I thought it was one of the strongest episodes of the season and really liked the Holly/Michael sympatico impulses.
I also liked the caption contest and the Ryan/Kelly divorce.

What did he have in his hand when he came out of the restroom? He was carrying something blue.
Ditto on the uptick in writing/plot.
I thought the bad writing was the fact that the camera crew (which is in fact a character on the show) knew why Jim was leaving, saw Jim leave, was in fact abandoned themselves, but never told Michael where he went or why.
Isn’t it fairly common in documentary/reality-style shows for the camera crew to leave the subject in the dark?
I think it was the bathroom key (attached to something large so you can’t forget to return it to the attendant).
Washroom keys.
It was a decent episode. Caption contest was a little weak, although the Angela moment saved it a little. Loved that Holly tracked Michael down by not even thinking too hard about it. And Michael with the puppies… so cute! At any rate, I am SO glad to see Michael and Holly together again. I suppose this is the set up for him leaving… he’ll go with her to Nashua.
I absolutely loved that when left to do whatever she wanted, Holly instinctively did everything Michael did.
It appears to me that John Krasinski is weaning himself off of looking at the camera. I would think it would be very difficult to go on to other roles and avoid doing the same thing, though it seems he’s managed so far. Or maybe the show is just taking a turn away from that sort of idea. Bad news about Mindy Kaling. She hasn’t been my favorite personality on the program, but her writing will be sorely missed.
That drives me nuts. In some of the other shows I watched (notably Six Feet Under and Sopranos, but also Seinfeld when it comes up) there would be people that would bitch and moan every single week about it. I never understood why they would continue to watch it. No one is forcing you to watch the show. You don’t have to like it. It’s perfectly acceptable to watch something else instead, millions of people do it. All we ask is that you don’t shit on our thread.
I have no problem with negative reviews. It’s art; it should be subject to criticism. However, the “I’m never watching this again!” stuff is very drama-queeny.
I asked this a couple episodes ago, but has John Krasinski been working on something else? This was the third episode in in a row where he had a relatively small role.
His imdb.com listing says he’s working on “The Muppets” and has had 2 projects that are wrapping up.
Holly and Michael remind me of Dick and Mary on 3rd Rock From the Sun. The dynamic between a crazy man and a woman who seems to have it all put together but just below the surface is just as strange as her soul mate.
Uh, maybe he figured he wouldn’t need either one while doing his business?
I think he stopped wearing business casual once Kathy Bates left. And I can’t tell you what most of the employees are doing all day, so I don’t see why this bothers you so much when it comes to Daryl.
I like the Michael and Holly dynamic. Some of the captions for the cartoon were lame though. Especially Darryl’s, who acted as if he was an expert.
Good episode though. Very sweet.
But why would he have bothered to take them out of his pockets? Hell, he didn’t even take off his overcoat before going in.
As I stated last year at about the same time, I don’t WATCH it, I MONITOR it.
But seriously, I think this show has an amazingly talented cast, but the writers and the 399 “producers” ruin it (IN MY OPINION) with completely unrealistic scenarios.
No show has to be perfect, but they can’t treat the audience like idiots either.
It actually has some very funny moments (like when they showed the pictures of Michael and then Creed with “thief” on them) and the beginning was clever. I think Mindy is VERY funny.
But they get lazy with the unrealistic scenarios. All they had to do was have Michael leave his coat with the phone and wallet in Jim’s car.
And then Jim is pounding on the bathroom door and yelling, but Michael doesn’t hear him but walks out the door like everything is ok?
And why wouldn’t Jim tell the camera crew to tell Michael where he went?
Like I stated above, I love the great cast, and the plots are actually clever (Holly knowing how Michael thinks) but you would think that at least one of the 700 producers could help improve the script.
exactly
When I drive/ride in cars, I often empty my pockets into the drink holders. It’s more comfortable that way, ESPECIALLY when wearing suit pants.
As far as I can tell, the only reason Daryll is upstairs now is so that he can be on camera more often. Has he shown up in the opening credits yet?
