It was even more funny because Community had Betty White guest starring that night.
The best part of the lipsynch thing was people not going along with it, like Stanley saying “you’re falling behind” or Ryan trying to shill his website (anything on there, by the way?) or especially Angela being all I’m not doing this.
Favorite part of the night? Andy getting mad that Luke called him the Nard-man. He’s the Nard-dog, his dad’s the Nard-man!
This episode was totally packed with jokes. It felt almost as dense as Arrested Development. I must say, if people still think this is bad, and long for the heyday of the office, then I think writers of long-running shows could as well just stop even trying.
Sorry I’m a bit late to the game. I’m way behind on ALL my tv watching.
Thoughts going through my head on that opening scene:
oh god, not THIS again. Now they’re just trying to rip off The Drew Carey Show. … whoa, Pam sure spouted over the summer…let me rewind that and run it in slow mo … I felt better when BJ came in and assured us that this was a staged thing, and not just them trying to jump the shark, and I couldn’t stop laughing at Angela’s “I told you I didn’t want to be in this!!”
Changing the opening credits was weird. On the one hand, at least they aren’t showing Pam in front of the receptionist sign anymore, but what’s with Pam & Jim making out? Also, why did they take the rest of the cast back out of the credits? It still seems really wrong that BJ is still in there but Angela and Stanley aren’t. On the other hand, I LOVE the new stock footage they used for Dwight.
Anyway, the rest of the episode was average. Something looked really wrong with Erin, as if she let herself go or fell behind on sleep or something. I was totally on the Erin ship ever since she first appeared (back when she was still called Kelly), but I’m joining the Pam boat now. The one big peeve I really have with this show is when Michael (or Dwight) get so over the top that there’s no way you can realistically believe even THEY would act that way, and that’s what happened with Michael’s spanking scene.
I hope we have some more Kathy Bates, and not just on the computer. She (and her dogs) was the best part of the previous season.
Hmm, now I have one more new episode to watch. Too tired, will watch soon.
