Thus beginneth my weekend.
I got the car washed, bought new wipers, did laundry, and bought a few other things I needed. As I was driving home, the car swerved into a parking lot ,and the engine cut off. Since it was the Lynnwood Grill parking lot, I went in for a pint.
Watching hockey.![]()
swampy, Miss Sammie sounds like my kind of people. My condolences on her passing.
Moooom, I tried Costco after going many years without belonging to a warehouse club. While I liked some of the products, like metal mouse, it was just too much for a single person. Back in the day with a family at home and two smokers, we went to Sam’s for bulk buys and cigs. It was worth the cost of the membership in that case.
Summer poked its head in the door yesterday and said “I’m baaaaaaaack!” Ninety one freakin degrees on 05 Oct and, because of the recent deluge of rain, skeeters that have numbers under their wings. I took Nelson to the dog park this afternoon and got eaten up. They didn’t bother him, as his flea treatment also repels mosquitos. If I sit out on the patio this evening, the citronella torches will be burning.
Tomorrow, I plan to go out on the bike.
I am in shape to swing a leg over (have been for a couple of weeks, but…rain) and TWPTB aren’t calling for rain. I’m thinking a cruise through Coffee and Grundy counties where the hills become mountains. I’ll likely stop a spell in Altemont to see a friend before heading home.
Soccer practice has been completed and lineups for tomorrow’s games are done (of course, somebody won’t show up and I’ll have to redo them all on the fly…). Belly is full and sleepy time will be early as tomorrow will be busy.
doggio, funny how cars do that. And One Pint?? I am skeptical.
{{Midget}}. Hard to catch a break.
Red, my old lightweight jacket (had is for decades, it’s one of those pieces of clothing that just fits) is wondering when I will finally need him. 86F today, about the same tomorrow.
Juliet, Ouch! Cars can be a pain in the wallet at times.
FCM, Hope this wasn’t baby engineer, or things might get a bit tense…but always did love when bosses gave me an assignment with vague instructions and then raked me over the coals because I wasn’t a mind-reader…
And assorted hugs and/or tears where called for.
See you all tomorrow (if I survive).
MetalMouse - no, it wasn’t my cellmate. I’d have to kick his butt!!
Stoopit spell check changed cellmate to celibate! Twice!! I hates spellcheck, I does!!!
Red, if you’re going to Altamont and are partial to pretty decent-to-excellent barbecue, another 35 miles or so might be enjoyable.
TN-50 and US-64 will get you to Winchester through some nice hilly country. On the town square there is a place called John T’s BBQ (http://www.johntbbq.com/Home_Page.php). I strongly recommend the place.
Pineapple on 'que?:dubious:
Just one beer.![]()
my uncle had it timed in his old hometown on how much gas it took from him to get to home work and his favorite dive …… and many times put in exactly that to where he would run out in the parking lot …… pissed off his significant others to no end over the years …… I realized how he did it when I was about 9 and I was with him …… they didn’t mind kids coming in and I could be had with promises of video game tokens and a really big cheeseburger and ice cream …….

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work. For a very long day.
Doggio my condolences. Early days are the worst.
Up, not caffeinated, sheveled. Off for flight, then irk, then race, then (maybe) some shooting (if not sleeping)…all on 4+ hrs sleep. Very long day indeed.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 94 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The agenda today calls for funeralizin’, a trip to :eek:Wally Jr., and makin’ a corn casserole and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea to take over to the church house tomorrow. Tomorrow is brunch Sunday. I have ush duty as well. Rah.
Juliet sorry for the car woes. Hope you had a somewhat restful night.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for funeralizin’ must commence at some point.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Correction: Up, not caffeinated, no longer as sheveled, no flight. Can’t even take advantage of early up for sunrise shots as it’s s’posed to be cloudy. Twas also cloudy last night, making Paradise not so much so. ![]()
One more thing; Fiesta starts in a few hrs.
Since this is a Chicago based board, somewhere starting around 8:30 - 9am CDT (for an hour or two), use the majik thinkin’ box to make googly eyes at (I Knew I Shoulda Taken That Left Turn At) Alberqueque TV. All of the TV stations there have live feeds to Fiesta (or just click here. Today, tomorrer, both days & youse can see why I likes to get up so early.
So what you’re saying is that you’re in Albuquerque? Nice. Sorry about the clouds. Perhaps you can return to bed for a bit.
Swampy why are you funeralizin’? Did I miss that? Brunch tomorrow sounds eminently civilized. I approve.
I’m going to try to get some sleep. I et something that disagreed with me. I hope things have quieted down enough for a few peaceful hours. Night all.
My day is well underway. **FCD **got up early since he has some fiberglass work to do. While he showered, I tended to the critters, then I showered, and we headed out for a McBreakfast. We got back a little bit ago. I’ve started laundry and he’s started whatever he’s doing.
My plans for today include polishing the countertops (I really hate the granite - I wish I hadn’t let *someone *talk me into it) and pushing the vacuum cleaner around. I may drive the mower around the yard, too - we shall see.
I also need to research and apply for Medicare, since I hit the big 65 in January. And I want to make up a folder of our cruise stuff (passports, tickets, itinerary, emails, etc) so we’re prepared for possible issues when we get to Ft. Lauderdale. After the fiasco when my mom and I showed up for our cruise and they didn’t have any record of our reservation (made more than a year ahead of time) I discovered the value of documenting everything.
Sounds like an exciting day, huh? Happy Saturday.
I hope the food quits arguing and you got some sleep Sunny.
Back from irk, it’s getting slow, so not many hours. Also called in at waitressin’ place to pick up final pay, at least for a while. I don’t think they really want me any more now busy time is done for the season, but I might get offered the odd emergency shift. Suits me. The money was nice as an extra, but skool comes first.
Now my weekend begins, though I do have the first few bits of skool irk to get on with, nothing’s especially urgent. I shall do some, probably not much, and I shall relax.
Hope you get to play with your bloons, Flytrap.
Blurfage Irking, of course. I hope it will be slow today but one never knows with the holiday weekend.
Once I leave here at 1300 I don’t have to come back until Tuesday. It will be like a mini vacay.
Doogggiioooo That was mighty convenient for the car to act up right by the bar.
Happy Weekend All.
Flytrap? I mean Spidey. All you invertebrate related people are confusing me, especially as my brain’s now off for the day.
