:bump: it was falling off the first 50; and I can’t wait for the reviews!!
Dave, I will not be chastized for something I barely remember typing. So F’neh!
Also, Persephone, I’m getting very excited as well.
It’s not the hands that are important. Not where The Shirt[sup]TM[/sup] is concerned.
I just got my tickets to NY. I’ll be in town from Dec 23-Jan 6, so I expect to be able to attend at least some of the events.
Well, yeah. But “Hopefully The Shirt[sup]TM[/sup] will find its way onto the torso…” just didn’t sound right.
I’m still looking for a place on someone’s floor. I know I can be a little wild but, surely there’s someone who could put up with some me for a night or so. (Sleeping on a park bench on my birthday would suck troll toes)
I will be looking at The Shirt[sup]TM[/sup] and the accompanying torso, not listening to it.
You, however, are free to experience The Shirt[sup]TM[/sup] in whichever way you deem appropriate.
Oh, and how’s Charlotte? Give her my regards and a scratch behind the ears for me, willya?
Hey, any friendly New York Type Dopers know of a listing of hotels in the general vicinity of this shindig that don’t cost $50000 a night? Given that this bizarro thingy where you meet up with people you know from the in-ter-net is a month away, I figure the better rapport I get with the hotel fizzy and I are staying at, the more likely they are to care if one of you axe murderers kills me in my room:)
Actually, 'pun, I’m staying at the Wolcott Hotel, which is not expensive (for NYC, that is); I got a room for about $80 a night. It’s at 31st between 5th and 6th, so it’s not too far from anything (except Billdo’s fabulous Bagel Brunch), so give it a look. It seems to be real nice; queen-sized beds and everything.
If I could get a ride I would be etternally grateful. I, for the most part, live in Troy (ten minutes north of Albany…I’m on the way.)
However, I may have to downgrade to a pencil. I will be home over christmas break (in VT) and will have to drive down to Troy, and then get poickd up. I’ll probably be able to do it, but just in case no one get their hopes up.
Also, since I am a broke college student, a crash place would be great, but if not, I can probably find a cheap hotel, maybe that Wolcott place.
Lindy-love, when we were looking into the hotels, we were quoted $120/night. So it’s possible the Wolcott has gone up. We’re staying at the Red Roof, which is just a block from the Wolcott, and is $90/night. Either way, works out nice.
bouv, depending on where in VT you may be I could give you a ride (I’ll be coming down from Burlington). I had a few seats open up in my car.
If you need a ride, you’ve got it. Just me know.

Ideas we’re working on for Saturday include museums, art in the subways, and dim sum. We’ll likely have an expedition to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan for the pre-Dopers.

Put me in the “I’m. So. There.” camp.
Oh, LaurAnge will be there if I have to drag her out of her bed.
I’m driving in with myself and six passengers, from Toronto to Ottawa (for Elenfair), and then to Montreal for Daerlyn, LaurAnge and her Scott, matt_mcl, and Hastur, and then off to NY. I call us the Canadian Contingient! Because I’m weird like that.
As for me, well, I’ll be getting smashed at Maeglin’s and then following people around to various activities. I can’t wait!
The one in Manhattan (as opposed to manhattan), yes? That looks pretty reasonable (and we could stay up all night and gab. I’m getting geeked about this. Oh yes, I am).
Mnem, not if I get there first. And hey, Canadian Contingent is better than Team Discovery Channel.
Too bad Laur and I aren’t legal yet down south. Mnem, remember to bring some booze to Casa Maeglin!
Yeah, I’m not exactly sure how I got on the maybe list. New & Improved Scott and I will definitely be there. With bells on! OKay, not really. But definitely with clothes on.
Well, I did get my rate as part of an airfare-and-hotel package, so that may account for the price difference. Or it may have gone up.
