The Office 2/22 (Open spoilers)

I’ll start the thread. This was the best episode in a long, long time. As soon as Pam saw the duck, I knew what Toby would be doing all night. I thought that he would finally say something at the end, but alas.

Karen’s prank on Jim was absolutely perfect, as was Jim hiding Michael’s key.

I thought the CFO’s name was established as Randall in the episode where Michael goes to NYC, but I think they used a different name in this episode. Weird. I loved Dwight’s thorough inspection. “The chimney’s in pretty good shape, but I found some problems in the foundation and (something else). So all in all, a pretty good cocktail party.”

I don’t understand why Roy’s brother started throwing chairs at the end. That was kind of random.

I love assertive Pam! And I was pretty sure that Roy already knew about The Kiss. But I think that he wants to literally kill Jim. That wouldn’t make for very good comedy, I don’t think.

And how can I get a Creed fake ID?

Dwight inspecting the house was hilarious.

good on Pam for finally asserting herself a little bit. especially with Roy.

I assumed it was because he saw Roy throw something so he just decided to join in, like tearing up a bar was normal behavior for them.

Didn’t Roy say he had gone on a bender and gotten himself arrested the first time Pam broke up with him? It looks like he’s headed in that direction again. Jom might need a restraining order. I don’t think Roy would literally try to KILL him, but he’ll probably try to confront him somehow, or maybe trash his car or something.

I’m not sure that Karen couldn’t kick Roy’s ass, though.

At first I thought Karen was acting weird - trying to make Jim jealous? - but when she revealed the joke I thought it was brilliant. And the part where Michael and Jan are ending their fight in the car and then Dwight pops up from the back seat. Ha!

“I’m going to start being more aggressive and telling people what I want. Pammy’s gonna start getting what she wants… and that’s another thing! Don’t call me Pammy!”

Jan has some serious problems. I don’t know how she can go through such social torment during the party and then feel sorry for Micheal in the car ride home.

Creed’s fake ID business was funny. So was Roy’s brother trashing the bar when he saw Roy do it. The decision was probably based on his instincts.

What was the point of having J.J. Abram direct this episode?

I think they’re just having fun. Joss Whedon directed last week and Harold Ramis directed back around Christmas.

They’re just bringing in directors they like to mix up the show a bit.

Why did Jan drag Michael into the bathroom to have sex in the middle of the party?

My guess was that either him being an idiot gets her hot, or she just wanted him quiet and away from the “important people” for a few mins.

I missed the point of it tho, and their dialogue through the bathroom window.

Jan knows Michael’s an idiot, and she’s embarrassed to the point of mortification whenever he speaks in public, but she can’t help it; she’s powerfully, physically attracted to him.

Remember when she came to the Scranton office to tell him she wanted to start dating? She said something like, “I’ve been bottling up my self-destructive impulses for a long time, and my shrink says maybe I should try indulging them sometimes…” I think that was the point of hauling Michael off to the bathroom.

Good episode; I loved Pam getting all self-assured and assertive, to the unimaginable extent that she actually returned a beer when the bartender got her order wrong! Jim and the honcho out back shooting hoops was cool. Kevin’s freakout at being asked “When’s the date?” was brilliant; “It’s… complicated! Please do not ask me any more about this!”

I am so happy. What an outstanding episode.

New assertive Pam is going to grab Jim and run.

I didn’t like this episode much. most of the jan-michael scenes in which michael embarasses them made me cringe. I liked Karen’s joke though.

Hope not. She doesn’t deserve him. She had her chance(s).

Seriously - this was one helluva episode. The Creed scene had me in stitches. And I, for one, thought it was freaking hilarious when Roy’s brother started throwing shit. Just like “Oh? We’re smashing up the place? Ok.” All in a day’s work you know?

Man, this show just keeps getting better and better and better.

Also - I LOVE kinky Jan. Great development of that character.

Jan: I’m taking a calculated risk. What’s the upside? I overcome my nausea, fall deeply in love, babies, no more self loathing. Downside? I date Michael Scott publicly and collapse in on myself like a dying star.

What happened to Toby’s very hot GF?

Dwight is a BSG fan! Imagine him posting about the show on the SDMB. Boggles the mind… or does it? Rainn Wilson his hosting SNL this Saturday, which is going to be cool.

I think Michael is sweet. On top of all the other insane and obnoxious things he is, he is sweet. His thing with Pam last week and Jan this week convinced me of that.

In the car, Jan said she liked the part of their relationship when it was secret and forbidden and kind of naughty. Now that it was sanctioned, it just made her feel sick and horrified. There’s a difference between “Michael’s my little secret” – because honestly, dating Michael is as freaky as being a furry – and “everyone knows I’m dating Michael, who is openly freakish.” She doesn’t love him, but being with him allows her to indulge her self-destructive streak.

And damn, Roy is going to pummel Jim!

I think another angle on Jan’s feelings for Michael is that she loves how much he obviously loves her.

I thought Jan’s horny bathroom scene was just designed to make Michael say she was being inappropriate, to turn the “inappropriate” label right back on him, which she did as soon as he said it. I don’t think it was actually the lust talking.

And although Karen usually looks hot to me, last night she just didn’t look that great. Maybe it was the angles they were shooting her at or the lighting or something, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

I think in an episode or two Pam will be confronted with a crisis of conscience- assert herself to Jim about her true feelings, or keep them bottled up and go back to being timid little doormat Pam. I predict the latter.

That’s what I thought.

Wow…it’d be nice to find a girlfriend that would go to the lengths of having clandestine sex with me in the bathroom at a party just to point out that I was being inappropriate in what I was saying.

I don’t think that was what Jan had in mind at all. Does anyone really believe that Michael Scott is capable of picking up on THAT kind of subtlety? Jim, yes. Michael? Not a snowball’s chance.

I think that Jan has, for whatever reason, decided to see this thing through with Michael for as long as she possibly can. She found herself getting to the point where she was right on the verge of breaking it off with him, so she forced herself to radically change directions by dragging him into the john for a quickie.

She wasn’t going to have sex with him. She was just taking it as far as it needed to go.

My wife found me curled up in the cabinet under the kitchen sink last night whimpering to myself.

Wife: What’s wrong? Whatcha cryin for?

Me: Roy’s gonna kill Jimmy!

Wife: No he’s not…

Me: Yes he is!

Wife: No, I promise, Roy is not going to kill Jimmy.
