The Simpsons 25 March 2007 (spoilers)

Cool opening  , but we didn’t get to see dino-Marge!

Yeah, that goes down as one of the best couch gags ever in my book. I loved that Moe devolved.

Episode was nothing special, except for the return of Gabbo. You could see him in one of the crowd scenes in the movie trailer… maybe working on the movie reminded someone he existed, so they decided to use him again in the show?

A lot of good sight gags in this one. Quimby and Brockman was just terrifying.

If only they could’ve closed with the couch gag instead of closing with the 25 minutes of crap that followed.

Yep, to both.

After seeing the full opening, then that really long couch gag, I said to myself, “This episode musta run short.”

The ep itself was nothing special: not bad, but not particularly good. I did laugh a time or two, like at Rainier Wolfcastle’s speech about how he is not made of sushi. (But the biggest laugh I got during this week’s Simpsons was when I accidentally dropped the remote on the floor next to the cat, startling her and causing her to jump up onto the footstool, startling the other cat who had been lying on the stool and causing both to jump off in opposite directions.)

I stopped watching half-way through. I don’t regret it.

I didn’t recognize the celebrity in between Elton John and Jose Canseco in the montage. Who was he?

Also, a couple other observations. I loved the restaged 1987 photo showing the Simpsons as they looked on the Tracy Ullman Show. And Lenny was absolutely creepy dressed as Seven of Nine in the Voyager finale photo.

For a recent epsiode, not bad. Clearly written by someone with both a love for Simpsons history (many references to older episodes) and a love for classic Simpsons humor.

Best couch gag ever. “What took you so long?”

Jimmy Durante, maybe?

Lenny as 7 of 9 too damn funny!

The couch gag rocked too.

Is someone who knows what to look for willing to find this great couch gag on YouTube for the rest of us who missed it? I’m curious.

Here you go

Ah, thank you – that was indeed great!

Was she the dragonfly?

Great opening couch gag; I didn’t think the episode was too bad. Homer driving dangerously with Maggie was great - “Two and ten, Einstein!” - and I liked him later bumping into the oh-so-sweet Betty White.

I got distracted and missed what Homer said at the Star Trek Voyager finale party before bursting into tears. Anyone remember?

I also liked the couch gag. I wonder if anyone picked up it was paying homage to this Fatboy Slim video.

I liked the gag but would have liked it better if they had shown Homer stopping at the ape stage, and had someone else carry it along. When you think of the dozen or so times Homer has been depicted as ape-like…

There were some other great little moments, particularly some of the embarassing celebrity photos… like Drederick Tatum snorting Secretariat’s ashes.

‘Oh, Captain Janeway, your voyage ended too soon!’
