Really? I think it fits with the whole “just split up with my fiance, got my own place, trying to get back on my feet again, start dating a little bit” concept. While I don’t put it past the network to start lobbying for more sex appeal, I think her clothes sort of work with the character’s situation.
Except that 2 weeks ago she ordered clothes online and found them too sexy to wear to the office. I just get annoyed that we are going to be told more and more how hot Pam is and it is pretty much because Jenna Fischer is now considered pretty hot as a celebrity.
It’s one thing to wear a low-cut blouse in the office, but these are shoes. I mean, Wow! A woman liking shoes! Not exactly what I would call a stretch in believability, and hardly a pandering attempt to “sex her up”.
After all, like most guys, I didn’t even notice.
I love the new girl. She’s just stunning and I love the way they wrote her personality. She’s a wiz at CoD for Pete’s sake, how hot is that! The writers really have a knack for writing realistic and appealing personalities for their protagonists.
Mom’s eyes and dad’s mouth. Add in her plastered down hair and she’s the spitting image of someone I nearly ruined my life over. So I guess i lean towards “hot,” not “not.”
So Jim’s going to have a conflict: new girl Karen or Pam? Frankly, if I were him, I’d go with Karen. Pam rejected him, even if she deep down didn’t want to. He’s got a fresh start with someone new, potentially. The Karen thing is going to have to get totally screwed up before he’ll take another chance on Pam… unless there is some sort of spontaneous moment between them.
Overall, I think the show has been hilarious every week. Best sitcom on TV right now, hands down.
Hot Stamford chick who plays FPS games or the Scranton frump? I think my choice would be clear.
Maybe he can arrange some sort of poly arrangement. A threesome with Pam & Karen…
If this series parallels the Brit version, the two branches will merge, Jim will be dating Karen because he figures life with Pam is not happening - ever, Pam will be envious and go back with Roy for a time, leave the company and then return at a later date. Or some version of that.
Smitty: Another Creed deleted scene is from the “booze cruise” episode, wherein Creed gets smokin’ on a guitar with the band.
I finally got a chance to watch this episode, and I think my favorite line is during Jim and Pam’s phone conversation, when she is confused about the time zone, and he asks her just how far away she thought he was, and she said…“it felt far”. I almost cried, it was so sweet.
During the “it felt far” conversation I was thinking- is Pam really that much of a dingbat? She’s in Scranton, she knows Jim is in Stamford. Connecticut. Does she really think there are time zone differences between eastern Pennsylvania and western Connecticut? They’ve written Pam in the past as somewhat witty, but that was just- huh?
I think Pam wasn’t really thinking about it, and she probably did think it was really far because she hasn’t seen or talked to Jim in a while.
I really thought the guy who calls Jim Big Tuna was going to flip out when he got the squeaky chair. You know, maybe kick a trash can or something.
Perhaps you should all meet in the conference room for some sensitivity training?
I’m not a diehard fan of the show, I just started watching this season. Does anyone know Pam and Roy’s respective last names? During the Jim and Pam conversation he called her Ms. (I don’t remember, but I think that it was Roy’s last name). She was about to correct him when Dwight and Ryan came in and distracted her.
Did Jim call her by her last name or Roy’s?
I just assumed it was JagerBombs, but that is what we did the most in college.
Oh, and the Pam Vs. Karen thing - I’m a big fan of the chemistry between Karen and Jim at the office. Karen’s much hotter anyway.
Pam’s time zone snafu struck me as a an effort to fill the awkward silence.
But really, I agree with Lou that Stanley’s high five was the best moment.
Stanley usally has the most contempt for Michael’s BD and would be the most likely to be a gentleman to sweet Phyllis…but this was Pretzel Day!
Also, Creed is great, but I like that they used him sparingly. He is funnier that way. Take for instance the Christmas episode. Jim is on camera talking about the lame gift Creed gave (an old sweater) and said it was like he forgot to get anything and just grabbed the first thing he saw in the closet.
Cut to Creed, “That’s exactly what happened.”
Kind of like a more innocent “What are you wearing?”
I think it’s Pam Beasley and I thought Jim called her Ms. Beasley?
IMDB has it as “Pam Beesly”. No last name listed for Roy.
Yeah, he did call her Beesley - so much for my theory.
as has been mentioned up thread, there is no doubt that Jim knows Pam and Roy split. They were talking about her new apartment (whereas before – it was at least hinted, if not stated, that – she lived with Roy). Bottom line: Pam rejected Jim twice. I don’t recall her ever expressing romantic affection for Jim – when she called her mom after the “kiss”, she called Jim her “best friend.”* Jim has every reason to expect that, where Pam is concerned, he is relegated to a lifetime of cuddle privileges. I love that they brought in a a better looking girl for Jim to flirt with – reminds you that cute as Pam was, she wasn’t all that.
- I thought for a brief moment that at the end of Casino Night Jim would end up with Jan Levison, at least for the night. Can you imagine what Michael would have done if he found out Jim hit a home run in same park where he only “got to second base.”
I thought they might do this too, if only by the rules of Sitcom Cliches. I was so happy that they didn’t decide to go there.
