BooFae my mam said that the weather has been just awful at home! I have a friend who works in Paris but just bought a house close to the Thames a coupeol months ago she was heading home this weekend to survey the damage…
So I am Boss Lady in my district aka Da Big Boss I get back at 4 PM after driving 2 1/2 hours each way to a meeting to find the place empty. The phones inate ability to guess my exact location kicked in as soon as I walked in the door and hasn’t stopped since! Grrrrrrrr
There is something wrong when I am still here at … 5.39PM on a Friday and everyone else is at home…I feel the need for beer or something
Well, I haven’t gone anywhere, yet. I got to the airport to find that my flight was delayed 4 hours. No way could I arrive in Rhode Island at midnight and then drive to Cape Cod–I’ve been up since 0415! :eek:
So, I asked to be put on the first flight tomorrow…which leaves at 0730. I thought minibreaks meant you could actually rest and relax, not get up early and drive etc …
Argh.
BooFae–it’s STILL raining there? Dear God, I hope it stops soon.

I always pour off any accumulated whey before I dish out my cottage cheese. You can make yogurt cheese by putting some yogurt in a coffee filter in a strainer over a bowl and leave in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. It drains off the extra whey and makes the yogurt really thick, almost like a thick pudding. I suppose you could try it with cottage cheese so it would be less liquidy.
I agree with Haze, McUne - How dare you force us to buy pretty things!
Sorry to hear about your friend’s dad, Fleader. Good thoughts and prayers headed out for him and his whole family.
And of course I’ll wave back. (Although I think we Dopers specialize in looking crazy, so it’d be OK even if I didn’t. Really.)

Wile E, I am gonna try that trick with my yoghurt real soon - Greek yoghurt is very expensive here and the regular cheap-ass yoghurt is really thin and not so tasty - maybe if I “filtered” it, it would be a bit nicer!

I was grocery shopping today with my brother when some random guy crossing our path looked at us, asked, “You got any eggrolls?” then spat at our feet. My brother, who has never experienced any racism (he was too young when we were previously living in the US) was utterly confused, while I was furious. I opened my mouth to say something, then swallowed it and just walked away. I can’t believe people like that still exist. It’s been so long since I’ve actually experienced racism directed towards me that it really caught me off-guard. Douchebag.
On the other hand, Wilco will be playing in Chicago in September, in Millennium Park. Awesome.

Well we added a new member to the (already huge) family yesterday. I live in an economically depressed neighborhood (to say the least) and I was gifted with a HORSE yesterday. The people across the street (I’ve talked about them before in other threads - meth addicts) had a horse they couldn’t take care of any more and they must have thought, “Oh, those crazy people across the way that feed our kids and chickens all the time could totally use another horse!” We board horses for other people already, and their payment goes to the one (1) horse that belongs to us, so it looks like a little more hay will have to go to our new guy. Severely malnourished, but a real sweetheart. He’s so malnourished his withers come up to my armpits (I’m 5’5"). He’s so tiny I thought he was a foal but he’s three! I suspect he is some sort of exotic judging by his feet. I’ll have to see him in motion to really find out.
He had a few scrapes on his back that I cleaned up and his hooves are pretty bad - grown out so long his fetlocks are hyperextended. Fortunately, our next-door neighbor the hottie beefcake transplant from Hungary is studying to be a farrier (horseshoer) and has vowed to help us out with the little guy. He’s not quite blending in with the rest of the herd just yet but these things take time. I promise pics by the weekend.
In other news, my husband’s boss (he externs at the local courthouse) begged him to stay on through the school year and had a position created for him. He also told me to I could sit in on trials and hang out in the sidebar whenever I want since he knows I plan to go into criminal prosecution. So I sat in today on a trial which was very interesting. Judge’s bro is an assistant DA and gave me the run-down on the career arc and benefits etc. I feel very fortunate that I get to “try before I buy” WRT to a career choice. I think I found a good fit for me.
Off to bed with me - I had many beerverages and a fat cigar and went to the movies and now I need to read some Lovecraft and sleep!
