The Prize Inside - an introspective MMP

You can do eet, rosie! You can do eet!

I’ve fallen off the calorie counting wagon, myself. I’m starting to be able to do rough estimates of what I eat, but because I have little time to eat, little quickly-preparable food, and I’m running around so much at work, I’m still losing weight. It’s not the most healthy way, though. Need to work on that.

WOOT LILI!

Welcome, Pandamom. Pull up a chair, put your feet up. We’s cool down hyar.

From the previous MMP:

ryl . livejournal. com on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Check out the one about the Baptismzilla from last Thursday. It was prime.

I’ve been enjoying my weekend. Yesterday Irish Brother and I got some new stain for the underpinnings and painted all of them and half of the back wall. I’m going to get started on the front of the house sometime today after I go downtown to the hippie pizza parlor that everyone else has been to but me.

In Cute Coworker news, Irish Brother and Moody Friend both say he’s definitely flirting. Apparently certain questions were asked concerning my relationship with Moody Friend when CC was shanghaied into working at MF’s hotel the other night.

Good on ya Rosie! I’m rooting here for you.

Working from the kitchen table today, having a cat rub against my legs. Our district network is down for at least a few hours, and I need to have access to the state BOE website to work today, so here I am.

Good morning all, up and caffeinated and at work this morning.

Rosie, what a great OP; you’re courageous to share something so personal, imho, and I can so totally relate. You’re further along the journey than I am, currently; I seem to be taking very tiny steps lately. Your post shall serve to inspire me, though, to do the best I can. And good luck yourself–congrats on having to tighten that drawstring twice already!

Congratulations on the new house, LiLi and -definitely- sending “sticky” thoughts your way. Stash tea makes a lemon-ginger tea that is very stomach soothing, btw. Just in case!

Taxi, sounds like you had a good weekend, even in KeithT’s absence! LOL

Well, I’m munching on some blueberries (heh, better than m&ms … I think. LOL) and drinking some Stash chai spice tea. Sweet! Enjoy your week, all!

Puggy I had dsl issues last week. Five days and two modems later, I got back online. ATT DSL and I are not bffs right now, to say the least.

Thanks for the linky Spaz. Off to Agony Aunt Ryl land and then a nappy poo.

Puggy, it sounds like you ended up in a “hot yoga” class (sometimes labelled as “Bikram” or “Moksha”). Not my cup of tea… if I wanted to sweat like a pig while exercising, I’d just stick to jogging in mid-summer - at least that’s free.

Lunch today is leftovers from last night’s dinner extravaganza. It was totally Teh Nom, especially the tart… even the two year old gobbled up everything and asked for more.

And speaking of two-year-olds… can I just say that there is no better form of birth control than inviting over friends who have an overactive, very enthusiastic child who grabs everything within reach. Sure, he’s bright, loveable and too cute for words, but I’d probably end up in a straightjacket if he was mine (or maybe he’d end up in one, because at least he’d be forced to stand still for more than a minute).

And speaking of inviting over friends with overactive two-year old boys… you’ll have to come over sometime once you’re done with the move, LiLi.

Way to go, rosie, and may you walk the rest of the way well.

Sticky thoughts for LiLi’s little package.

PandaMom, love the name.

After a scare related to finances and taxes, I seem to be on track to go to Uni. For now, leaving tomorrow on “vacation.” The plan isn’t quite the same as when we planned it: back then, the idea was to go to Vigo by train and rent a car as needed, but given the state of my finances the car has been axed; somehow, “ten days in Vigo” isn’t quite the same as “five days in Córdoba, four in Barcelona, four in Pamplona, ten in Vigo,” you know? I wanted to cancel altogether. Mom’s paying for it, in theory. We’ll see. I imagine she intends to borrow (from me) and pay me back (when she dies) but that means she’ll have a problem, as I intend to veto anything more expensive than ice cream cones.

Go Rosie! Go Rosie! Go Rosie! Go Rosie!

Sticky…sticky…sticky…sticky…sticky thoughts LiLi

24 days til I see the hubby!

I do believe it was Bikram and you ain’t joshin’!

Sticky thoughts going out to li-li’s lil bit!

Thanks, everyone.

Oof. Just woke up from an unexpectedly heavy nap. I’m all groggy. And trying to resist eating the rest of the Irish cheddar with caramelized onions I bought at the Fancy Cheese Shop.

Hm. Should I make chocolate gingerbread after we do the dishes? (Attacks Husband is off for the week, theoretically job-hunting, and actually vacuuming and then napping.)

Ooooooh, chocolate gingerbread sounds good. I think I should make some too.

At the moment, though, I really want some animal crackers. Why are they at home and I’m at work??

Follow-up question on the chocolate gingerbread: **LiLi **have you ever put crystallized ginger in it? I haven’t and I’m not sure if it’d be weird in the nice, fluffy cake to suddenly have chunks of ginger. But I do loves me some crystallized ginger!

Well, now I want fancy cheddar with carmelized onions. That sounds wondermuss! Congrats, Lissla! You have a ways to go before you cath up with what’s-her-name Dugger.

Rosie - Good for you for making a plan and sticking to it.

My big toe has now hurt for a year. Surgery didn’t do much good, except to leave me with one less bone than I came into this world with. I see the surgeon again tomorrow.

And my congestive heart failure dog,who has been very picky for the last few months, has barely eaten in the last two days. But on the positive side, she’s still come outside with me, and wagging her little doberman stump and seems to feel okay. I’m going to give her another couple days to see if the appetite picks back up.

StG

We just et us an early supper. I’s stuffded! There’s peach cobbler to be had but it will have to wait.

To quote ol’ y’all know who…

If the good Lord knows anything better to eat, he’s kept it for himself.

He also said it reminded him of goin’ to granny’s house for Sunday dinner after church.

High praise indeed!

taxi I like crystalized ginger too. I wouldn’t think it’d be a bad thing in chocolate gingerbread.

Back in the hotel room after a day spent at the Boston Lighthouse. I’m pooped, and that’s not counting Teh Sick. I feel just better enough that I’m not going in search of a Doc-in-the-Box.

Popsicles and Chloraseptic for now…

Is there an MMP slot open? I took lots of pictures with my cell phone.

taxi, I’ve tried adding crystallized ginger bits to the Lesbian Chocolate Gingerbread recipe, and I wasn’t too happy with the results (though LiLi may have a different experience). The ginger sank to the bottom instead of staying nicely distributed throughout, and it made the bottom half strangely doughy and heavy. Yech. I’m sticking with the original recipe from now on.

LiLi, where did you get the cheddar? It sounds divine. I must have some.

Yay for still being on track for uni, Nava! That’s great news!

Finally sprung myself free from today’s all day meeting marathon. Time to head home… there’s a bottle of Malbec in the fridge that’s calling my name.

Home at last - whew, what a day!! Daughter picked up a couple of pizzas, so supper was easy. **FCD **was told today not to bother coming back to his old job, so he’s off till the new one starts on 8/3. Lucky duck… I may take Firday afternoon off, just because I can. We shall see.

**LiLi **- yay on all your good news!!

Bobbio, I’m all for you taking next week’s MMP - is that authorization enough?

It’s pouring down rain right now, which is great - we really needed a good shower. My lawn was getting crunchy in spots. So yay! And Monday is almost done, so Yay again! And welcome, PandaMom! Stay and play!

Oglibraturry drnuken post.

I had a pint of Guinness with dinner, and it worked better than Chloraseptic on my sore throat. Probably the pain is the same, and I just don’t give a damn…

Plus, Guiness goes down smoother than popsicles.

All in favor of BBBobbio takin’ next week’s or whenever the next slot is, say “Aye”.

AYE!!!

All those opposed [del]shutup and sit down[/del] say “Nay”.

::crickets::

The “Ayes” have it. Bobbio shall be our host with the most for the next available MMP.

Ain’t y’all glad the MMP is a democracy?

Just sticking my head in to say hello! It’s a beautiful sunny day, so I am going out to play in the flowers!

took a nap - seriously weird dreamage. A friend of mine was helping another friend clear out some stuff from 2nd friend’s attic - Then 1st friend said he felt a ghostly presence. “You must be dreaming” said I. “Then why is this so familiar?” “Because we did this in real life just yesterday” (which, IRL, is not true). Then I was in a garage with an odd remote that was a cross between a heavy duty joy stick (circa 1970s Apollo missions) and a TV remote. I pushed the buttons for a bright blue GTO, and presto - I was in the driver’s seat. The rest of the weirdness is fading quickly - but those were the salient points.
No, I’m all out of the good stuff, you can’t have any.
