Circus Peanuts are what happens to Necco Wafers when they get stale and damp.
I like Necco Wafers, they make me feel old timey.
I eat it all the time. Fruitcake is yummy. Granted, I’ve never had any in America, maybe it’s particularly heinous there, hence the meme.
Are you positing that anything seasonal must be ‘not good’? That seems a stretch. Hot Buttered Rum is delicious, but I wouldn’t want it in the summer.
Can you point us to a typical fruitcake recipe from your area that you’d recommend?
This would be typical, although it does not include my usual step of soaking all the dried fruit in brandy overnight, or mixed peel as an additional ingredient.

Oh, no, you’ve got to have dates. And mixed peel. Mixed peel is the bomb. And booze.
Maybe decorated with some Peeps and Necco wafers, too (after enough booze).

I’m not ashamed to admit I love Peeps, and will miss them at the upcoming holidays. If they kept well, and I had known about this, I’d have stocked up at Easter.
