I liked this one. “Horrible plooping sounds.” The disturbingly long list of employees who have had sex in the office. Jim proposing a box full of packing peanuts for their office tryst. “I’m not touching you!” Michael even took being thwarted almost like an adult. Sorta. Kinda. Well, at least he threw less of a tantrum than usual.

I was expecting a “No touching!” reference to Arrested Development to slip in there somewhere.
Yeah but I want her back on a show that has other enjoyable aspects. Why is she always hanging around the office/functions on P&R when she doesn’t work there?
Indeed. Same thing happened to Jan. I really dislike it.
With that said, this is the first episode in a long while I actually laughed out loud at–several times. Is it as good as seasons 1-3? Nope. But it was the best it’s been for some time.
Her friends and the guy she’s dating work there.
I have to admit that I liked the Darrel intro to this episode, primarily because something kind of similar happened where I work. One of our coworkers was leaving the company and another guy signed his goodbye card with “Happy Birthday!!” When he was notified, he was very embarrassed and said “I don’t know, a card comes by my desk and I sign it, I don’t read it!” Even though that guy has since been laid off, every card that comes through our department has “Happy Birthday! -Steve” written on it somewhere now.
More SPOILERS in NBC’s Promo for next week’s episode.
NBC Promo for next week. I’m worried. I thought it would be more of a “home video” style project, but it seems the people in it are willing participants. Would Karen and Angela really do a musical number for Michael’s movie? Maybe it will be explained, but it appears as though this is just like we were talking about in this thread; About people on the show acting out of character. Still, I must see this one!
In one of my previous jobs, I was very new in the organization when I heard that one of the other employees was leaving. I brightly asked her, “Oh…on to bigger and better things?” She kind of smiled and said, “Um…something like that.”
Nope. Turns out she was leaving because she was dying of cancer. :smack:
Lesson learned: always go with a polite, “Well, all the best to you!” when someone’s leaving the company.
How many of you dopers have your non-co-worker friends/lovers hang around your office on a daily basis? I sure as hell don’t…
I am so glad I avoided the spoilers and I just want to thank everyone in this thread who kindly used spoiler boxes.
I lived in a small Midwestern town of 25,000 for several years and people always had lovers, friends, spouses, children, etc., hanging around the office. Over time it was very possible to get to know your colleagues’ social groups very well and there very well might be one person in the office whose BFF was always hanging around.
I can understand! I can’t imagine what I would have thought if I wasn’t spoiled and I saw that cold open.
I was worried I spoiled too much, even for those who didn’t care about being spoiled.
We’re only seeing a half hour of their lives, one week at a time, she’s probably not really there very often, just the times she is makes the “documentary”.
A lot of her interaction with the cast comes outside of the office too - lunches with Leslies, after hours socializing, etc. I do agree that it’'s slightly awkward for the writers to keep finding ways to feature her prominently in the ensemble of what is essentially a workplace comedy when that character doesn’t work with the others, but I go along with it largely because Rashida Jones is hot.
