Basedon Tracy Lord’s post here (and assuming it’s serious ), what can we put together for a variety show?
Tracy Lord-- violin
Sampiro-- piano
SurrenderDorothy-- mad ballet skillz
gigi – a deadpan Stephen-Wright-type routine (or a theatrical dead faint from stage fright)
Whatcha got to add to the mix? Can we get a whole orchestra together? How about a dance troupe like in *Step Up * (one more day, squee!) which combines all types of dance and music?
I’m a mediocre singer and a terrible dancer (not only do I have two left feet, but they seem to be connected to different nervous systems). I don’t play an instrument. I used to be a pretty damn good character actor, but that doesn’t seem to be the focus here.
OTOH, I have a lot of experience in lighting design. Hast need of craft such as mine?
I guess I should say what my qualifications are! Hmm…10 years of professional Kathak dance, 12 of folk dance, ability to memorize a song after 3-4 repititions, ability to dance to anything. Oh and a really bad singing voice.
All you people who have no talent, as Otto says, we need lighting crew as well as drivers, etc. So join up! Behind-the-scenes people are just as vital.
I am a professional theatre technician. I can whip you us a snazzy set and make cook effects happen. If I drag my boyfriend into this he has his pyro license.
I can play ten instruments to varying degrees. However, I only own one personally: A flute that really needs to be tuned.
However: I’m a professional stagehand (IATSE Local 363) as is my boyfriend. I don’t have a specialty, but he’s a rigger, which can always come in handy. He can also do sound and lighting. I’m more of a carpenter, myself.
Oh, yeah, I’m good at PR, too. I work in media when I’m not doing stagecraft.
I sing operatic bass-baritone, specializing in the collaborations of Gilbert & Sullivan. Any time you need a Pirate King, Dick Deadeye, Ko-Ko, Lord Chancellor, Giuseppi, or Grosvenor, I’m your man!
