - we really can’t afford it right now, as I am now into the “unpaid” part of my maternity leave. :frowning:

Hubby called me in an angry panic at 5pm to demand when I was coming home, since my daughter wouldn’t stop crying! I told him to get a grip and try feeding her! I got home at 6pm to find her fed and fast asleep for the night! Aahhhhh! Since when did I become the expert??? Oh, Lili, I tried that “Shhhh” technique on Noor this morning when she was having a screaming fit about a dirty nappy - worked like a charm - she just shut straight up and looked at me like I was some kind of supreme being! Definitely worth remembering!

Special1, can I ask how you ended up in Israel if you are an atheist? Feel free to tell me it’s none of my beeswax - just curious.

Probably the skinny one. The fat one was sappy and out of it even when he was alive.

Maybe we shouldn’t tell people where we’re going this time. Or just go to my place; hopefully enough people are scared of traveling to Israel that the field will be a bit thinner… :stuck_out_tongue:
Everybody: There is no message in the gap above. Nothing at all. Nothing to see here. Move along

So why did you only check in at 9:30, pray tell…? Having too much fun in bed to get up? Was I there?

**Haze **-- I’m still mad because of what those jerks said to you

Short answer – I grew up here. It’s home.

Longer answer – being “Jewish” can take several forms. It’s really a misnomer to use the same word for the religion, the culture and the ethnicity. I’m very much culturally Jewish, without buying into the religious bit. I’m also ethnically Jewish, although I don’t really look it.

Also, Israel is just a good place to live and to raise children, any other impressions one may get from the media notwithstanding. It really is.

Okay - thanks. I was just wondering.

Why are all the Google ads for boarding schools? Maybe they figure you and Heff need reforming??? And, seriously, would you send your kids to a school named “Queen Ethelburga’s”??? :dubious:

No problem.

I’m getting “stop drinking” adds. Maybe it means I should be getting her drunk?

Good morning everyone. Wait, need to to get a second cup of coffee…now I’m back.

Boo, cripes, I hope the flooding starts receding soon. You all are going to have to build an ark, for Pete’s sake!

I’m keeping **Libby ** in my thoughts. I’m also keeping Fleader’s friend’s friend Dad in my thoughts.

Haze, that sort of crap just pisses me right the hell off. That guy is a waste of oxygen. I’m sorry you and your brother had to deal with it.

Dotty, baby Noor is a cutie-pie.

We were planning on going out on the boat today, but we’re kind of stuck in limbo land wondering if we’re going to get a package. The damn Fed Ex site has updated since the 26th, so now we’re not sure if we’ll get the package today or Monday. Grrrrrrrrrr.

If it turns out we’re staying home, I think I’ll muck out the den and steam clean the carpets. Once again, there’s nothing exciting going on here in ol’ Taterland. Same ol’, same ol’.

My poor husband had a nightmare last night that left him in tears. He dreamed about his Dad, who we lost many years ago now. The dream disturbed him so much that he stayed up for awhile after the dream.

I guess I’ll cruise the Dope for a bit then get motivated and do something.

Huh. I just took part in a building yard sale- got home from grocery shopping and some of the girls were strewing stuff around. I’ve just spent an hour sitting outside with a popsicle, selling people my junk. I made eleven dollars. I also promised an elderly Filipino lady bellydance lessons. I think.

She said she’d been taking bellydance, and I asked her to show me, and I went over some movements with her, and she hugged, me, told me I was better than her teacher, and asked me how much I’d charge.  And she has a friend that might be interested, too. She was extremely friendly and cute- maybe my Dad’s age (75).

Heff, I am feeling better (although I puked after brushing my teeth. Amazing gag reflex, yuck) and I’m very very grateful to not feel horrible all the time. I wish I could give up brushing my teeth. About one time in five I puke from doing it.
I think I’m going to organize some lunch.

Lili, I often found when I was pregnant that brushing my teeth would make me puke. Even coughing a little too hard would set the diaphragm into spasms!

I think I need to get back into belly dancing - Og knows I’ve got the belly now! :stuck_out_tongue: Yeah, yeah, my OTT lunch today probably didn’t help, but, SIGH, I am sick of looking like I’m pregnant when the bump is now nearly 4 months old!

Well, hubby is having his kneejerk reactionary time out with the boys this evening! Good lord, he spent 5 hours alone with Noor (and no dirty nappies to change in that time, as she is now back to her regularly scheduled 2 bowel movements before lunch) and he was almost a blathering mess when I got home! Men, huh? Oh, and I can’t remember who asked, but YES, Noor is definitely Daddy’s little girl. She just coos and giggles constantly when she’s with him (except for her screaming fit at 5pm this afternoon!).

Tomorrow is grocery shopping day, but I think I will wait until hubby gets home in the afternoon - if you all remember, last time I took Noor with me, she ended the trip with projectile vomiting and 2 weeks of diarrhoea! :frowning: At least we are finally cleared to go back to playgroup tomorrow, although I am not sure there will be very many Mums and Tots in attendance - most everyone has abandoned the island for cooler climes (who wouldn’t, if they could?).

Thanks for the anger and sympathy, everyone. I was furious at the time, but what can you do? I really didn’t want to make a scene, and nothing I could have said would have made much difference. Sometimes you just have to laugh and walk away.

Ack, must run, am late. Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

Haze, that’s awful! I’m sorry you two had to put up with that.
Dotty, Noor is adorable! (Of course you knew that) Great pics.
Poor Mr. Taters. I think I had one of those kinds of nightmares early this morning. (Ah, not about your father in law, but you know.)
Lili, glad you’re feeling better.

Thanks for the prayers and nice thoughts, everyone. I’ll be honest, I don’t usually pray either, not of my own accord. But my friend has asked for prayers, and I don’t know how else to help her right now, so I pray. And I know people praying for her is making her feel better, so I asked all of you. I appreciate it very much.
