The secret MMP

Last night, I left my kids in the family room while I made a phone call. Came back downstairs and Romeo Jr found a paint can that was in the closet and must not have been sealed tightly, and dumped paint all over the couch. I take responsibility for not sealing it tightly… but damn, kid! Spent a good deal of time scrubbing paint out of the couch, then shampooing the couch. The whole time, Romeo Jr is running around half naked because he had paint on his pants and he’s trying to take off his pull-up, too.

Kids.

It is amazing that any survive to adulthood. They arn’t worth THAT much as a tax deduction!

Dunno, I kinda like it there; once you overstuff yourself on meatballs, you can wander around to find a nice couch or bed to take a food coma nap.

Uh-uh. Change my ringtone or notification tone & I’m ignoring the new one because it’s not mine, or at least the one I know to be mine.
Juliet, body painting. OTOH, people pay good money iffn Romeo, Jr. can do it right.

This is the agenda for our team meeting this afternoon:

My boss cracks me up. And, yes, we did have a presentations on emus in a previous meeting, and, yes, there are 3D printed catapults sitting on Baby Engineer’s desk right now.

Having spent approximately 10 minutes in the company of a couple of emus I can tell you that solcializing with emus doesn’t usually go well. They will try to eat your face.

On the other hand, I would really like a miniature 3-d printed catapult.

and some peanut M&Ms.

I have never been to an Ikea store. Does that make me unamerican?

Happy Thorsday!

Moooom, that’s a boss worth having (if he/she is tolerable in the other basics of bossdom).

Lawn has been mowed and grass bagged. The mower kept stalling out due to a loose/exposed starter cable. I should take it in to the store for replacement, but the back of my car is so full of soccer stuff I can’t fit it in and I’m not taking all that soccer stuff out until the end of the year in November and by then I’ll have put the mower away and forgot about it…Deep breath…so maybe next March I’ll get it fixed.

Juliet, kids will get into everything. Glad it was something you could clean.

Nava, as mads go, that’s a pretty good one.

OK, time to remove sweaty clothes and jump in the bathtub.

I’ve never been to an Ikea store and I’m Swedsh. Lunch today was a throwback to first grade. PBJ (Smucker’s Uncrustable), chips, and an apple. Except in first grade my mom would serve canned pears instead of the apple.

Good thing they’re effin cute.

And to those of you hatin’ on IKEA, I freaking love IKEA. I could/have spent waaayyyy too much money at that place. It’s probably a good thing the nearest one is 3 hours away. But I do a lot of “IKEA hacks” … very little of my IKEA ends up in the manner from which it came, with the exception of stuff like the kid cups and bowls we bought, soap dispenser, etc. My son’s bed is a KURA that we lofted and turned into a Ghostbusters Firehouse, for example. I bought a shoe storage system that turned into kitchen utensil storage… and so on.

I used to live 10 minutes walk from IKEA and went there often enough that I knew all the secret shortcuts. I occasionally wondered what they’d do if I set myself up as a guide and charged people.

I actually don’t own any of their furniture bought new though, my mattress is, but the rest was all given me or bought second hand. Got loads of stuff like kitchen utensils from there though.

I have an Amish-built, wooden catapult; two I think. The whole think is about 9" long. I also have a USB powered/PC-controlled desktop Patriot missile battery. (ThinkGeek sold 'em). I wonder if it still works with the newer versions of Windows (I believe I got it when XP was the main OS.

It’s Swedish for “Crap”. That being said, I used to know the store layout better than some of the employees. The upstairs is easy, furniture & restaurant. The downstairs (marketplace) is dangerous. We’d sometimes go just to eat; better than fast food for comparable price & time but one doesn’t impulse purchase furniture; it’s not even that it’s too expensive, it’s that it’s too big. Where do I put that new ____ w/o getting rid of something else. The marketplace, on the other hand, can be dangerous. Cheap & small stuff. They also have a small cafe at the front of the store, separate from the restaurant. Cheap hot dogs, pizza slices, & $1 froyo’s.
The one near me is by a trail. I’d sometimes park in their lot & go out on the trail & then get a froyo (or two :o) to cool off & replenish at the end.

What do the Amish do with catapults, throw farm animals from one corn field to another? :dubious:

My old local one is furniture, restaurant and marketplace all upstairs, it’s a proper maze layout.
They do veggie hotdogs in the downstairs food kiosk though (after the tills so you can celebrate getting out), which was a large part of why I went there, you could sneak in the back and just get the junk food.

There’s a few bits of furniture that are OK quality wise, my bedframe is metal and from there, there’s nothing wrong with that. I just didn’t buy it, a friend was leaving the country at the same time I needed a new bed. The cheap stuff is crap, the pricier end is just the same as everywhere else. I miss the place now the nearest one is over a hour away.

Howdy Y’all! I have been doctored and dentisted. Also had some Maryland Fried Chikin for N.O.L. just cause I wanted some and tater tots. They do good tater tots. We have ingested majik intartoobz pizza and sallit. All is well.

I have nuttin’ else to add to today’s goin’s on up in here except that Amish Catapults would be a great band name.

I didn’t say I hated IKEA. I don’t really care about them either way. I’ve just never been there.
For some inexplicable reason they decided to put their Portland store way to-hell-and-gone out by the PDX airport, which, for some other inexplicable reason, is at least an hour’s drive from any-freaking-where and almost 2 hours from my house. Thus, I’ve never been there.

We just got back from Costco. Now there’s a place I’ve been a lot. We done good today. Only spent about $120.00. We also got some of their raviolis for dinner, with some of our home-made marinara.

Moooooom, It takes a key card to get into any door but the front lobby in my building, we go through metal detectors before a turnstile that also requires the key card (your employee badge) and for many areas, another swipe of the badge to get in. For hourlies, clock in is biometric. The lockers, OTH, are between the employee entrance and security and have manual combination locks built in. Almost anything hast to be put in there (no phones, other wifi enabled devices or cameras beyond security unless company issued), so there’s very little chance for me to [del]escape[/del] leave if I can’t get into it. The company doesn’t invest in anything more than that if they don’t own or consign it.

nava, that sounds like a tasty pit stop that will be near you.

metal mouse, have you considered having the mower fixed during the off season? My dad’s neighbor who does small engine repair gives a discount during the winter months to drum up business, and, I suspect, pay the heat bill. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve never been to an Ikea store either. The nearest ones are in Memphis and Atlanta. The next time I’m through Memphis though, I want to stop.

Irk got done today. I figure that I’ll have a short day tomorrow. 'Bout time, as the last couple of Fridays, I’ve worked over. Maybe Nelson will get a dog park run. I hope to hit the road on the bike Saturday. It will be the first time since the accident and I feel limber enough to swing a leg over.

Tomorrow morning early my sister and I are taking off for a short trip. We’ll be going west to some birding sites, including Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. Friday evening we will spend in Great Bend, Kansas, then Saturday we’ll go south to Stafford, Kansas, for the Oktoberfest, with their weiner dog races. And my dachshund Mauser will be along! This is going to be fun.

Wiener dog races? :dubious:

Yep!

This video is from a race several years ago in Nebraska.

Never been to an IKEA or a Costco.

Bout to have a dinner that was home cooked by hubby and consists of tons of veggies in addition to cube steaks and rice and gravy.

I had a very restful day today. I actually slept off and on most of the day. I just hope I shan’t be awake all night because of it.

We did pizza for supper because that’s what **FCD **wanted. RoxStar puked on me again - that kid can’t hold her formula…

So glad tomorrow’s Firday!
