Sorry about the car woes Juliet. george, while John T’s is a road favorite when we ride that way, my friend and I will likely go to the other side of the mountain where he lives and hit Jim’s Smokehouse. https://thesmokehouse.com/ Either way, it’s good 'que.
doggio, don’t knock pineapple on any part of a pig until you’ve tried it.
Fixing to hit the road in a minute. I’m just putting Nelson’s bag together to take to Camp Bow Wow for the day.
Oh boy. Neighbours hammering and banging around. It kind of feels like I have a headache, even though I don’t.
On the bright side, my radio alarm clock decided to do that thing where it sets itself ahead an hour. So I thought I was waking up really late, but I was only waking up sort of late. I gained an hour I didn’t know I had! Now how not to waste it…
Have you seen that meme about the introvert that makes plans and then the day of the event totally wishes they could just stay home? (Or something like that) Well, that’s my day today!
I wish I could stay home. Might go out for a bit to get away from the banging. I’m currently playing dance music in my headphones at 11 AM to try to distract myself from the vibrations.
The house has been vacuumed, including the kids’ space in the basement. My last load is in the washer. I’ve downloaded some info about Medicare - I’d rather read it on paper than on a screen.
I miss good BBQ out here in the wilds of Orygun. We do have Busters 'texas style BBQ, which is pretty good, but I’m more partial to a wee bit o’ vinegar in my sauce.
I was stationed in Memphis for almost a year and developed a taste for that style.
I ain’t moving back east for it though.
Spidey’s post got me to thinking about the hot air balloons we used to see around here, but not a lot at one time. I would usually see 2 or 3 early in the mornings though. I did see one last month when the dogs wanted to go out early one morning but we just don’t see them as much any more. There is a somewhat middlin-sized festival up the road a bit in the summer. I just checked and they’re still doing that, but I think it’s waning in popularity, at least hereabouts.
Wifey has gone off to draw pictures of nekkie people. She usually goes to ‘life drawing’ class on Thursday nights, but had something else going on last Thorsday so signed up for Sat. morning instead, leaving me to my own devices again.
I like it better when she goes on Thurs nights 'cause then I go over to the pistol range for an hour or so. It’s a private club indoor range and we shoot from 6:30 - 9:00 in the evenings. I can only stand at the shooting bench for an hour or so before my back starts to lock up though so I’m usually home by 8:00.
I just know you wanted to know that.
Anyway, I was trying to be nice, but fine, don’t go play with bloons then, see if I care.
We don’t seem to get any hot air balloons round here, I’ve not seen one since I moved. I think I used to be on a migration route or something 'cos every calm sunny day there’d be at least a few going over, plus the fiesta.
We did Bad Chinese for lunch - it wasn’t too horrible, but the price has gone up - like everything else. **FCD **is napping and I started a pot of veggie-beef soup - the beef and 'maters are going to simmer in broth for a while, then I’ll add onions, celery, and some carrots. About an hour before it’s done, I’ll toss in N.O.T. chunks and a bag of mixed veggies. Dunno if we’ll eat it today or tomorrow or both.
SIL vacuumed their room downstairs - holy crap, did he suck up a lot of hair!! Then again, we 3 cats in full-time residence, the occasional dog and humans, there will be hair. Or fur. And dust. And crud. But it’s marginally de-crudded for now, so yay!
Left about 7:30am and got home around 4PM. In between I coached three games (a win, a tie and a loss), got three teams pictures taken, drove 25 miles to get to my girl’s game to find that they had no referee, so I had to do the referee chores. Oh, did I mention it got to 91F today?
Going to take a long bath and nap once I get more fluids into my body. Tired I am.
I’ll try to reply to all the interesting stuff I’ve read later tonight.
Howdy Y’all! Been both a productive and slothful day. We funeralized (Sunny, the funeral was for my friend Sammie), went to :eek:Wally Jr., had N.O.L. at the little bar down the road, achieved nappage, and I have made a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea, and a corn casserole is bakin’ away as I post.
Sunny we call it brunch but it’s really N.O.L. Although one could get away with it on Sunday cause, as I recall, anything betwixt 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday can be called brunch.
Tomorrow is also the blessin’ of the animals and the blessin’/dedication of the doggie park. That shall take place at four tomorrow afternoon. Should be fun. Human and animal refreshments will be served, although I have no idea what one would serve a pet snake as refreshment. Mice on toast points perhaps?
A damp and dreary day. I got chilled at the barn, so put on sweats when I got home. Ursala Kitteh and I took a 3 hour nap. Dinner is steak and mushrooms, which I am eating while watching Hoarders. Not a good mix.
george, should we ever have a middle Tennessee mumpfest, Jim’s may be the place to meet. It’s about the same distance from you as me, and, I think, metal mouse. I recommend the pork ribs, turnip greens and fried apples with cornbread. My friend got mac and cheese instead of turnip greens and a taste revealed it to be righteous.
Our ride was good and Nelson had a good day at doggy day care. He got to play with a couple of other dogs in the play area, so it was a treat for him. The only rain was while Don adn I were eating lunch, so I didn’t have to break out the rain suit.
I called Dad to wish him a happy birthday. He’s 81 today and still kicking. <3
you know its getting depressing out there …… went to the store and heard two older American American men (about 60 or so )(discussing the supreme court and politics and one of them espoused the belief that the only way things were going change for the better was a assassination or two ………
