The Office: 04 Feb 2011

No one cares about your bullshit distinction. Please stop shitting in every single The Office thread. We all know there are inconsistencies and bad writing. But your drama queen act is extremely tiresome, distracting and annoying. Please stop.

WTF does that even mean?
It sounds to me like you COMPLAIN about it…but then when you get called on the carpet you back track and talk about how much you like it.

I’m enjoying this season, but not nearly as much as the earlier seasons. I’ll watch through the end of this season and then I think I’m done. It’s had seven great seasons, which is 5 more than the British version (or 6 if you’re just counting episodes) and really 3 seasons more than you’d have ever realistically expected from a show of this nature with this format.

But now Carrell is gone. Kaling is gone. Kranski, Helms, and Robinson are all picking up steady movie work. So are Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischer as I can see. Everyone involved in this production has one eye out for anything else coming along they can attach themselves to. I guarantee if it goes even one more season you’ll lose three more castmates by the end of it.

It’s done. End it and let it ride off into the sunset with Holly and Michael.

If it ends up being like Scrubs season 9, I will kill myself!!!

I like how Dwight, thinking Holly had some kind of psychic connection to Michael, grabbed her and started shouting, “Michael? Can you hear me?”

I did like how after he was rude to Pam on the phone he immediately said “you know I’m going to get those things for you.”

The threads on most of this board are opinion threads, including this one. I see nothing in the thread title or the OP that says this is supposed to be a lovefest. If that’s what you folks are looking for, perhaps you should start your own fanboy threads.

I’m not looking for a lovefest, and I’m not looking for fanboy-exclusive threads. I’m looking for koufax to stop threadshitting in every single The Office thread that gets posted to this board. Take a look through those results - it’s the same bitching, the same drama queen act, the same “I’m not watching this anymore”/“I’m not watching, I’m ‘monitoring’” bullshit. You have an unfavorable opinion of the show? Fine - feel free to share it. But no one needs to hear it 22 times a season.

I thought it was a pretty funny episode.

Michael bartering with the hot dog guy for free food was pretty good. And, his honesty in coming back into the restaurant.

As mentioned, Holly following in Michael’s path was awesome. And, giving a fake name for the free stress ball cracked me up. As did the fact that Erin and Dwight knew immediately Michael’s fake name.

The caption contest was funny. Its funny, but I think it might grow tiresome if Gabe continues to constantly put himself up as an object of ridicule. It was one thing to insist on non sabre jokes, quite another to insist on no pop culture references.
I love how proud everyone was of their captions.

koufax? The wallet and phone being left in the car? That’s the bit you choose to excoriate the writers for? Of all the missteps the writers take and you choose to take a stand on a throwaway line that makes perfect sense? Please, at least find legitimate complaints as you monitor the show. I often take both out to make myself comfortable while driving around. So, it didn’t seem out of place to me. And, michael not coming out right away fit right in with his depressed snit. It’s not funny I can get. But, bad writing because you never take your phone or keys out of your pocket? Odd.

I think the show is not as good as it used to be. But, I think they have done a pretty good job of adapting and changing to focus on new characters and situations. Erin is awesome a they have turned Andy into a consistently funny character - not in the same way as he was written originally. So, while the writing isn’t as consistent as it was originally, I have to give them a lot of credit for changing and finding new focus.

I didn’t know Kelly was leaving the show. Thats too bad. It will be interesting to see what they do with Ryan in her absence.

Anyway. Fun episode.

I don’t have a problem with legitimate criticism of a show, but once you say something like, “I’m not watching this show again,” I’d expect not to see you participating in the threads any more.

Did your scroll wheel stop working?

At any rate, I do agree that if you say you’re going to stop watching the show, you should mean it.

That’s exciting news. I’ll be taking the kiddo to see that.

I really dug this episode. The ending was honestly touching.

i got misty eyed at the ending.

i have no problems with koufax threadshitting especially since it’s really not even threadshitting. his points are valid. the plot was weak. the jokes hit home, but the setup left much to be desired.

also, i’d like to say, 5 years ago if you told me that Pam from the office would no longer be the most desirable woman(receptionist) on set? i would have lit your pants on fire. but that’s the way life is, isn’t it? totally unexpected but… i want to engage in romantic relations with erin… traumatic orphaning-induced craziness and all.

Fair enough. I’ve certainly done my share of bitching about the quality of this show this season, and am barely hanging on. It’s been like a slow-motion train wreck that you can’t look away from. I keep hoping that somebody associated with the show will read these threads and think “oh, shit”.

I really liked this episode a lot. There were a lot of funny little touches like how they put those post-its on Gabe’s back and Creed’s picture also being on the Thief Wall of Shame.

Heads up - you forgot to mention Daryl in his warehouse clothes sitting in his office.

You’re slipping.
mmm

Me and you Dio …buddies for life I think !

I almost always think Dio’s opinions on the show are, (for the most part), the way I feel. There have been one or two times where he doesn’t post in a thread about an episode, I sometimes ask; “I wonder what **Dio **thinks of this episode?” Just trying to provoke him to give his opinion.

If I don’t post about an episode, it’s usually because I found it disappointing or weak. I think this season has not been great (the one with Michael throwing a party for Holly’s return was kind of a nadir for me), but this last one was the kind of episode I’ve been wanting to see. Seeing Michael humiliate himself again and again and again gets old for me. I want to see him find some redemption and happiness, and this episode seemed to be a step in that direction.

I’m starting to think that Gabe would be a sensible replacement for Michael as office manager. He has a unique set of toolish qualities, and he doesn’t really do anything in his current position. Moving him into Michael’s office would make a pretty seamless transition and not disrupt the dynamic of the rest of the ensemble.

Another small thing I liked about this episode was that we got to see a little bit of nerdiness on Darryl’s part. He clearly fancied himself an ace at writing his own captions, and even though they were actually kind of lame, he thought they were gold. A little touch of Michael Scott in everybody.
