The "somebody has to start it" MMP

Back from breakfast. Daughter met us there and we had a nice visit. She made a card for her dad with construction paper  and bought him a really ugly tie, which is funny since he never wears ties anyway. He plans to hang it in his office.

He’s at work now, daughter has gone back to her place, and I’m avoiding chores for now. I need to string up my tomatoes - the plants are so tall, they’re falling out of their cages. So I need to do something with stakes and string. The rain has stopped and it’s mega-humid out there, and buggy. ick.

Guess I can’t avoid the inevitable…

Good morning everyone and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.

I’ve been up and about since about 5:30 this morning. I’m still the only one up and I’m enjoying the relative peace and quiet. I’ve got the dishwasher running too.

We enjoyed spending time with our friends last night. They came over and we grilled some steaks and chicken breasts and I made some roasted potatoes that I had mixed with some rosemary infused olive oil and little regular olive oil, rosemary, thyme, sea salt, pepper, onions, garlic, and little onion powder. Not too much olive oil, enough to coat it for the herbs and spices to stick. Dumped it all on a sheet pan and roasted them in the oven for about 40 minutes.

I had planned on grilling steaks for the hubby today, but he kind of blew that plan out of the water when we invited our friends over for steak. I shall have to find something else to prepare for dinner today. He really doesn’t want to go anywhere or do anything (at least that’s what he told me Friday), so I guess we’ll just relax here at home and maybe knock out a couple of chores.

My daughter is spending her first Father’s Day away from home because she’s in Missouri. I don’t know if my son has anything planned for my husband. His bank account is pretty anemic anyway. He spent a good chunk of his graduation money on registering for his college freshman orientation.

I had “drama” between the dogs today. Yesterday, hubby came home with a femur bone that had been sawn in half for the dogs, so each of the dogs would have their own bone. They looooooove those things. Anyway, all was good, each enjoying their bone although I noticed that Polar never strayed far from his all day and night.

This morning, Brandi somehow got hold of Polar’s bone. I could tell he wasn’t happy, but he tried to be a sport about it. He half-heartedly gnawed on Brandi’s bone, but he kept watching her and she’d sort of growl at him every once in awhile. Finally, Polar couldn’t take it anymore, and he went to lie down next to her. He lay there awhile watching her gnaw, and then all of a sudden he just pounced. She tried to fight back, but he was having none of it. He snatched the bone from her and went to lie across the room from her. I led her to her bone and went out to the garage to have a smoke. When I came back in, I couldn’t find her or her bone, so she must have gone upstairs to pout. She does that.

You know, for the most part Polar just doesn’t care if Brandi grabs one of his toys or bones. He just sort of shrugs in his doggy way and finds something else. However, every once in awhile there is something he has decided is his, and his alone, and he lets her know. I guess this a good thing, because Brandi becomes a little uppity at times. She’ll sort of growl at him if he comes near the food dish while she’s using it (we have two, of course), but sometimes Polar just wants to grab what’s closest, she’ll growl a little if she feels he’s getting more attention than him, etc. We of course, tell her to knock it off, and she does.

When the dogs had their spat this morning, I let them know that wasn’t cool either. Both sort of whined at me and Polar started “talking” to me. Anyway, all is cool now, but I swear, it’s like having teenagers around here with those two sometimes.

I totally understand that! Ernie is super jealous of anything or any time Dipsey gets. He growls a lot at him.

Then you have very advanced dogs. I liken mine to four legged and furry three year olds.

Three year olds don’t generally talk back to you. Polar “talks” back with a cross between a moan, growl and bark thing. It’s really weird. You can almost sort of hear words in it sometimes. He’s not really much of barker, but he vocalizes this way all the time. He does not like to be told “No”. Most of the time he sort of shrugs it off, but sometimes he really lets us know he’s not happy with being denied something or being told to knock it off.

Sometime, I’m going to have to get it recorded.

Howdy Y’all! Deheathenated, receptioned (is too a word!), lunched and napped. That’s been my day.

Good service this mornin’. The visitin’ former Priest preached a good sermon. After church YP told me that denyin’ someone the goodness that is fresh baked brownies right out of the oven is not very Christian. I got told on! Imagine!

Ok, I should get busy on some stuff I need to do like finish laundry and do some cave defilthyfication.

Later Y’all!

Thunderboomers all morning, possibility of more in the afternoon. There went my plans of sitting on the porch all day. I guess I could move up to the porch off Computer Boy’s room. I’ll probably do that in a while since Culinary Boy wants me to watch A Scary Movie with him and that just ain’t happening.

I totally forgot it was Father’s Day today. HOWEVER, I did remember both my dad’s birthday *AND *Oldest Nephew’s birthday with cards this year. If I can keep this up and remember Nephew Z and Nephew G’s birthday I’ll be that much closer to not being the Bad Aunt this year. The real test is will I remember Niece and Nephew P’s birthdays on Christmas week?

The Green Lantern was good. My boyfriend Ryan is hawt!

We didn’t go out for breakfast so planned on lunch after the movie as mr ems got a call from some buddies to see if he wanted to play golf this afternoon so he was going to go to that.

Went to the yummy sandwich place near the movies and got lunch to go. Stoopid woman making them was to busy flirting with mr ems so even after asking me if I wanted mayo and mustard and I said neither we get them home and there is mayo and mustard all over the bread. Yuck. So no yummy lunch for me. Grrrrrrr :frowning:

Anyway I have the house to myself this afternoon…what mischief can I get up to do you think?

mmmmmm, you could go back to yummy sandwich place and smack the Stoopid woman.

**FCD **is home. My car has been dropped off for its 90K mile maintenance - I get to drive the truck tomorrow. rah.

It’s gotten overcast again and from the look of the weather radar, we may get some more showers tonight. I’m eating an egg-n-cheese sammich and when I’m done, I’m going to resume knitting.

Thus endeth my weekend…

LOL

I would have done but mr ems has the car and it is to far to walk across town. Stoopid woman.

I have sat on the couch and watch TV is the mischief I have gotten up to this afternoon. I am off to re-make the bed, scoop the kitty box then get supper prepped. Stuffed peppers tonight with fried yellow squash.

I am off house hunting next week so I must charge my camera batteries also!

I could swear I posted, but…???

Happy Father’s Day to all who celebrate it!

I hate it when I look forward to a meal like that and then meet with disappointment, mmmmmmm.

I LOL’d, rosie (and also voted).

Have had a kind of lazy day. Did a bit of garden clean-up, had leftover Chinese for lunch (yum), went to the Art Museum (and ran into Local Best Friend and family; well, actually I walked past them first, apparently in La-La Land), then Target, Whole Foods and Giant Eagle).

It’s raining again, but at least I was able to get a walk in before it got too wet. I’m also doing laundry. Yay!

Off to finish with that and maybe knit and watch a movie.

Hugs.

facebook exchange with YP:

YP: Ella just looked at me and grunted, “daddy.” It’s a fathers day miracle!

NOTE: Ella is seven weeks old today.

Me: Or a Father’s Day delusion.
Also this mornin’ I said to him, “Happy Father Daddy Day!” See, he’s a Priest, so he’s a Father. I’m a laugh riot!

Rosie I voted!

In other news, I have done nuttin’.

Must pack and yet seriously do not want to. I don’t need to be at the airport til 8 so I might leave it till tomorrow as it will only take me 20 mins. I will be up at 5.30 when mr ems leaves for work. Yeah tomorrow it is for packing - I have decided!

I do have my camera and Kindle on charge though so I am not a complete lazy bum.

Tomorrow’s OP is written, but I ain’t posting until the morning.

I worked my butt off today!

I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, and dusted shelves and window sills. I clipped two weeks worth of coupons and went to the grocery store. I watered all the plants. I did several loads of laundry, and they are all put away.

I made spaghetti and meatballs, and I also made a meatloaf to be cooked on Tuesday.

I need to go to work to rest. :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m looking forward to your rescue story, VBob! See y’all tomorrow!

Only made it through a couple of loads of wash because…I fell asleep.

Off to bed - how can it be almost Monday already?

Hugs.
