The Office: Karen or Pam?

Totally agree with Karen becoming more and more boring.

But she still had me at Call of Duty.

Karen?

Apparently, I need to start watching the Office again… I haven’t seen her, but by the descriptions, I’d go Karen too. Pam is too sweet and nice, a girl’s got to have sass.

I really liked Karen when she pulled the “I’ve dated every guy here” joke on Jim at the company party. That showed that she could hold her own against his sense of humor.

Gosh, though, Pam is awfully cute. I think I’d have to go for both.

Karen lost me at the scene where Jim mentioned that they’re doing a lot of talking lately, something like staying up very late 5 nights in a row to talk about their relationship. From that I get the impression that she’s sort of juvenile in how she approaches a relationship, and would drive me absolutely batshit by overthinking everything. Pam just seems so low maintenance by comparison.

Pam. Pam Pam Pam Pam Pam. Just plain Pam.

Pam

You do realize that “talking about their relationship” was a euphemism for “having hot monkey sex,” right? Jim didn’t want to be crass so he said they were up “talking” but Pam understood exactly what he meant. That’s why she went into that flustered spiel about good sleep being essential – because she didn’t like the thought of them having sex.

And I disagree about Pam being low maintenance. A person who cannot express herself clearly (e.g. “Jim, you put yourself on the line last year, and I rejected you. I was wrong.”) is about as high maintenance as you can get because you have to constantly enter her words through the Babel Fish translator tool to try and understand what she’s really saying. People like that exhaust me.

Cite? Just curious because when I watched the episode, I felt that talking about their relationship really meant a discussion. Not a euphemism. *This is because he just admitted that he used to have feelings for Pam a long time ago. When Pam comes to talk to him, I took that as Pam seeing him tired and acting friendly. Encouraging him not to stay up all night talking about his and Karen’s relationship, instead relax. But, now that I think about it, your idea seems just as viable.

Anyway, to the OP

Karen all the way.

Pam.

I wonder if we should include “state your gender” in this thread. Seems like the “Karen would be hot in the sack” is the main criteria for guys, while “Pam seems more sensitive” is for women.

YMMV

My thinking was that after Jim admitted to having feelings for Pam, Karen decided the best way to help him get over her would be to show him that he’s got a good thing with her.

To the OP: Karen.

Karen. Definitely Karen. Pam had her chance and blew it. Plus, she’s just boring.

The writers want us to be rooting for Pam. Karen is just supposed to be an excuse to keep the sexual tension of Pam and Jim going for another season. However, I think it backfired on them because Karen is so likeable.

She’s going to get more and more annoying and wrong for Jim as time goes on, which is too bad. We saw the first glimpse of this with her joking about sleeping with everyone at the office party. Jim and Pam have a deeper friendship and relationship that also involves joking around a lot. They seem to be setting Jim and Karen up as having a relationship that’s only about joking around. There’s no depth to it.

I’m still rooting for Karen, though. She’s just much more likable than Pam.

I had forgotten about the Jim/Pam conversation, I was referring to the Jim talking head interview, and I’m pretty sure his reference to “talking” meant talking. And lots of it. I think Pam misinterpreted it, and assumed wrongly that Jim and Karen were really making sweet monkey love.

Karen = good for the time being.

Pam = good for a lifetime.

Money, schmoney; more important, you’d get to meet Quincy!

I’m torn between the joke about you have to get the stick out of her butt first, and the joke about how much she obviously likes having a stick up her butt. Decisions, decisions.

I think Pam needs to go away. I’m tired of these unrequited love things in sitcoms.

Thirded. Pam is just flat-out perkier than Karen.

Pam. But I can see the allure of Karen, even if she isn’t the best candidate.

The answer is Dawn!

Karen. I think I would actually go for Jennna Fischer over Raschida Jones, but I wold take Karen over Pam. Pam is just too…mousey.

I forgot to mention Karen’s ass. She has some nice junk in that trunk. I think it got me drunk.

Karen. Pam is cute, but Karen is hot.
