The Pass Over MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. At least the weather is nice. Today is another day of wait and watch. That’s the best way I can think of to put this. Just knowin’ mom is comfortable and pain free is a big relief.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I need to purtify and get on with the day. Sis just left as she wanted to be at hospice when they open up at seven.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I found two errors in the taxes.
I still owe more than I expected but I can breathe a littler easier now.
i think there is something else I am missing, but I’m taking a break.
I’ll start the dishwasher and make some breakfast, and when the dishwasher is done I can start laundry.

I hate to get up because the dog and cat are sleeping and I know as soon as I get up they will start following me around. I’d rather they stay asleep and leave me alone for a bit longer. It’s a lot easier to get things done when I’m not worried about tripping over the cat and bumping into the dog.
Sometimes life is easier without the entourage.

Speaking of taxes, now that we’ve paid the stoopit amount we owed (not enough withheld last year) it’s time to build up our savings account again. It was such a loverly balance before I had to write that stoopit big check. Dammit.

You can imagine how thrilled I am when the Grand Cheeto goes to play golf again…

Good morning. Up with the Chivvying the Children to School report. 'Beamer is up and eating. He needs to leave in 10 minutes, so that is good. 'Beamette is hiding under the covers and pretending that the day has not started. She has a little longer, so this is ok, but not wonderful. Why is it that when they were little they got me up every day before sunrise, but now I have to be a drill sergeant to get them to move in the morning?

**Sunny **- Obviously, you don’t beat them nearly enough. We got a good caning every morning, and we liked it!

Where’s my Mother of the Year plaque again???

I’m about ready to scrap the whole process and start over.

It should not be this hard, all I have to do is plug in numbers into the right spaces.

The dishwasher is finished. I’m almost done my morning irk shift. I’ll throw a load of clothes in the washer and dive back into the grind.

I need to do something with the stinky litter box. I have two boxes, each with a different kind of litter and the arm and hammer kitty litter doesn’t work so well at eliminating odors. I won’t buy it again that’s for sure.

Cat finally is laying back down. He pissed me off earlier. I was sitting in the kitchen chair waiting for my food in the microwave and I was petting him. For whatever reason he got up on his hind legs and sunk his claws into my thigh. I yelled (it hurt, he drew blood) and he ran. It’s like he doesn’t get it or something.
Then again maybe he was still miffed at me for laughing at him last night. He fell off the couch again. I can’t help but laugh because he lays on a pillow, he’ll roll over and both he and the pillow will start to fall. He will start clawing at pillow, desperately trying to hang on, but since it is falling too he’ll plunk onto the floor.
You’d think he’d know better after the first few times.

For once, flytrap and I are in total agreement. Best wishes to swampy-Mom.

**Sunny, ** can’t remember my youth, but in High School I usually got up first and started breakfast then got Mom and little brother up. Maybe they’ll grow into it…

Sari, good luck with the taxes. I use Turbo Tax, don’t know if it’s perfect but it does the math for me.

Note: 10-11 year old girls are not the easiest coaching job; they like to ‘visit’ and soccer is often the 3rd or 4th most important thing at practice. maybe just as well I’ve been a life-long bachelor, have no idea how I would have survived raising kids…

In the 80’s all week here, so the A/C unit may get it’s first runs of the season.

Lunch break. I need to find a chimney cleaner. The guy we used for the last few years has apparently gone out of business. Dammit. I liked him - he did good work. But he was an older guy, so I guess it was inevitable. Dammit.

Howdy Y’all! Takin’ a little break and then goin’ back to relieve sis if she will leave for a while. She’s not wantin’ to leave durin’ the day but will at night when mom settles in for the night. I visited my uncle in the nursin’ home and then went and had a set of keys to mom’s house made for myself at sis’s insistence. Unc actually called me by my name instead of one of my brother’s right up until the end of the visit so I’m callin’ that a win.

OK, gonna go check out a couple other things on teh intartoobz and then get back. I have to stop at the sto’ for a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. Mom loves 'em so have 'em she shall.

Laterz!

{{{{{{{Swampy and Swamp Mom}}}}}}} You are a good man Bear and if there is anything I can do for you just say the word. I know you get comfort from knowing Mom is pain free and in a good place with nice peeps.

On the irk front it is mad dash time as accreditation visit is in two weeks. Thankfully, the standards have changed and instead of having my own set of standards I am now part of the larger Community Rec Program so I don’t have to prove as much. I still say a good look at the financials and patron counts should be enough. Busy work for someone somewhere to keep a job.

We have an 80% chance of rain today which I hope materializes as we have been very dry for far too long. Dusty and too much pollen in the air.

Have a good day all.

Finishing my coffee, then it’s time to brush my teeth and off to the dentist. Oh the joy. There’s a small worn patch he wants to fix, and we’re going to discuss finishing my implant. Weeeeee!

Swampy does your mom like any of those chawklit aigs from See’s Candy? I think they’ve got them this week. Might be a nice treat.

Swampy, when my Mom was in hospice, (it was a place close to Atlanta but I don’t remember the name), they let me stay in her room at night. I slept on a couch. They even had a shower for family to use. That and Jimmy John’s delivery kept me alive, if not sane, for my stay. Different places have different rules, and different insurances, I suppose, but you might ask.

First world problems dept: We have 3 vehicles. A 1988 Ford Ranger, a 1994 GMC 3/4 ton Suburban, and a 2012 Scion Xb that I bought in 2013 to replace the 12 year old Mazda that was costing me more to keep running than payments on the Scion. Wifey drives the Scion, natch. I get my choice of the suburban or the ranger. I keep them parked nose to nose in the long section of the driveway because they both have something going on that drains their respective batteries if they don’t get driven enough. (And yes, the batteries were both replaced within the last two years.)
Well, yesterday I hopped in the suburban to go to the store and it wouldn’t start. So I went and got the keys to the ford to see if it would start, and glory be, it started! So I popped the hood and then I tried to open the hood on the suburban. It wouldn’t open. Finally I pulled the hood latch out and got it to stay out and applied some gentle pressure with a spring bar and popped it open. :dubious: I let them both run for a little bit and then went on about my business.

Wifey says she will pay off the scion as soon as she gets a big enough commission check, (she’s a real estate broker), and we will trade in the suburban on something newer and more reliable.
She had a sale almost done on a $1.25 million place, but the buyer backed out over the weekend. :frowning: It was a lady who wanted ‘horse property’. I try not to be too judgemental, but in my experience, horse people are all flakey.

I don’t even want to talk about the trials and tribulations of trying to find new tires for the scion. Needless to say, the tires that came on it from the dealer are worn out already. :dubious: I spent 2 hours on line yesterday trying to get some answers, mostly from the Sears website. I get the feeling they don’t want to sell me tires.
I think I’ll just drive over to Costco and have them fix me up. They’ll cost more than sears, I think, but it’s hard to know!

**Bumba **- when **FCD **had his Crossfire, he ordered his tires on line and our car guys put them on for us. Maybe that’s an option for you?

Kinda sorta at a standstill - I had a weird problem on one drawing and rather than spend hours trying to figure it out, the boss said he’d take a look. So I’m in semi-thumb-twiddling mode for a bit. HVAC guys are here opening vents. I’m gonna be freezing. Dammit.

Happy Wednesday evening to all! The girls and the boyfriend left last night, and the rest of our guests departed at lunchtime today. We had a spot of rain today, and I think more is coming tomorrow, and that will probably be it for rain until the fall. We had a nice seder, and there’s plenty of leftover food for this week . . . mmmm. The girls, the boyfriend, and various other of their friends will all reassemble back here for the last day of Passover on Sunday night/Monday morning. We will have a total of 9 people sleeping here in a 3 bedroom apartment - luckily we have 2 air matresses and a sofa.

Swampy, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I know when my mom was in hospice, they were a huge help, not just for mom, but for me as well.

I ordered my new Coopers (Made in the USA) online and had them mounted for a little of nothing at the garage on base. I do believe I saved money going that route. Just try buying dish towels made in the USA. I bought recently some that were Pioneer Woman and was given the idea they were made in the USA but once they arrived they were made in Pakistan. I went on the Twitter and gave her my opinion.

Bumba I’ve had very good luck with CostCo tires. It should be fine to get them there.

Back from the dentist. Tooth is all filled in. Mouth hurts, but that’s to be expected. I’m to get my implant next Tuesday. I want the work done, but I’m also a little worried about having a big hole drilled in my jaw.

Burgers for dinner. Berries and such on the side.

Mom had a pretty good day today. Several visitors durin’ the mornin’ and early part of the afternoon. She got a little fidgety and anxious after that and was given some medication to help her relax. She dozed a bit but then woke up and ate her dindin. Speakin’ of dindin a local church brought food over for families. Poppyseed chikin, wild rice with lemon, green beans, rolls, iced tea and lemonade. SOOOOOOOOOO Good! I’m told this happens several times a week with different groups. What a nice thing to do!

Bumba good luck with the tires. The Hospice here allows family to stay overnight. There’s even a sofa that folds out into a bed.

Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s all around as needed.

ETA: Oh and sour cream coconut cake for dessert. YUM!

I got may hair cut and didn’t feel like making supper, so we went to Red Robin. Now we’re home and I expect most of the evening, for me anyway, will be spent on the recliner adding inches to a crocheted shawl.

Good times…

swampy, give your mama all the kisses (both kinds) she wants. And more hugs your way.

metal mouse, if you want tips on how to deal with a whole mess of preteen/teenage girls, I’ll put you in touch with my dad, who survived four. :stuck_out_tongue:

bumba, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Hankook tires are made local to me (Tennessee) if purchasing Made in the USA is important.

It is a glorious spring day outside. I’m taking enough allergy drugs to breathe, but I’ll be glad when the trees are fully leafed out.

Mom, this guy is well known for his sweeping.

Bumbazine, look at Tire Rack.
