I’m sick. Sore throat. May go to the doctor if it doesn’t get better in a few days.
Not really sure what it is - I don’t think it’s a cold because my nose isn’t involved.
Pollen season is in full swing here. My blue car is yellow every day I leave the office. ick.
Lunch was soup - it wasn’t one of my better veggie-beef soup efforts. I’m not going to use the crock pot any more - I don’t like the results. And I probably goofed by not searing the meat first. Oh well, it’s edible, so there’s that.
Much busy today. I’m so ready for 3:30.
Looks like the email from the state wasn’t a phishing attempt. The college sent an email about it and today when I went beck to the email 2 of the 3 links worked.
So that is done, I hope.
Two loads of laundry washed, one waiting to go in the dryer but I need Sah-son to clean out the lint trap for me. It’s all the way in the back and I have trouble reaching it. I can get it out, getting it back in is the problem. I need a handy man to hang it on the wall for me, along with a few other things that need to be done around here.
Morning irk shift is done, dishwasher is running, dog has been let out and in a gazillion times.
When Sah-son gets up we’ll go out with the weed whacker and do what we can with the front yard.
I still need to scoop the litter and get my pills lined up for the next week.
Then back to the dreaded taxes.
Swampy, as long as Mom is aware and alert she will certainly be happier with her things around her. They most likely won’t have someone at her house all the time but will make daily visits and be on call. You’ll want to know how far away they will be if you have to call them.
Sahirrnee, I’m curious to know what brand of lawnmower you have, if it’s okay to tell. I looked at the Consumer Reports article on lawnmowers in this last issue, but, as usual, they didn’t even test two of the brands, Ryobi and Kobalt, I was looking at. A lot of the time I get more information reading the reviews on Amazon than I get from their magazine.
Mom, I hear ya about the soup. My all time favorite soup to make, vegetarian chili verde, came out kinda flat last night. I think it’s because I put in more flour to thicken it up more. (HEY, the flour was Giada’s idea). I think Ima have to change that part of the recipe too.
Plans for the rest of the day include combing the knots out of the schnauzer’s fur for his haircut tomorrow, and more research on tires. Last week Wifey told me she wanted tire tread warranties over 70kmi. Last night she said she’d be happy with warranties of 50kmi, which translates into “those prices are too high, start over.” :dubious:
I need to make some calls, but it shall wait until after I have ingested food. Is it me, or has this week seemed very long?
Very Long Sunny
I got one pair of my new glasses. Actually the only new pair. The others’ are just new lenses in old frames. I suppose I am happy with them but they may take a bit to get used to the new script.
There is a locksmith here for most of the day working on one of our entry/exit doors and finally his boss had come to help this doofus with OJT. I know it is way past their quitting time. Come 1800 they need to be finished and I need to be able to secure the building. Not looking to irk late today. Dammit.
It just keeps getting worser and worser
Sah-son has to file this year.
He has no income but he has to claim the part of the Pell Grant that was more than his tuition and books. He is just over the limit - which sucks.
I started doing taxes at 16, so I’m sure he can handle it.
I owe the state of Md $41 plus a underpayment penalty of $3.
Really MD? $3?
I wish that is all I owe the feds.
I keep thinking something is wrong, but damn if I can find it.
Bumba I have this lawn mower
Sun Joe MJ401E Mow Joe 14-Inch 12 Amp Electric Lawn Mower With Grass Bag
It is small and cheap, but it works for us. Amazon has it on sale for $79.
He needs to call the Baha’i temple, they never called back.
**sari **- that’s weird. We had an underpayment penalty for the feds of $8 - we had to send several thousand bucks to them. But we only owed MD an additional $300-ish, and there was no penalty. I don’t understand taxes at all.
I called and made an appointment for a chimney cleaning in May, then called another place just to get a price - not only are they $80 less - the guy can come tomorrow, and he’ll not only clean the chimney, but he’ll service the blower motors in the pellet stove!! Needless to say, I’ll be cancelling the first appointment.
And we’ve got an appointment next month with our financial guy to talk about our retirement planning. I need to call the vet’s office and make an appointment for the cats. Tomorrow - I’ll call tomorrow.
**FCD **doesn’t want supper, so I’m on my own. Maybe a bowl of cereal…

I’m sorry about your friend’s husband butters.
Today was spent redoing irk that got changed yesterday and getting the log in rights to begin a new part of my job Monday. I still didn’t have them when I left.
On the home front, all of my 'mater plants now have blossoms. That means that I’ll have to pick up some cages at Lowe’s this weekend. I figure about $22 / lb by the time I harvest.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Worked, came home. Making baked fried chicken and watching hockey.
Feel better, Midget!
That’s sad, Butters.
MetalMouse, his unconcieved children thank him.
Mom slept most of the day today. She wouldn’t eat breakfast, ate a few bites at N.O.L. and ate a fair amount of supper. She was given an Atavan at around two this mornin’ so maybe that was a factor. If she has another day like today, she may remain there for a little longer. Other than that, she’ll be discharged to home hospice Sunday. The hospital bed is set to be delivered tomorrow, so tomorrow mornin’ biggest bro and I will disassemble the bed and I will await delivery sometime tomorrow afternoon. Sounds like a ton o’ fun day does it not!
{{{Midget}}} feel better soonest!
It is all about making money, as are most things.
I’m pretty sure no one understands taxes.
Swampy I’m glad your mom can come home again. I hope the arrangements keep her comfortable.
Nah – that was just a bonus brutal hour. This is more like 10. :smack: I actually don’t mind that much. One shift will be working with new hires and a lot of them English as a second language. To be frank, I’m far and away the best at training them and I really like doing it. Second thing my favorite of the managers is running both sorts Saturday. He won’t take it easy on me but ------ he is just damn good at getting our best without asking for silly levels. So all in all I can live with it and the extra hundred bucks or so. After all Knoebels opens in 15 days and I am going to do a
DIGGERLAND!!!
XL!!!
this summer.
I’ve actually talked to the Old Wench and the various cousins; no matter how I die I would like “It sounded like a good idea at the time” carved on my headstone. I have used those words soooooo many time -------------------

Off irk today and tomorrow; it’s being a bit of an interesting week, again. The boss has apparently had a big bust up with his wife and is not currently going home or talking to her, so is being even less predictable than usual. No idea if it’s going to cause problems for the business, as I’m pretty sure his wife does the payroll, as well as all the other paperirk. Pay ain’t due for two weeks, and hopefully it’ll all blow over by then, but in the meantime, everyone’s a bit on edge.
The skorchio weather has returned to more-or-less normal; thick cloud, chilly wind, but it’s very dry for this time of year, I don’t think it’s rained in two weeks. I’ll need to go water stuff at my allotment.
I love that it’s lighter in the mornings, altho with some cloud cover, it wasn’t as bright as I came in today. Still, yay for earlier sunrises!
I’ll be bailing out of here at lunch time. Some ground cover that I ordered was delivered yesterday, and I’d like to get it in the ground as soon as possible. So that’s the plan. We’ve also got the chimney cleaner coming today, I need to boil eggs, and I’ve got to launder and bag up the stuff I knitted/crocheted for delivery to AARP via my mom on Sunday. Much to be done before we head north for Easter dinner.
**swampy **- hope your mom can get home soon. Hugs to you both!
sickies, feel better!
Happy Firday, all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Had to wake up at 0300 to fling Alex Catt off the bed, since she was in hornk mode.
Ruble, Diggerlad looks like my kind of fun.
swampy, hope Mom gets to come home soon.
You know, if you go with someone, the cost can be split for just a little bit more…just sayin’.
BTW, how often do you shop at the Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Monroeville?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, brekkied, and purtified, so no YAWN. ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. for the day. Biggest bro will be here soon so we can take mom’s bed down. Then I shall dust, vacuum etc. I’m domesticated even when not at da cave. Also, I have a load of laundry in the washer. Sis’s cat, Lily, has decided to consider the possibility of toleratin’ me. I’m callin’ that a win.
