The Amish are master carpenters/woodworkers. They are know for good quality wooden furniture. Toys aren’t that much of an extension.
Red what do you do w/ such tight security?
Going thru an Icky-ah, w/o taking the shortcuts can take some time but it’s worth it, once. Once. Plan on an hour plus, mebe even two depending upon how much you browse.
Short but intense rain before we ran. Had to remove my shirt & wring it out after I finished running. What is the date again, 'cause it sure feels like mid-Aug still? (I’m not complaining, I’d rather hot & hoomid to fall weather.) Forewent the good fall beers (a punkin & a smoky) for a summer one due to how sticky I was.
Another thing I don’t like about fall; it takes me longer to get ready in the moaning as I now need to pick up a comb or brush. Summer is for buzz cuts, but that’s too cold in the winter. Had a ‘wunnerful’ snack before I ran (Doritos & a couple slices of cheese). There’s leftover pizza iffn I decide to get up & nukealate it. Need to look at the pics from last night, but it was a late night so I’s tahrd thisnight.
Have a fun and safe trip baker!
spidey, I work in inventory management for a tech outfit. We have a few hundred million dollars worth of mobile devices on premises, hence the metal detectors and other tight security. It might surprise you how folks have attempted (and sometimes succeeded) to get product out.
Have fun, baker. One of my bucket list things to do is attend the Wienernationals.
Spidey, I agree, there is a season call Fall on a lot of calendars, but haven’t seen much sign of it; near 90 predicted for this weekend again.
Butters, glad you’re catching up on your rest.
Red, I’ll probably take it down to the place I go to sometime in November; problem is, it’s into October and I’m wondering when the weather will turn cold enough to put the lawn to ‘sleep’ for the season.
Only IKEA I’ve ever been in was in Abu Dhabi; I think I still have some pint glasses on my shelves from them.
Soccer was practiced and meeting attended and BLT’s consumed, so bedtime is next on the agenda. Reading my collection of Schlock Mercenary cartoon books backwards (just because I can) so that will lull me to dreamland.
TGIF!! I woke at 4 for no apparent reason, so it’s already a long day!
I kinda like IKEA - I’ve gotten some neat gadgets there, and even if I’m not shopping for something specific, I do enjoy walking around and looking. But the nearest one is more than an hour away - I don’t recall the last time I was in one.
And I’ve never been in Costco. Daughter has a membership for BJs - apparently they get good prices on diapers there. I went in with her not too long ago, and I didn’t see anything in there that convinced me I needed a membership again. Then again, I buy a lot of generics. I suppose if I preferred name brands, I might find some deals.
Thus endeth my week (almost.) I should be sufficiently busy today. We shall see. Happy Firday!
IKEA, meh. The closest one is near rubleland and so it’s about 2 hours or so away. Yes, there is some cool stuff in the Marketplace.
Oh, and happy Friday!! My big plans for the day are my after work doctors appointment and going to the adjacent laundromat to wash some comforters, blankets, and rugs.
Tomorrow is a picnic with my running group.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (completely dark, actually) with a predicted high of 94 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Summer continues. Today I shall take a bunch of stuff to the recyclin’ center. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. Around fourish I shall head over to the church house to assist with mowage. I’m doin’ that this evenin’ because tomorrow mornin’ we shall attend a funeral of a dear sweet lady who passed away this past Sunday. It shall be at St. Paul’s which is the downtown Whiskypalian church. We loved Sammie. She was a hoot. She liked to mess with people. We were together at a function once and there was somebody there I didn’t know but she did, who apparently had gotten on her last nerve. She told me she was goin’ to introduce me to him and to just play along. She (btw she was African-American which is important here) introduced me to him as her son and I played along. The man was all kinds of confused and a little taken aback. It was fun!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
swampy, sounds like a lady most of us here would have liked; my condolences.
FCM, don’t recall ever going in Costco; I was a Sam’s Club member for awhile but for a single person it just didn’t seem to make much sense, so I didn’t renew it.
Got somebody coming over to hook up my new-fangled HD4K TV this morning, but that’s all the the excitement planned, outside of coaching soccer. Heading for 85F again with humidity included.
Tomorrow is three more games to coach and three sets of team pictures by the professional photographer who helps us (she also has kids playing). Will be pretty active from 7am-4pm again–and just as hot as when we started in August. Crazy weather.
I got up too late. Again. I’ll try to get things accomplished today.
Up caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Canes lost last night.
But the tailgate was epic(if a bit hot). I introduced my one friend to the tailgate group I party with. Bit of a shock for her, as she is somewhat reserved, and the Section 328 guys are very friendly.(Ask Ruble about my hockey Peeps)![]()

Dodgers!
Mooommm I rely on Costco for some things, and a lot of it is generic. I get their TP (in MMPer approved quantities). The price is good and the quality is good. Ditto paper towels. I get 4 pounds of butter for the price of 1 at the grocery store, and freeze the ones I’m not using. Their meat quality is vastly better than the grocery, so I buy and freeze. I don’t buy things like computers often, but they have better prices on things like computers, software, phones, appliances (big and small). I’ve gotten all my sheets and towels there for years. All of my allergy meds, because I can get 365 store-brand “Claritin” for the same price as one month of “Claritin” at Walgreens. They do have name brands too, but we don’t buy as much of those. You get the idea. It’s a big place, but I find that it does really save us money.
We did the walkthrough on the house yesterday. I like how it turned out, with one exception. They ordered the appliances before we bought the house. They are bottom of the line. They are so cheap that I haven’t seen anything like them since college housing. I’m going to try to struggle along with the dishwasher. The stove will probably drive me to the insane asylum. My husband doesn’t like the granite (sample here) I picked for the counters, but I love it. I completely forgot to take pictures during the walkthrough, so I’ll have to post those next week. :smack:
Spent ½ the night on the floor, then got up & spent the other ½ in the bed. Caught up from the 4-5 hrs of the night before. Heading towards Amishville after irk iffn anyone needs M&M sized catapults; can also check to see if they have cat-apults.
[rant mode] Listen, Mr. Engineer - you sent me a somewhat cryptic email with a promise to respond (which you didn’t) to have me finish a panel design for you. Since you decided not to check your email as promised, I had to proceed the best I could.
Thank you so much for completely redesigning everything I did. I do so love wasting my time and the company’s money spending all day doing something that wasn’t the way you’d have designed it. I’m so sorry for not being psychic.
PS - don’t bother asking me to do any more design work for you. I’m a drafter. If I’d wanted to be an engineer, I’d have applied for that job and the commensurate remuneration.[/rant mode]
Go ahead - ask me about my afternoon so far… <headdesk>
Blurfage. Happy Firday. My boss brought my evaluation by and it was all outstanding but there is no money for any raises or bonuses.
It is all I can do today to stay awake. As expected I did not sleep good last night cause I slept so much yesterday. At least I will get two days off in a row because of the holiday on Moanday.
Happy Weekend all!
Howdy Y’all! My meds got delivered and I went to the recycle place. After all that I needed a nap.
I shall head on over to the church house in a while for mowage. Sup shall be whatever.
Butters I actually had to look to see what holiday Moanday will be. Once one retires one forgets about such things.
And my mechanic gets $900 of my money.
The air bag sensor under the driver’s seat is faulty. Without it working, the airbags won’t go off in a collision. Great. The sensor itself costs $600. I just spent a crap ton of money on the furnace, and now the car. Plus, I had to walk to a meeting at our facility a half mile away since I have no car today. Normally, not a problem. When the weather’s good, I like the walk. But it’s cold and misty and gross out.
Good thing my husband’s off today. I’ve got a real short fuse today, so I can throw kids at him when the piss me off tonight.
im told by parents a bottle of wine helps with the kidlets
Home. Tahred. I think **FCD **and I will go out for supper. He’s napping right now.
It’s too bad this isn’t a long weekend at my company - I could use one.
Nah, I’d suggest something with a higher alcohol content. Brandy is good for teething for the parents or kidlets, or both.
Happy Firday!
Been a messed up day.
Had another nap failure today. Boo.
And my ear’s bothering me again, so it looks like I might not be able to wear earplugs tonight. Argh.
