The Pony Express MMP

Mom, it’s to make up for that being the conversation for so many people who had never previously talked politics with each other.

**Butters **- this isn’t a gummint facility, so Hatch doesn’t apply. Honestly, the only remotely election-related conversation was yesterday when my office mate and I were talking about when we’d be able to vote.

One of my FB friends - and RL friend from way back - posted some glurgy religious crap about the election. I’m thinking seriously of just blocking her. Back when we used to hang out together, she never talked religion, but the last couple of years, I think she’s gone off the deep end. But I rarely see her anymore, so there’s that.

The caffeine - it does nothing!

My only words on it are…

I don’t know why anybody is surprised.

Many people get religion as they get older. Like my mother, and a whole lot of my cousins on my mother’s side. My father’s side always had religion, very Catholic, most of them don’t talk about it but a few have gone - well, I’m not sure they are still Catholic. They seem to have gotten a bit fundie.
Cool! I just got a call from the auto repair place and I won a $25 gift card!

Now I’m watching Hoarders, because it is the best house cleaning motivator I know.

Good afternoon all,

Dropping in momentarily before gearing up for work again. It’s been a long week.

It’ll be okay everyone (the election results). A president is not a dictator. Yes there will be some changes (and we’re not sure what they will be) but it’s tough to upend an entire society.

Get some rest and get back to life. It’s no good fretting over stuff you can’t control.

Tugig

After voting I left the school and went down the ramp, which is not near the curb cut, so Jazzy and me went off the curb and I fell out onto my right side, causing a fracture at the base of my artificial hip. So here I lay in the ER waiting for them to have a room available. I have to be off my feet for at least a month, maybe two. WAAAAAH!!!

Basically I will be scarce, but I’ll check in when I can.

I’ve been so anxious about the election that I haven’t read the MMP since last week, and I haven’t read past this. But I had to stop everything and let out a huge yeehaw for this! So so so so so glad for you, Rosie!

(And on preview - also boo! Wishing you your own sig, rosie.)

As for the original question - not so much a Pony Express relay, but I’m reminded of the regular cross-country food delivery that used to happen in my family. My mom’s oldest sister settled in the Pacific Northwest, and any trip between home, here in Georgia, and Aunt Linda’s involved The Special Suitcase (one of those old green hardsided American Touristers,) and a hundred pounds of regional specialties. If anyone in the family was traveling to visit Aunt Linda, The Special Suitcase was dragged out, and packed with real grits, and biscuit flour, and country hams, and the nooks and crannies were filled with sweet potatoes and pecans and such. On the return trip, The Suitcase would be crammed with smoked salmon and (not our) filberts and home canned cherries and Almond Roca. These days, most of those foodstuffs are as close as the farmers market or Amazon Prime, but back in the seventies and eighties, they were either unavailable or too dear to buy. (And airlines didn’t charge the price of an extra seat for the hundred-pound bag!)

Moooom, if you don’t actually dislike your friend, only her religious/political glurge, you can unfollow her. As long as you allow, she can still respond to anything that you post and you can check her page, you just don’t see her posts on your feed. I had to do that with a cousin, who is a good person, but newly retired and a prolific reposter of obituaries of people that I don’t know, type “Amen” crap and “see how many likes this [insert cute puppy or pathetic child] gets” that it filled my feed and I wasn’t seeing things that I actually wanted to see. Most of the family has done the same.

I was up until the last hurrah watching the election coverage. I was nauseated. Sure, I wanted it the hell over and wasn’t thrilled about the two candidates, but dammit! the results sucked.

I went to the PCP’s office this morning to have a small cyst removed (you don’t want to known where  ), ran through Tar-jay/CVS for the antibiotics and epsom salts and through the Pollo Tropical drive thru for a mojo pork bowl. Now, I’m kicking back on the patio, soaking up the afternoon sun.

**Red **- I’ve already unfollowed her for various glurgy reasons. It’s helped my sanity.

I ended up working a full day, and I’ve got the meatloaf in the oven. In a little bit, I’ll put some broccoli in the steamer and cook up some corn. I don’t expect to be awake after 7.

We et an early dindin. The brisket was so tender and juicy it just melted in my mouth! YUM! Plus, leftovers for tomorrow! Win-Win!

{{{rosie}}} hope you’re all better soonest! Ouchie!

I shall betake myself to Evening Prayer tonight. Just seems like the thing to do plus I always enjoy EP. OYKW may or may not, most likely not, go. He looks all tahrd poor thing!

Rosie Oh noes! I hope it gets fixed up and you can start healing soon. {{{Hugs}}}

Now, I kind of do. :smack: I’ll just imagine.

I, too, stayed up very late waiting for the results. I turned off the TV before someone’s victory speech, and spent an hour decompressing with my Kindle.

I sent my son to school with the instructions not to get in any fights over the election. We’re planning on going to yummy Italian place for dinner. Other than that, this has been a complete hide in the dark day. Very sunny outside, and stayed up late, both bad for my migraine.

I think I should name my migraine. (Damnit - I need to get more sleep.) Working with that wacky thought, though, what should I name it? It’s here all the time, it keeps me in the dark, it limits my activities, it’s obivously less than fun. Clearly it needs a humanizing nickname. Vlad (Dracula)? Lucifer? Bob?

Donald.

Howdy Y’all! Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. Mother Galen gave a great Homily on healing. 'Twas nice as usual.

Now I shall surf teh intartoobz for a bit and then go sleepy bye. OYKW is abed and snoozin’ away. He really was tahrd, poor baby.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Just like college kids at the end of the semester, it’s called cramming for finals!

See, proof.

so it’s an artificial break?

Cute.

Monster! :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t know how good the link is or if you want to watch the whole thing but someone you know is about 15 minutes in.

Survived work. I’ll have to work tomorrow, but that means I have to take off Saturday. Did I mention the hockey tailgate, and a certain lady will be there?

A pain in the haid? How about perpetual headache. ph for short. I am blessed I have never suffered from migraines. I can empathize a bit from knowing many sufferers. My Mama called them sick headaches.

Who?

Ok all caught up now. The market crash did not happen…yet. I am feeling hopeful. Thank you Swampy for praying for healing. We need it and the MSM fanning the flames re protests ain’t helping any unity.

Irked all day and irking tomorrow but Three Day Weekend!!!11111
