Do so! There’s… there’s… well, I’m sure there’s SOMEBODY! I’ve actually had a few bartenders NOT look at me funny when I’ve ordered it!
Look, it’s rum and coke, or vodka and tonic. Seriously.
At a restaurant I used to work at, there was this woman who came in almost every day and order vodka and 7-Up, and we all thought that was weird. I can’t imagine what would have happened if you’d shown up and ordered a vodka and coke.
It’s just not canonical. Sorry.
I thought you liked variety.
Well, of course I do, but there’s variety and then there’s variety.
As I often say, try it. You might find you like it.
I won’t be drinking anything alcoholic, of course, as I am underage. But I’ll have what TruePisces is having, hold the vodka.
And Shirley Temples! I love shirley temples!
…and Sue Duhnym’s, and Soda’s, and Lucretia’s, and…
Whew, getting a little warm in here.
Pass me that fan when you’re done, **Geobabe. **
Whew is right!
Fan?
You haven’t covered yourself in ice yet?
She did, but it melted already.
… So Anyway, where the heck is Bill with his page updates? I can’t remember what the heck the schedule is!
OK, I’m in.
Many of you probably won’t even recognize me, as I haven’t been posting here for the past few months, but I, of course, know you… (insert evil, maniacal laughter here)
Of course, my decision has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the attendance of gams and boobs.
No, really.
Why are you laughing? Stop that.
So, out-of-towners, who’s staying where?
Three hotels have been mentioned in this thread: the Olcott, the Wolcott, and the Red Roof Inn. Also, Maeglin’s House of Pain[sup]TM[/sup] has been prominently featured.
Scanning the thread, I see that Geobabe, UncleBill, Demo, and psycat90 are staying at the Olcott, on West 72nd, up near Billdo’s place.
LindyHopper (and others, IIRC, but I can’t recall who) are staying at the Wolcott, just off 5th Avenue on 31st Street. And a whole bunch of us, I know, are staying at the Red Roof, just off 5th Avenu on 32nd, including Verrain, TruePisces, Zappo, and myself. (I know there’s other MADs staying there because they told me, just last Saturday night, but my aging brain cells seem to have let slip just who they were. A little help, friends? :))
Last time I checked, the guest list at the House of Pain included Hastur, Mnementh, scott evil, Daerlyn, Jessica2, and possibly Wisest Novel. We’ll take a head count on Sunday to ascertain that all of them make it out alive.
That leaves a great many out-of-towners unaccounted for. So where’s everybody crashing?
I’ve been know to enjoy a bottle of vodka with a bottle of Dr. Pepper every now and then, but Coke? EEEEWWWWW
RT, Lindy will be in communicado until right before the Fest - some out-of-town business, I believe. But Acrylic Vessel and I will be staying with him at the Wolcott.
By the way, very good idea here. Good way toget everyone’s positions and possible travel problems/times on the plate.
OK, so I think I’ll drive to Poughkippsie and get the train from there, if it’s only $18 (is that round trip?) Hopefully I can park it at the station for the weekend.
Hey, I just realized something. I might be able to drive racinchikki to the train station. Where are you lcated again? If it’s not too far I’ll be glad to come and snag you.
Does it make any sense for a frequent (several times a day) visitor of the Board but infrequent poster (less than 20?) to show up at this event since everyone seems to know each other so well? I live in Manhattan and it would definitely be great to meet some of the intelligent, witty people. On the other hand, if everyone knows eachother, I wouldn’t want to intrude on a reunion of sorts.
???
I don’t know. I had plans to stay with a non-doper friend which fell through. So, if anyone has space on a floor or anything they’d be willing to share, that would be awesome! (yes, I know this is rather late in the game to be asking).
Morrison, you are most definitely welcome!
I’ve only met maybe 4 or 5 of the other people who are going to be there. There’s a first time for everything. From what I gather, and my experience from other, smaller dopefests, there is no such thing as intruding. Come and enjoy the festivities.
Morrison - newbies are always welcome - come join the party!
