The Shield: New Season Starts March 15

One of the better shows on television, season four of The Shield starts on March 15th, and this year, GLENN CLOSE has signed on to do the entire season!

So looking forward to it!

For more info and the trailer:

I don’t get what the fuss about Glenn Close is. I didn’t know who ANY of the actors on that show were, but plenty of them shined through to make 3 great seasons. I’m really looking forward to it, but I’m going to have to do a quick rent of season 3’s DVDs, since I decided to start my “no tv for a month” goal right around when season 3 was wrapping up (I missed a couple of episodes, which made it easier to let go)

You are absolutely correct that the show stands up well with its current cast.

However, if they are going to introduce a new character anyway, they could have done a lot worse than add a very talented, Oscar winning actress! I think Glenn Close will have no problem running with the boys.

I am definitely looking forward to the new season too, but I will say that I hate the Glenn Close pick. Too many T.V. shows try to boost their ratings by bringing in some movie star, and it just hasn’t worked very well in many situations. I think these actors bring a sort of typecasting to the show that is hard to get around.

Who knows though, maybe she will be the perfect opposite of the baddest man on T.V.–Vic Mackey.

This show is fantasitc, and I can’t wait for it to start again. I like Glenn Close, so I suspect she’ll be a positive to something that is already real good. I just wish they wouldn’t wait until MARCH!! to start the season…

Just saw the first episode, and I can already tell that this season is going to be superb. I think I’ll like Glenn Close just fine, as long as she drops that semi-amused smile she had throughout this entire episode.
Aceveda going directly after Vic seemed a little out of character, but the later scene with his wife showed that he’s still got some serious shit going on with the rape from last season. Am I the only one who thinks that he’s going to go see a hooker to “resolve” his issues? And that he might get rough with her, maybe even kind of rape her? I base this entirely on a 30 second scene from last season, I think the very last episode, where he stops for a hooker, shows her his badge, and then tells her to go home. It’d be totally gratituous unless my fringe theory is right.

And Shane! What a Frankenstein you’ve created, Vic! That scene at Deadeye’s house is the reason I think this season is going to be superlative television.
And while I’m at it, let’s hope Ronnie, the forgotten Strike Teamer, gets some more screen time. And hell, let’s see Lem every episode, because he just seems like a great guy.

Sorry to be so gushy, but I frickin’ love this show. Probably my favorite at the moment, although The Sopranos would probably give it a run for its money if it were on right now.

The first episode this season was kind of meh to me. The only thing I am looking forward to is the
Shane story line. That looks like it is going to one hell of a resolution. I can’t wait to see how Vic takes care of him.[/spolier]

I thought it was boring and overwrought with racial issues and horribly-paced, too much emphasis on Dutch and Wyms (i do like them) but not enough on Mackey or the other strike-teamers. Glenn Close is weird-looking and sends a cold chill down my spine.

Can someone explain the Shane deal? All Vic ever said about Shane/Lem is “some people moved on”. We find out later Lem runs the YMCA or something. Shane shows up at the dead guy’s house (was that the guy Vic was trying to turn into a CI? I couldn’t really make him out in the dark.), with no real explanation of his current status. He said something about a vice squad… is Shane head of another “strike team” at another Farmington precinct?

I always liked Wagenbach, I like how he stood up to that lady (was she the DA?)
