The Slugabed MMP

I hope that RoxStar feels better soonest Mooooooom.

Slothed most of the day. It stormed, which we needed.

I agree. But SWMBO wanted them boiled. The funny thing is, she boiled them on the side-burner of the barbie.

Went to gym. Watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisal while I sweated. I had to back off a little on my pace, as I’ve been feeling shin-splinty, so only went 3.7 mph. With 65 minutes on the 'mill and the walk to the grocery store, I did OK today. Tomorrow is Sunday, and it’s going to be hot, so I may not walk at all. Such dissipation! It occurs to me that the restless leg/nocturnal myclonus may be due to the vascular crud, which would explain why it’d be worse on days with less exercise. Who knows?

flyboy, well, you tried. I’ve been re-re-rereading The Return of the Straight Dope, in which Unca Cecil says, “You should also steam or grill rather than boil your hot dogs–water leaches away the flavor and softens the wiener till it becomes non-tooth-resistant mush.” To each her own, but maybe don’t invite Ed over for franks any time soon.

And now I’m curious: what is SWMBO’s rationale for boiling them?

Up from naptime. I dreamed my replacement mother was making some sort of alien hive in the crawlspace in my childhood home in Durham, NC, and all the female hybrids were joining a crocheted burka wearing cult in the Middle East. I think this might be a sign that the vermouth has gone a bit off.

Some crypto dude got phised, and they stole his “Bored Ape #298” NFT. Part of his Twitter rant was “Just got scammed with a fake NFTtrader link, and they went straight for my ape

ROTFLMAO

“I’m the crazy on my side of the family”?

Snerk, Nice dream. crocheted burka has a nice ring. Maybe the tiny holes will…not sure how to end that sentence without being offensive.

Apparently, there are some items I should not order online, but should purchase in person. HOW did I think a 12 liter trash can would replace a 13 gallon??

And Buddy was apparently annoyed by me being too busy typing to move the laptop and make room for him instantly, judging by the claws when he pawed at my leg for attention.

Evening all. Got about 90 minutes of rain this afternoon, which I missed by falling asleep during it, then went to Jimmy John’s for some sustenance and then to the gym…to realize it closes at 6pm on weekends. Ah well, I’ll try to get some exercise out of it tomorrow.

Seanette, liters, gallons…been there.

I tend to boil my hot dogs too, mostly because that’s what we did when I was a child so that’s what I learned to eat. Seldom eat them anymore anyway.

Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

I’m sure I’ll find a use for the offender, but STILL…

You forgot microwave.

Just got home, need shower & dinner. Will probably poke back in later.

Holy guacamole. After a long shift on my feet in a kitchen, I … cooked myself an honest-to-og proper home-cooked meal, for the first time in a while.
After hours on my feet in a kitchen.

Even I’m impressed with how much better I’m feeling.

It was just my usual sausage/potato/onion comfort food (followed by not one, but TWO of those vegetarian “Jell-O” gel-cups, because frankly, I just like the damn things) but hey, ambition and appetite are returning!

My back feels (somewhat) better, too. I gotta stretch, like, a lot more.

Now, let’s see if Mr. Sandman feels like swinging by for a quick visit.

So, shoe, you’re turning into a normal person? For certain values of normal, that is… I’m truly happy for you! Here’s hoping this job continues to be a good one!

I had a stoopit night. I swear, I woke every couple of hours for no sensible reason. Between the bizarro dreams (none of which I remember beyond vague unease) and my bladder (which we ignore at our own risk) there were too many interruptions. But Higgs needs her meds around 5, so when I woke just after 5, I got up.

Poop pup is still coughing from time to time. She gets the antibiotic every 12 hours, and a cough tab every 6-12 hours as needed, so she got one of each when I fed her. She can have another cough tab around noon if she’s coughing badly. It doesn’t seem to bother her while she’s chilling, and she does that a lot, so I’m hopeful that she’ll get over this mess soon.

Not sure what’s on today’s agenda. FCD took his early morning pain meds and he went back to bed. The gabapentin makes him sleepy, and I’m glad when he can crash for a good nap. Yesterday we forgot to bring home the excess life jackets from the boat - there are 17!! No way we’d take that many people out, and some of the jackets are in sad shape. We’ll keep maybe 8-10 on board.

If we don’t go to the marina, I might get ambitious and pick up all the fallen branches in the yard. I also need to hack back the wisteria and trumpet vines where we park the truck - they’re getting out of control again. That’s as far ahead as I’ve thought. It’s still too early to think.

Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 with rain showers. We shall see. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. We have N.O.T. sallit, a cake, and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea to take. Not takin’ any 'que since I got word yestiddy that there will be leftover dead pig from Firday’s retirement soiree. Nappage, sloth and general overall uselessness shall occupy the rest of the day.

shoe yay on you for makin’ a proper meal after irkin’ all day! Glad you are somewhat happy so far.

We grill hotdawgs. It’s really the only way we both like 'em. However, a place in Ye Olde Hometowne does a great steamed dawg, as does a local dawg place and we will eat dawgs from both places.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s 19c/67f with a predicted high of 22c/71f and mostly cloudy. Strange, since I can’t see a single cloud from my window, just lots of blue sky. Weather app says “Just fucking balls. I’ve got nothing” which just about sums up my day.

Dublin flight was taken, it was uneventful. Return flight was similarly uneventful although it was Aer Lingus rather than BA, returning us to the closest airport to home, rather than Heathrow. 40 minutes on the train, then a cab back to the house. Cats were pleased to see us as it meant fresh food and the litter trays got scooped. Pizza for dinner last night, and chilli for dinner tonight.

No plans besides some slothage, and I need to make lunch for three days on campus. That’ll be pasta and something. In the meantime, more tea!

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, supper (red beans for red beans and rice) in the crock and will do lunch prep and KP before purtifying to go have coffee with some freethinkers.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. There’s a purring creature in my lap, and a snoring creature behind me.

Yay!

I found this recipe - does it sound wonderful or merely amazing?

Well, if you make one you can send it to me and I’ll be glad to test it…

Up, paper retrieved and pill taken, so now fasting until it’s time to go to the Olive Garden, where I will add calories like crazy. Then do some work around the house (mowage is possible but there is a 40% chance of tunder-boomers so we’ll see) and prepare some soccer documents.

And the invisible farting creature is just biding their time…

Boo fae, glad the travels went as planned.

Eeewwww… Hope he’s doing better.

shoe, glad to know things are looking up for you. Hope it stays that way. either way, we’re here.

OK, need to do the Sunday You Tubes and then bathe prior to heading out to pasta. All y’all have a good Sunday.

I hacked back the wisteria/trumpet vines that threatened to cover the truck, then I pulled up/cut back the ones that were starting to take over the side yard. Sweaty chore, thanks to obscene humidity. I may go pick up branches later, after I cool down.

Needless to say, we’re not going to the marina. FCD doesn’t want to and I’m fine with that. Apart form the yard work, I’ve got a dishwasher full of clean dishes to put away. And somewhere along the line, I need to think about what I’ll make for supper - maybe burgers?

Plus chillage. Lots of chillage.

Cinnamon roll apple pie sounds delish and should send anyone into a diabetic coma. Thank you, I’ll have another piece.

I did sweet FA yesterday. It was hawt, like 92. This morning it is rainy, I may do sweet FA again, although I need to get kitty litter and if I’m out I might as well visit Ariel. I am officially off heart meds until the procedure so I’m a BIT PARANOID.

I’m from Chi town where we’re steam our dogs and poppyseed buns. But I put ketchup on my dogs so what do I know.

Tick-tock, seven o’clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o’clock!
