The SDMB Travelling Theatre Troupe

Basedon Tracy Lord’s post here (and assuming it’s serious  ), what can we put together for a variety show?

Tracy Lord-- violin
Sampiro-- piano
SurrenderDorothy-- mad ballet skillz
gigi – a deadpan Stephen-Wright-type routine (or a theatrical dead faint from stage fright)

Whatcha got to add to the mix? Can we get a whole orchestra together? How about a dance troupe like in *Step Up * (one more day, squee!) which combines all types of dance and music?

Can I be part of the dance troupe?

I have mad tap-dancing skilz.

Sorry, but don’t look at me. I have the same musical skills as a broken radio.

OOOH!

Fifteen years of theatre and improv.

I can be part of an improv troupe.

I can also walk on a barrel.

Can I play too?

Hm, I’ve got mad piano skillz; maybe Sampiro and I could do some dueling piano stuff.

Or, I can also do arrangements and orchestrations.

Or, I’m a pretty decent band leader/conductor as well.

I also have a whole four months of tap experience, go me!

Ooo, I’m picturing something like the Fabulous SDMB Boys, with someone sexy writhing on top the pianos singing “Making Whoopee”. Any takers?

I’m a mediocre singer and a terrible dancer (not only do I have two left feet, but they seem to be connected to different nervous systems). I don’t play an instrument. I used to be a pretty damn good character actor, but that doesn’t seem to be the focus here.

OTOH, I have a lot of experience in lighting design. Hast need of craft such as mine?

I have formal acting training, a theatrical degree, and a twenty-year resume ranging from classical plays to modern musicals.

So if you’ve got an opening for “insufferable diva,” I’d like to apply.

I guess I should say what my qualifications are! Hmm…10 years of professional Kathak dance, 12 of folk dance, ability to memorize a song after 3-4 repititions, ability to dance to anything. Oh and a really bad singing voice.

All you people who have no talent, as Otto says, we need lighting crew as well as drivers, etc. So join up! Behind-the-scenes people are just as vital.

I also have a degree in theatre/acting. I’m also a singer, improvisor, and I do stand-up, too! Sign me up!

I got the ukulele parts down! And I can sing and emcee as well.

I am a professional theatre technician. I can whip you us a snazzy set and make cook effects happen. If I drag my boyfriend into this he has his pyro license.

Ooh! Can the finale be that whimsical “Over the Rainbow” version?? Send em out crying.

Oh my goodness apparently I can’t preview.

That is whip us up and snazzy set and make cool effects. :smack:

I can play ten instruments to varying degrees. However, I only own one personally: A flute that really needs to be tuned.

However: I’m a professional stagehand (IATSE Local 363) as is my boyfriend. I don’t have a specialty, but he’s a rigger, which can always come in handy. He can also do sound and lighting. I’m more of a carpenter, myself.

Oh, yeah, I’m good at PR, too. I work in media when I’m not doing stagecraft.

I’ll be one of those slinky lounge singers with a dress cut down to here

I’m a fat lady. And I sing.

Nuff Said.

Lola??

I sing operatic bass-baritone, specializing in the collaborations of Gilbert & Sullivan. Any time you need a Pirate King, Dick Deadeye, Ko-Ko, Lord Chancellor, Giuseppi, or Grosvenor, I’m your man!
