One of the best thin crust pizza parlors in the valley will be changing hands soon. The place is Cicero’s Pizza. They are located near the Valco Shopping Mall at 280 and Wolfe Road in Cupertino.
Because I am going to miss this place so much, I will be organizing two different parties. One for the weekday working crowd and another on a weekend for the full up pitchers of beer whoop-de-doo.
The worker who told me about this mentioned that the change over will not occur for a few months. I will be putting together plans for this in the near future. Maybe a Superbowl party?
Please feel free to check in with ideas for this event.
I would like to put in my vote right now for a Super-Bowl party. I need a Super-Bowl party. I haven’t been to a Super-Bowl party in three years.
Last Super-Bowl I watched with my wife and her friend Gabby. Actually I watched and she and Gabby talked to each other, occasionally interrupted be me either swearing or whoopee-ing, to which their reply was, “Oh did something happen?”
“They went for it on fourth down.”
“What does that mean?”
“Nevermind.”
I think we have a weiner!!! I say let’s do it, pug, Rasa and Jack. I know the owner’s son in law, so I’ll talk to him about bringing the wings pug. From what I can tell, Super Sunday will be on January 28, 2001. If anyone knows otherwise, please post your findings.
This one is being inked on the calendar right now. So it’s a done deal as far as I’m concerned. I think I just found a use for all of those names on the email list from the Holiday Dopefest too. Let’s have some fun!
Hmmm, well if I can get a day off, and Demo can switch his Wed. for a Monday that week, I’d be down with a Super-Bowl party. I haven’t been to one in 3 years. Do they have hot wings?
Er… I believe the Superbowl is always on a Sunday Cat, so please don’t worry about the weekday schedule too much, unless that’s what it takes for you two to get the right day off. I’d really enjoy a chance to finally meet you and Demo. Cicero’s is your usual hole in the wall pizza joint. I’m pretty sure they don’t serve wings. As I said though, I’ll talk to Bob and see if we can get special dispensation to bring our own.
Now, let’s see if we can get Snooooopy in here for a commit!
I believe the undisputed best pizza in the bay area has always been Frankie & Johnny & Luigi Too. They are on the Penninsula and also Tri-Valley.
The signature pie is Tina’s Too Too Much
Been there, done that Show_Biz. FJ&L’s pizza is ok. A little heavy on the crust and the sauce doesn’t have the piquant tang that Cicero’s has. Plus, it took forever to get the food, but that isn’t the pizza’s fault. The only place that got close to Cicero’s was Coppola’s pizza that used to be on Saratoga Avenue near 280. That was because over twenty years ago, the two of them were partners. Coppola just didn’t get the sauce recipe when they split up.
I have to point everyone to the alternative review of Cicero’s pizza in this thread.
While you are there, get a salad, enjoy a coke. Have some fun with all of the marvelous dopers. Enjoy puglvr’s excellent wings. But, for God’s sake, avoid the pizza.
pat
PS:
I will say this, atleast in this thread Zenster has downgraded the hype of Cicero’s pizza from the best to one of the best.
PPS:
As far as Super Bowl parties go, the food is the least important ingredient. Even when it is superb food, they take a back seat to the wonderful commercials.
LOL! I know the Superbowl is always on a Sunday, Zen.
But, I will need Monday off because I will either:
A. Drink well into Monday morning.
B. Drink too much Sunday, Pass out, and not wake until Tuesday, or at the earliest, Monday afternoon, with a splitting headache.
C. A combination of A and B. (My money’s on this one)
Sorry, I’m just not one of those one or two beer girls.
Put me down as a maybe (it all depends if I have a job and money). I dont much care for football, but i’d go to be with people. Just dont ask me what i thought about a certain play or pass, cause i dont know
Cupertino is close to San Jose, Demo. It’s in the area of Campbell, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara.
…i’ll tag along. I can’t eat pizza (or wings, or pretty much anything this place is likely to have save maybe a side salad), and watching football ranks right up there with castration via cheese grater for me, but i can at least come and hang out, wherever it might be.
